Well Mike, this is definately a first for me. When I saw the photo I wondered how you would blow into it. I have never seen one of these before, well done and very ingenious.
Hi Mike...I really enjoyed watching you make that Turkey call.. very clever.. I have never seen one before...no wild turkeys in the UK...your filming and editing is impressive...great job...All the best.....Andy
Andy's Cornish Creations thanks so much, Andy! Unfortunately I’ve never seen a wild turkey inside turkey season. Out of season I see them all of the time. 😂 Thanks for the compliment, it takes more time editing, but hopefully it’s worth it. 🙂
I was growing up on country but never seen turkey call. We just saying "gulgulgul" and they come back, even neighbours turkeys 🤣 That is very original idea and it works very good. Even my wife has fooled 😁 👌 Take care Mike 👍
Very nice! I liked that mirrororor view from the bottom. Neat idea. I have fun making them as well. Slightly different approach on chucking but end result the same..
Thanks! The way I had it on the chuck almost ended in failure, but I couldn’t remember exactly how I used to do it. It’s been years since I’ve made one.
Congrats on your new toys…. I mean tools 😁 It’s pretty addicting and I’ve definitely spent more than I’ve made, but I really enjoy it so that’s ok. I wish you well on selling them, that would make it even better. 👍🏻
@@ScenicCityWoodturning Thanks for the reply and yes i dropped about 4500 to get started. One tool leads to another. All my buddies want calls now so hopefully it will pay for itself at some point. Looking forward to more videos!
The tools never stop, there's always a newer/better/shinier one haha. But it's fun and yep, hopefully it makes us enough money to at least support the habit. I mean hobby lol
I'm sorry, David. I haven't been able to be too active on here and didn't see your question. In this video I was using a Jet 1014. I have since upgraded to a Laguna 1836. The Jet was great to start out with.
I got it on Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B012C240BS/?coliid=I1SPPDTPMPNSGY&colid=CPTBJ4R5VF27&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it I’ll probably buy a couple more eventually, they’re pretty handy. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻
Thanks, Jeff! I have had these for a few years, but I think I got them from brooksidegamecalls.com They have just about anything you would need for most any kind of call. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
I believe I got them at brooksidegamecalls.com. They have a great selection. I apologize for the late response, TH-cam hasn’t been great on comment notifications. Thanks for watching!
Nice one Mike, good choice on the two wood combo vs using one solid piece of wood. If you ever want to process that oak down further on the band saw shoot me a message. I live around the corner from woodcraft and would be glad to let you stop by if you're interested
Geoff Brookman thanks, Geoff! I actually meant for the woods not to be as symmetrical as they turned out, but it worked out ok I think. I really appreciate the offer! Next time I’m up that way I may give you a shout. 👍🏻 If nothing else, just to say hi. 🙂
Glen Morton thanks, Glen! I used to make them a lot more several years ago, but stopped turning for a few years. Then the market exploded with people making all kinds of calls. I hadn’t thought about selling them again lately, but I may test the waters so to speak. Lol
Thats a beautiful looking call. Nice work sounds good too
Thanks! These are fun to make and get figured out.
Mike that is so cool! I've never seen a turkey call in that style! Well done! I may have to try that some time!
Thanks, David! You should definitely give it a try. They’re not too hard and they’re pretty fun to make.
Great video and nice looking slate call. Awesome music choice! 👌🏼
Thank you, Hector! Much appreciated! Sorry for the slow reply, busy times. Thanks again!
Now thats cool Mike. Great job and glad you stayed with it. Turned out Purdy...
Thanks for the kind words, David! Sometimes being stubborn works out in the end. Lol
Mike,
I enjoyed that video...you are getting some great angles and close ups.
And that turkey call actually worked...lol
Thanks for sharing
woodworking 220-7 thanks, Luie! I was hoping it would sound ok since it has been awhile since I made one. I lucked out. Lol
Great job. Very beautiful piece. Look so amazing. 👌👌😊

Well Mike, this is definately a first for me. When I saw the photo I wondered how you would blow into it. I have never seen one of these before, well done and very ingenious.
Siam Wood Shop thanks, John! I’ve never tried the mouth type turkey calls. These are a lot easier. Lol
A trick : watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies recently.

Second life of wood-turning haha thanks, Rav! Your method works, too! Plus it’s a lot cheaper and always ready. 😁
@@ScenicCityWoodturning My neighbour wasn't happy 😁 especially when the turkeys didn't want to go back to him 🤣🤣🤣 It was always good fight 😜
A very beautiful result! Well done!👍

Awesome! I recently bought a turning setup and have been making duck calls but wanting to branch out and help fund my hobby by selling a few.

I’m looking to get a lathe. What do you have? Thanks

Interesting! Where did you get the small magnetic lamp on your lathe?
