    0:47 - As a massive Jays fan and equally dismissive of the BoSox.... Roger Clemens won 3 Cy Young awards and an MVP before he came to Toronto. Had over 2500 K's. C'mon

    • @gf4670

      Exactly. From 86 to 92 he was the best pitcher in baseball. Clemens's 13 years with Boston sort of mirror Koufax's 12 years with the Dodgers, except without the WS titles. 192 wins, 3 Cy Youngs (probably should have been 4), a legit MVP award for a pitcher, 4 ERA titles, etc.
      DP just doesn't like Clemens. Or Bonds. They weren't good media guys and were pretty surly. I get it. But by 1996 Clemens and Bonds had legit HOF stats. Schilling belongs, too, but his resume is sorta borderline but he gets a pass from guys like DP because Schilling was a good media guy.

      @@Vic-Vega What? My point is that during his career, Schilling was very happy to give the media what they wanted. He was a jovial personality who gave good interviews and made their jobs easier and that elevates Schilling in guys like DP's mind from "borderline" HOFer to "definite" HOFer. Especially relative to a guy like Bonds, who was always surly to say the least with the media, or Clemens, who could be a hyper-competitive jerk. Being a jerk who is good with the media goes a long way versus a jerk who is bad with the media.

      Exactly. Bonds was the best and then the roids took off. He wanted to be seen at that level so he made the choice. if anything, the roids just proved that Bonds was by far the best in the game. I used to agree but with Bud Selig in the HOF this just feels ridiculous. Is he in without the excitement of the steroid era? without the viewing increase for the home run races? Not a chance. On top of which he multiple times colluded to keep players from earning their due or even playing in some cases. Every manager and executive of the steroid era has made their career off the backs of these players and now lets them take the fall while they rake in the accolades. Its such a selective anger that ignores the many people who incentivized and encouraged the cheating in the first place and who continue to profit of it as a result.

      @@rjperfetto584 In my opinion Curt Schilling is the biggest snub on this list. Dude has the Strike to Walk ratio Since the Live Ball Era began in the year of 1900. He is part of the first pitching duo to hit 300 strike outs in a season (2002). 6 time all star was an ACE of 3 world series teams 1993 Phil, 2001 Dbacks ,2004 BOS and contributing member of 4 world series teams 1993 Phil, 2001 Dbacks, 2004 and 2007 BOS. He posted 3 seasons of 300 plus strikeouts 1997, 1998 and 2002 with 2001 finishing with 293 and finishing his career was the 14th player to reach the 3000 strike out mark and 14th at the time on the all time strikeout list one behind Gibson. Curt placed in the top 5 for Cy young voting 5 times with 4 of them being 2nd place by the way to other Hall of Famers like Randy Johnson.
      As stated in this video Schilling posted an 11-2 record with a 2.23 ERA in 19 post season starts. Between the 2001 and 2002 post seasons Schilling pitched to the tune 55.1 inings, 3 complete games and an ERA of 1.14 (Remember these are against the Cardinals for 3 starts, Braves for one start and the Yankees for 3 starts non are pushover teams, Yankees were the three time defending world champs. 2 of the complete games were one run pitching duels with Matt Morris where Schilling came out on top. Schilling would also share World Series MVP and Sports Illustrated player of the year honor with co ACE Randy Johnson in 2001. (If you are standing on the same stage as Randy Johonson doing anything...Hall of Fame just saying. I haven't even got to the bloody sock yet! I am getting there! In 1993 Schilling was named NCLS MVP despite not earning a win because both games Schilling pitched the lead was giving up by Mitch Williams the Phillies closer at the time. Thats how dominate he was in the post season.
      Now Schilling started 5 post season win or go home games (Elimination). Schilling record in these make it or break it games is 4-0 with Schilling teams wining all 5. 1993 Game 5 against the defending World Series Blue Jays Schilling pitched a 147 pitch 5-hit Complete game Shutout wining 2-0. The Blue Jays would win game 6 ending the Series. In 2001 Game 5 in the Division against the Cardinals Schilling and Morris had their second pitching dual in the desert with both pitchers pitching till the end with Schilling getting the win again after the Tony W. walk off hit in the 9th ended the game 2-1. Game 7 of the 2001 World Series is the only Elimination game Schilling did not get the win, giving up a 2nd run in the 8th and leaving while the Dbacks were losing. The Dbacks ended up wining the game in the 9th. The last game on this list A.K.A The Bloody Sock Game, Game 6 of the ALCS. Schilling had to go through surgery to stabilize a tendent hours before the game at Yankee stadium Pitching 7 inings giving up 1 run and 4 hits keeping the Red Sock dreams alive. In each of those 5 games Schilling Pitched 39.1 inings pitching at least 7 inings in each start never surrendering more then 2 runs in those games. For comparison Randy Johnson who also has 19 post season starts (Same amount as Schilling) numbers do not match up no Comparison Schilling was far better in the post Season.
      In conclusion as stated in the video Schilling WAR is almost 80 are you kidding me. If Schilling is borderline with WAR of almost 80, The best Strike to Walk ratio ever in the History of LIve Ball ERA and all those post season accomplishments. Kick out 94 percent of the HOF now. P.S Schilling did all of this in the steroid era of Bonds, Sosa, Meguire and many more without using Steroids himself. Schilling did not cheat at all and because of this Schilling is the biggest HOF Snub

    Clemens not a hall of famer? Besides longevity numbers like 3,000 hits, 500/600 HR, 3,000 K, voters should pay attention to seasons of historical significance. Sosa may not be a HOFr based on his ability to do anything else but hitting dingers but those 3 seasons of 60+ HR comprised an historically significant period, regardless of whether he used PEDs (there is no proof, never failed a test). Clemens and Schilling I don't think will ever get in because sports writers hate them just like how the writers hated Nolan Ryan when he played and robbed him of a few Cy young awards because he was a republican. The PED case for Arod is a bit different than Bonds and Clemens, in my opinion. Because he got busted after testing was put in place, I doubt he'll get in. He was caught doping, twice. Plus he lied about it each time. So Arod is fucked. Clemens was proven not guilty in a court of law, they didn't prove it in court so it's time for people to move on. If you watch any video highlights of a young Barry bonds gliding around left field and stealing bases for the Pirates, you will see a decidedly different physique than the bulked up super freak who slugged home runs for the Giants later in his career. You don't go from 186 to 230 without some help. Bonds would have been like Jeter had he stayed clean a HOF lock. Clemens and Schilling should definitely be in the Hall of fame.

      Well there this no evidence that Pete Rose ever bet against his team. Everyone who knows Rose knows that he was always trying to win, on every play. The Pittsburgh Barry Bonds was on the road to cooperstown; if I had a vote, I would not vote for the San Francisco Bonds. 35 year olds don't suddenly find another gear. It just doesn't happen like that. He was 36 years of age when he hit 73 home runs in one season with a 328 BA it is incredibly rare for someone to be reaching the prime of their career at that age. I'm not denying that he had natural talent. His natural talent was very good. He was consistently hitting 35+ home runs with high batting averages. However, anyone can see that his stats were plateauing, and would eventually decline like it does with 99% of all MLB stars. The steroids allowed his aging body to perform at a physical level even greater than that of his natural prime age of 28, when he hit 46 home runs and batted .336.

    • @byronsmith3152
      @byronsmith3152 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aspacebeing710 You do realize he was in SF when he hit those 46 home runs right? And again, the roids do not give you hand eye coordination. You still have to put in the work. People also forget MLB did a lot of things to make home runs easier, which included allowing the roid era to even happen. And let's just over look the fact that Bonds played in pitcher friendly parks for most of his career and still put up HOF numbers. This whole purity crap from voters and old timers needs to go because these same people over look greenies which actually helped players on gameday.
