As a dog owner - for all 3 of my babies we had a baby blanket that we would wrap them in after they were born. My husband brought that blanket home before I left the hospital and let our dog smell the baby. It was amazing how our shepherd mix reacted. He was so calm when we brought the boys home, he just knew they were apart of us and are family❤

Im with you, i dont have kids and dont want any. Usually when a youtuber i like goes down the baby road, i tune out and dont really watch much. However Jamie is the only one that i have actually continoued to watch thru the whole time. I love everything about her. Yes shes talked alot about it but she still does her other normal stuff and it hasnt changed her like it does alot of other youtubers that go thru this. Love Jamie!!!!

Tip we got from friends was put all your baby outfits separated from vest to hat in little sandwich bags and label 1st, 2nd and home etc so if there is a need to change every thing is together and you don't have to rummage in the baby bag for bits. Also bring a extra long extension lead incase the socket it far from the bed. Such an exciting time. So happy for you and Jack and 1st and 2nd born Drogba and juno x

Hey I’m a midwife. I would recommend 100% taking your colostrum, most hospitals with have a fridge where you can keep it. If you don’t end up using it, take it home in a cool bag!

My hubby and I have been married over 47yrs, our son is 42 yrs old :)... He's so lucky, he married the love of his life (and we love her too!) and we have THREE grandchildren!!!
How lovely/sweet to see you go through this process! So excited and happy for you! The only thing that gave me pause was seeing a few WHITE items... You have such a wonderful glow, and playfulness and joy, I can't stop smiling like a loon for you guys :). Bless you, your hubby and the baby, we are all wishing good things your way...

I wish you a wonderful speedy delivery. To say you are over prepared is an understatement 😂 I waddled into hospital with flip flops and a sundress, a diaper bag full of baby essentials and a change of clothes for me 42 years ago. Gave birth 3 times and they’re now my best friends, my ride or die, my Wolfpack. Zoe is another favorite of mine, I’m sure she has great advice for you. You will be a wonderful mommy. God bless 🙏

Night sweats are common after birth, I would bring more pj pants and another shirt! Also, if you're planning on pumping, bring a hand pump to get your supply a head start! Slippers since hospital floors are nasty!

Jamie, you are a breath of fresh air. Your hospital packing video is so real and helpful. I am 37 weeks so just one week behind you but I’m also a midwife (however I didn’t pack my bag until Monday and I really struggled too!) I wouldn’t recommend taking your robe out unless you’re not precious about it being ruined. You don’t need towels but you may need more maternity pads. You’ll want to change them often. With regards to the colostrum harvesting, once they are defrosted, they have to be used within 24 hours. Do you have a cooler bag? If not, you can take 1-2 syringes with you but it sounds like you have a great supply anyway! Good luck with everything. I’m very excited for you and Jack!❤

Hi Jamie! student midwife here - we always recommend you take expressed colostrum in with you for your birth! Just incase for any reason baby girl doesn't take to the breast straight away. The hospital will have a breastmilk fridge/freezer. It can be at room temp for 6 hours :) love love love the plans for your labour room and hypnobirthing techniques! congratulations in advance xx

Yh I was going to say the same thing. Also, If you don't want baby to have formula it provides an option in case you have surgery or a procedure and baby needs milk while you are occupied. I was in this situation and will definitely be taking colostrum in.

This all looks perfect! Anything to make you more comfortable. All I can suggest is black clothes if blood makes you uncomfortable (in case of a section) and colostrum, speak to the hospital about storing. In Brighton they refrigerate it immediately, I took 15 in and my baby had them all and needed more from home. (You can’t pump for 48hours and baby had a tongue tie so unable to feed till she was snipped 12 days later ). So much love from a mummy with a 6week old. You’re amazing 😻 xx

27 year old mom of 2 and expecting another. I highly recommend getting a dark robe. With both babies after i got out of the gown i delievered in i stayed in my robe with a nursing bra and my big old diaper. Also to make the first postpartum poo not so scary i highly recomend taking a stool softener. Im so happy for you and jack and wish you the best delivery ♡

Good luck 🥰 I gave birth in Scotland 3 weeks ago, spa music and combs were what got me through the surges! After labour I stayed one night and walked around naked in my disposable pants and flip flops because at that point all dignity was out the window and the hospital was unbearably hot. Otherwise I would recommend something light, short sleeved and with buttons. The frida kit was wonderful. You can ask the hospital for maternity pads but the cold packs from frida were 10/10!!! Also top tip when you pee after birth lean forward and touch your toes, it directs the pee in a way that won’t sting 😄 also H&M maternity bras are super comfortable

  • @maryprieckaerts
    @maryprieckaerts ปีที่แล้ว +3

Bring more pj's for yourself and some day clothes in case you end up staying for longer, blood will end up getting everywhere no matter how your birth goes so wouldn't advise white or light colour clothes. Bring more clothes for baby also in case of accidents. You don't need to bring your colostorum you will be producing more anyway and you can harvest while there also. Get clips for your dummies or they will end up on the floor! Sending best wishes for you all, so excited to see your beautiful angel xx

When I had my baby I watched so many videos and she was my first and I was so nervous about making sure I had everything but looking back our hospital really had almost everything . One tip is I packed for my fiancé too , I made sure I had snacks, juice , pillow and blanket for him because the hospital really only cares about you and the baby. And I reminded him to pack his portable games so he wouldn’t get bored waiting .

As a Mom, personally I think you have everything you need! You did great! The only thing I winced at was the white clothes. I don't know if that's a good idea. You don't know how heavily or not you will bleed after. My best advice honestly is to switch over the light and white colors to dark. When you don't think you will have leaking issues, is EXACTLY when you will. And you definitely won't want to be wearing white or light gray when it does happen. Otherwise, great job!!

14:12 what I learned having 4 babies…always have a backup box in your husband’s car when you’re in hospital, saves waiting until he comes back..sanitary towels, nappies, wipes , clothes, underwear for you and night gowns etc. I didn’t hear you mention scratch gloves for baby, may have missed it, but a must I think. Wishing you all the luck in the world, enjoy her as much as you possibly can, you don’t get the one on one time with subsequent children and although sometimes overwhelming it’s a unique experience. I also had numbers etc in case I needed them for help with post natal depression etc as it’s impossible to research the best when you’re in it , hopefully not needed but a godsend if you do. Love to you and Jack x

I'd say you are SUPER packed for hospital, but I don't think you'll need half of that. I packed very lightly, however, that was over 24 years ago lol...but I packed the bare minimum. So excited for you!! I gave birth almost 6 weeks ago as a first time mum (spoiler: being a mum is amazing and so so special) so my advice from experience would be: my midwives advised against going mad with the spritz for bits because overuse can lead to infection so maybe just be mindful. I also used a peribottle for my first pee after labour and didn't realise that they monitor how much you pee in a sample pot to make sure you're peeing enough after labour and I threw off the measurements by using the peri so maybe ask the midwives before using? I had a baby pink dressing gown and it was absolutely fine so don't worry about the white one, I double layered the Frida pants with the maternity pads and never leaked plus you'll probably be mindful of how often you need to change your pad. So excited for you and Jack, baby girl is coming soooooon xxx

This is too cute seeing you packing your bag to meet your baby. Honestly, from a mom to almost 3 (currently 37.4 weeks pregnant with baby#3) I think you are overpacking BUT it is your first time so don’t let me or others make you feel like you should or shouldn’t pack certain things I just know I was a lot like you my first time as well. I over packed but it’s a learning experience the more you do you’ll figure what are essentials to YOU, baby & Jack and what’s not. Best of luck to you Jamie!! So thrilled for you to meet your baby girl. ❤

It is so cool that you are harvesting colostrum!!! Yes, you should bring it! I had my babybat 30 weeks unexpectedly, so he was in the NICU. The doctors and nurses were so delighted that I was pumping right away because it's so beneficial for your baby. You can pack it in a little cooler bag.

I think the pillow is a great idea, I brought my actual pillow for baby 2 and it made such a difference, especially if you’re in for longer or being induced. I suggest bringing lavender oil. I sprinkled some on a muslin cloth and found it so helpful, sniffing that and my playlist got me to 5cm with my 2nd feeling very zen and calm and now lavender always reminds me of that time and makes me smile. Also if you have been using and like your birth ball bring that in case they haven’t got one available for you to use. I left mine in car and ended up not needing it cos they found me one but was good knowing the back up was there! I also brought make up…I didn’t care if people gave me funny looks as I put it one cos it helped me feel like me! Sending all the calm, positive, mother goddess vibes to you! ❤

  • @Emma-qu3sf

I highly recommend Tena lady pants! The hospital give you disposable pants for straight after but they are very uncomfortable & they don’t always have good sizes. They do give you pads but they are just think lumps so best to take your own. Tena lady pants are the pads & pants in one but you can add a pad for extra security.
I also took nighties, dark with buttons (easy access) because I breastfed xxx

I wore the hospital gown when my first child was born, and I HATED it. For my next 2 births I just wore loose comfy pants, a tank top, and a sports bra. I would recommend darker coloured bottoms during labour (if you’re not in the water) and for the next week or so after as well. I also brought a really soft throw blanket that I love with me for comfort. I brought my headphones for my hypnobirthing play list but never ended up using it. I didn’t bring a ton because I never planned on staying long and luckily didn’t have to. Best of luck to you Jamie and to Jack as well! Can’t wait to hear your labour and delivery story ❤️ you’re going to do great!

    also(last comment I swear lol) ;
-talk to baby like an adult from the start,it helps their language development.
-keep the house as noisy as possible like when you're doing things. It helps caise it means they'll sleep easier and longer so when you're vacuuming and stuff they'll be used to the noise.
-try to avoid dummies. It helps not using them at all but if you are then as little as possible cause it'll be much easier to wean them off it if they develop a dependence.

So a couple of things that helped me that you might be missing. I took arnica tablets after labour for about a week. They are natural and help with swelling and bruising and I feel like they really helped me. Jelly babies are good for the snack bag.
I also harvested colostrum and we chose to leave it at home as I'd heard stories of it being lost/mixed up with other people's in the hospital. We luckily got to go home the same day but if you do need to stay in then jack could go home and get what you need. You're gonna smash it 💪💕

I have not given birth but i have been in hospital a lot and the main tips I give out are to french braid your hair into two braids to stop it from matting while you are lying back and to definitely bring a brush incase you want to take them out. As well as face cleansing wipes i would also bring just some babywipes for you so you can do a ‘sit down bath’ by just wiping down your pits and underboobs for a wee refresh. Also a super hydrating lip balm is a must because of the air conditioning. I would also recommend ear plugs for both you and Jack so you can hopefully sleep through all the beeping and hospital noises if need be. And finally, dont feel you are being too extra with make up or skin care! It made me feel so normal and refreshed just doing my wee skin care routine from bed ❤️

Good luck to you both - what a journey you've been on and will continue to do so. You've done an amazing job so far with Vieve and I'm sure you'll make an amazing job of being a mammy!!! I look forward to seeing the wee girl. Love to you all xxx

I love how organized you are! I would recommend even putting some of your BIG pads in the freezer for yourself when you get home! It helped me so much❤

As I’m through with the ability to get pregnant as I’ve moved into the adult children stage. If you’re open to it I suggest looking into a belly binder. I purchased mine in 2000 online so most likely much more available. My mother told me how she was wrapped after giving birth and your belly is supported from the moment after birth when all the birth sack is cleared. I live in the states and they were very accommodating my request of putting it on after my delivery. I highly recommend as I wore it for the first 6 months felt so supported immediately after giving birth and longer is not harmful it’s just an individual choice. I had support and many cultures use this method of support. Wishing you all the best❤️

You are very prepared. As a mum of 2, I'd recommend maybe twice the amount of pads and nappies (I went through nappies quickly with first as I figured out how to avoid leakage), and some flannels/wash cloths for a quick freshen up if you can't get out of bed or a shower feels too hard.

I also packed night gowns they were so much more comfortable than the hospital gowns and leggings. Our typical hospital stay in the USA is 2 to 3 days. IDK how it is in Scotland. I wish you all the best have a relaxing week so you can have enough rest before you go in labor. I have given birth 4 times and that always helped me.

Hi Jamie! I had my son 22 years ago but I felt for some reason very emotionally attached to this video. You’re more prepared than I was, and I am a planner! you’re right about going home, I literally don’t remember what I wore home, but I know what my baby wore. 😂 Sending you, Jack and baby girl so much love. We are all so excited for you!! Sarah (edited to add: you are an artist! Of course you’re bringing your makeup. Even I brought makeup. Do what makes you happy.) 🤎

I found the hospital boiling so cool jammies are best, more pads and pants than you think and defo separate the babie stuff into wee clear bags. Helps when your on your own and getting the hang of it. Good luck x

Seems like you’ve got everything, one thing I would say is maybe chewing gum as sometimes without freshening up that can help and also soothers, gas and air can make your throat a bit dry afterwards! Good luck! So excited 🥰🥰🥰

I've had 2 babies, def recommend lots more pads and lots more nappies. Also darker closes def best but especially button long shirts so u can do loads of skin to skin without to much effort. ❤

Definitely well prepared, only thing I would suggest is definitely take more pads, you can never have too many of them. I had both my girls are Wishaw and they did provide pads but I preferred the ones I had. 😊xx

Smart on you for being prepared for a bunch of different scenarios. Although it is rare, my mom was in labor with me for 72 full hours, Sunday midday to Tuesday night. It's always good to be prepared but not overboard! Best of luck to you and baby girl! XOXO

So exciting not long now! I’m 39 weeks pregnant with baby girl too and was great to see both of your journey from the start of TH-cam and now going into being parents and very similar stages in pregnancy. I wish you a calm and magical labour bringing your daughter into the world 🥰💖💖

BREAST PADS!! I’m sorry if I missed it but breast pads are an absolute essential especially as you’ve been harvesting your colostrum. Hopefully you won’t be in hospital that long but my milk came in in less than 24 hours and the mess “downstairs” was nothing compared to the soaked mattress and ruined bras I had to deal with. Wishing you the best of luck, you’ve got this girl 🤜 🤛 xxx

I've had 4 babies, 2 boys and 2 girls. I used sudocrem every nappy change from birth and never had a nappy rash on any of them. I did that because in my mind for as good as nappies claim to be there is always going to a time when wee especially is next to their skin. Hope this helps and good luck xoxo

Very good preparation I love it , advice would be add more vests and onsies I found when i had my children they could have 4 accidents in one day and I had a two day stay . It’s good to have onsies in-between those lovely outfits you have as you don’t know how long you will be staying .
