  • Stepping into this house was like being transported back to a different time. So much of it is still so well preserved, it's almost as if the owners would be back any day now.

    It was impressive to see how well preserved everything was. Part of me finds it very fascinating and would want to stay for a while and just investigate the lives of the people who lived there. Another part of me would want to let it stay in peace, almost as a sacred graveyard for the memories of the people who lived there. I appreciate how you really didn't disturb anything and left it as you found it. It is sad to me though that a lot of the items like some of the furniture, handmade quilts, family pictures, and even books are going to be lost forever and future generations of that family may never know about them. Anyways, thanks for sharing and taking us along on your explorations!

      This was how it felt for me too. It had a very "sacred" quality to it. Honestly, this is the first house/building we've been in that I felt strange being in... Like someone did and still does care about the place even if they haven't kept up with it.

  • @Andrani
    @Andrani 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

    From the looks of it, the people who owned the house either went away or had something happen. Signs indicate maybe an older couple, and with the cars still there... The original owners probably cared, but their kids may not have so much, if they're still around. Also it's almost never that I see an UrbEx video where the house hasn't been absolutely trashed by people coming in to root through things, I think this is the first one I've seen where everything's as the owners left it.

    • @DoesntSayDont
      @DoesntSayDont  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I definitely think you nailed it. I'm sure it was an older couple that passed away and left it to their kids. Given the state it was left in (locked doors, partially packed, etc), I think it would be safe to say that they don't live in the area anymore. It's strange to me that they never sold it though. But who knows. And yea, I'm glad no one has found and looted this house yet. It's cleanliness gives it a "sacred" kind of vibe. I wouldn't want that ruined.

    Really cool! I'd put the vintage of abandonment at early 2000s, just based upon the tech and having not seen a calendar or anything else to note it. The locked bedrooms, especially the two masters have a really great sense of just being entirely untouched, like the residents just left for work.
    The living room decoration could've been straight out of my aunt's house circa late 90s. What a trip down nostalgia lane. Glad this channel popped up on my feed, I really get Proper People vibes from how you treated the place with respect and were just there to document and bring the viewer along for the ride. Will definitely be keeping up with y'all! Thanks for uploading.

      Welcome to the channel! Definitely early 2000s is what I was thinking as well. I should've taken the time to check some expiration dates or look for calendars. It completely slipped my mind at the time. I'll definitely keep a look out for things like that in the future!

    In the first pantry closet that had shelves. There was a picnic basket that was brown with white and yellow. I have one just like it that my husband and I got as a wedding gift when we got married in 1983. I still love it! It is very sad that their family have not went and cleaned out the house to get everything out of it. It's most probably amazing how many items that might be worth trying to get the money for. The canning jars would be great to have!

    You’re very respectful. This house can be saved if someone would just put a new roof on and fix the parts of the ceiling where it’s showing leaks. It’s a shame to let it sit there and rot.

    I just came upon your site. I am happy that I had the opportunity to subscribe, and I did enjoy the video. The only thing I wished you had done was open the fridge in the kitchen. It may have given us a sense of time how long it's been abandoned? I got the feel an elderly couple may have lived there. And for whatever reason, whether the death of one and the other being placed in a care home. Or the passing of both family members. They may not have had any children. Or, like the majority of Generation X, now adults really don't treasure the same things as the Baby Boomer generation does/did. Family photos and heirlooms, treasures, etc. don't mean anything to the Generation X children. Now adults. Sad to see the home wasting away with what once had so much potential. Also, it would have been nice to see the clothes in the closets. But, all in all, a decent video. Thank you for sharing and walking the distance. Beautiful property. I'd love to live there. I'm looking forward to more. Maybe more indebtedness by showing the fridge and inside the closets. Thanks for sharing! ☺️

      This is so true. We as humans have a sense of wanting to keep up with the Joneses. Or the newest fad. I often hear the videographers talk about how the abandoned homes are outdated. I ask myself why it is so important to keep up with the times. But, seeing all these people's property, they worked their entire lives to purchase. Including their cars, their home, their furnishings, etc, just wasting away in so many abandoned homes. It should be a really clear picture of how this is basically all for nothing in the end. What truly matters is where you want to spend eternity? This journey on earth is only a short moment compared to how and where we spend our eternity? If you are a believer. If not, well, none of it is of any concern to an atheist? Don't store up treasures on earth where moths and rusts destroy and thieves may steal. Store up your treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, there may your heart be also.

    • @SilentStorm1031
      @SilentStorm1031 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is what I was thinking. The cabinet style television was definitely out of the 70s. The other smaller one appeared to be an early 90 tv. The decor was definitely 70's with the wood paneling and carpet style. The bedrooms were absolutely amazingly untouched for years. The home was a complete time capsule. It is unfortunate that the mold has begun. That will ruin everything. These abandoned homes always keep me wondering, "Where did they go?" Certainly proof we can not take what we've worked our whole entire lives for with us. The reason God tells us not to store up treasures on earth. This and all abandoned homes are the perfect proof of this.

    A well-secured, untouched home belonging to a deceased person. You jimmy an access and make it look like the front door just happened to be left open after checking all the other doors. You cased the interior prior to filming, leaving cupboards, etc, open so as to appear that others had been there, hiding calendars and datable signs. I hope the law and heirs catch up with you.

    This was the mostly neatest and well organized abandoned home that I have seen on YT.
    While I admire your near reverent treatment of it while exploring inside, I fail to understand why you did not jimmy or even kick the locked bedroom doors open? Its not like someone important would be angry or upset if you had.
    Thing is...at least two ceilings of that house are gonna cave in and soon. So any minor damage caused by visitors will not matter in the long run.
    Rrally wish that I could filtch all or most of those books...but at age 67...ìt no longer matters. My priorities have radically changed since I left my 50s!!

    • @DoesntSayDont
      @DoesntSayDont  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey. When I do my explores, I like to experience them as a visitor, no need to take anything or more anything just as I would in someone else's house.
      Also, the doors didn't need to be kicked in because of the style of locks they had. Simply pushing in a pen or other slim object like that would be enough to unlock the door.
      I know the ceilings are very close to caving in, but I would rather not be a contributing factor to the houses eventual demise. I think there is still plenty to save here tbh.
      Thanks for watching!!

      @@DoesntSayDont Yes there still are many things that could be useful to those with a blood or friendship connection to the former occupants. But since I never knew that there were so many homes that still contained the missing or deceased residents' possessions...years or even decades later...that makes me believe that the chances are slim at best. Guess that I always thought that any unclaimed posessions would be either auctioned off or disposed of by the new mortgage holder, or their creditors to settle debts still owed.

    • @DoesntSayDont
      @DoesntSayDont  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea, those are good points. I assume someone must be paying either the property taxes or whatever is left on the mortgage of the house. Given the age of some of the computer hardware, I'd assume the house has been sitting vacant since the early 2000s so it's most likely fully paid off. As long as the taxes are being paid, I guess there's nothing that can really be done about any of it. If those stop getting paid, I'd assume the state/bank would eventually step in and do something about it. Who knows.
