Hi, I know how tough and anxiety provoking this whole process is but hang in there! I want to remind you that schools are taking more of a holistic approach every year. Your essays, recommendations, research, leadership, extracurriculars, and passions hold a LOT of value to the admissions committees. All these facets of your application are opportunities for you to show why you deserve an acceptance. With that being said, your scores does need to be within a certain range for each respective school and if your scores fall within that range, then I would say the other parts of your application is what will land you an interview and acceptance. There are hundreds of other places where you can find other people's scores to compare to but comparing your scores to other students with no comparison of the entire application will only continue to make you anxious (talking from experience, which is why I have decided not to share my scores). Don't give up and believe in your hard work, your story, and how far you have come. Be relentless and you will get the results you want to see.
The Fee Assistance Program only helps a little...how would you endure four years of medical school and paying the rent? Can you tell me how it is you are paying the rent?
The Fee Assistance Program helped me cover over $2000 in fees for both the MCAT and applications so this was a substantial amount I was able to save during my application process. I was very fortunate to receive a scholarship for school but I am also taking out loans to help. It is sad that choosing to pursue a medical degree in the U.S. usually means that students must take out loans but the financial aid office helps students figure out everything!
This is ridiculous. 30 would be a fortune. I applied to 12-14 (don't remember exactly) 3 interviews, 2 acceptances. People don't apply to 30 unless you're rich and wanna waste a ton of money. Also not to mention flying/transportation/travel to interviews... Even just 14 ended up costing a ton.. I have never heard of anyone applying to this many.. pro tip pre meds- don't apply to this many...it's unnecessary. My stats weren't even wildly amazing
I would like for you to know that I am NOT suggesting that people apply to that many schools, I am just sharing my application process. I am transparent about the cost of applying to medical school and as I mention in the video, I was very fortunate to be accepted into the fee assistance program. I ended up spending less than 500$ on the entire application process. As I explained in the video, the fee assistance program covered the first 20 primary application fees (which equals ~950$) and ALL of the secondary fees. I believe that every pre-med student's journey to becoming a doctor is unique and different. Congratulations to you that you were able to apply to 14 schools and have a successful application cycle but for me, after working so hard on my application for YEARS, I did not feel that the ~400$ I spent was ever a waste. I want pre-meds to know that they can apply to as many schools as they feel fit whether it be 5 schools or 50 schools. I wanted to highlight that it is possible for students to apply to that many schools through the fee assistance program or by preparing and saving in advance.
