I love so much the care you put in every single detail, your cars are not just ok, are not half assed, they're perfectly restored and customized to the exact spec you aim for. They cure my OCD for details.
Weird how quickly this channel has risen to my top 5 automotive channels. Just a quick FYI, you may already know this or you may find this helpful. You guys know what to look for when designing the hot pipe layout but don’t make the same mistake I did and neglect to layout the routing of the intake pipe at the same time. My turbos are currently sucking hot air off the radiator because I didn’t pay enough attention when I laid out my piping before final welding. I’m probably going to scrap both pieces and try again because I’d like to route my intake to below the PS headlight somehow. I’ve noticed the same problem with most of the off the shelf solutions. Hope this helps and keep up the awesome work!
We are honored to be in your Top 5! Who else is up there with us? Maybe they are also in OUR Top 5s. We appreciate the information on the piping. We just did this with our MKIV with B Side Fabrications. So we are very prepared to tackle this again. Sorry to hear about your mishap taking in heat from the radiator. Any plans to redo the piping?

If you’re wondering what the through line here is, I prefer channels that concentrate on the builds and show details of the actual fabrication. I’m an engineer by day and I do all of my own prototype work and development. I also do all of my own labor and development on my small fleet of 1990s turbo Toyotas, so I enjoy watching others do the same and picking up tips from them is a HUGE bonus for me both professionally and at home. That’s why you guys fit in. I bought my first 2dr JZ chassis and my first twin-turbo 1JZ-GTE right about the time you guys started this Supra project. So we’ve been achieving parallel, but thematically different, builds. Mine is now a purple 1JZ Soarer clone from a LHD SC300 chassis with a blown engine. I absolutely will be redoing the first section of hot pipe and my intake pipe some time in the near future. If you have a link to a view or video of how you routed yours, I would love to see it. Thanks for being so engaging with your fans. I feel that’s another huge feather in y’all’s caps - don’t lose that aspect of what you’re doing. Cheers from Texas! 🍻
Well we are all stoked here at the shop and honored. Especially to steal the spot from Speed Academy. Our black hardtop Supra is the best reference we have for how the piping was ran. If you check out our JDM Icons playlist the Supra videos will all be there. We also have them in our main feed of videos if you want to check them out. We should have some B Roll of the hot pipes in there. If you follow us on IG we would love to see your Soarer clown! And it's purple? How freaking cool! Tag us on IG please!
This car slowly becomes a masterpiece. You guys are artists. I feel like my dream becomes true just by watching you even though I may never see this car in person. Extraordinary job!
Wow, thank you so much! When it's done we hope you're able to find a way to see it in person. Where are you living that you may not get to see it in person?
My favorite builds are on this channel! Appreciate the time, effort and perfection from your team! I need to come work there! If you need a shop chef 👨🏻🍳 hit me up!
@@JustDriven I personally prefer the the "more work" aspect. Having said that, I do enjoy the conversations discussing trivia about these cars from the movies. 🙂
Awesome, we are trying to capture more of the work being performed. With so many projects going on at the same time it's not always possible. With that being said we try and keep cameras on the Supra and Charger at all times!
Alex is all specs and business. Unless he's eating donuts...no wait, even then he's all business. He shaved his mustache so the guys around the shop wouldn't see the evidence he'd been eating all the donuts again.
I see this is coming together! Hate to see you can't source every single part that was used on the original build, but you guys are building it as close as possible. That's all that matters!
I called out the motor mount brackets in the video awhile ago showing the incorrect brackets. Powerhouse Racing makes a billet version of the 93-96 Mounts for use with TRD mounts.
Another info, since you're running the V160 manual transmission, you're going to need the correct serpentine belt tensioner with the shock absorber that keeps the belt from flying off during gear changes.
Thanks for the information. We knew it was a possibility the engine brackets weren't correct. Alex thought the Aristo ones were more narrow so it was unlikely to be those but no real time was lost in replacing them.
We would love to see the Supra on the big screen again. Who knows...? Dom must have a secret garage someplace. He has all these Chargers stored someplace. So makes sense Brian left his Supra with him.
Maybe not. But it'll sound pretty awesome and maybe even better than Craig's original car. Before we change anything from the original car we get Craig's blessing. He was down with this manifold when we showed it to him.
@@JustDriven I'm very good at mechanical and I have alot of experience in fault finding and wiring engine management's also attention to detail is must
Nice! Yah, with Craig's original engine bay we were limited to what we could fit in there and still have it look the part. What kind of power are you working with on your engine build? Has it been tested yet?
@@JustDriven a little over 625 when dynoed in cold weather at 28 psi. Pulled timing in lower rpm to save rods. (Stock bottom end) now it's street tuned to 32psi. So maybe closer to 700 now dependant on weather.
Supra is still at B Side Fabrication having the turbo piping fabricated. The Charger is still having the paint color sanded and buffed to a buttery smooth finish. Updates on both are coming soon.
We are waiting on the Supra to return from B Side Fabrication. It is having the turbo piping fabricated. Once it comes back to our shop we should be able to show those changes off to you guys.
This is a Just Driven vehicle but we are collaborating with Craig on locating parts and he's aiding in getting this as close to his original car as possible.
Should have went 6466 for 2jz. As Jay from real st once said, you dont gain enough at low speed to justify giving up +75whp at high speed. He doesnt recommend anything smaller than 6466 on 2jz motors.
Alex wanted this particular housing to work with our setup and adding nitrous later to have everything work together. He also has had some experience with this turbo and we want to go with what we know. Thank you for sharing your setup. I bet your car RIPS!
@@JustDriven I love it and it hits real hard. You will love the housing size and the 6266 on the 2jz. My only concern was bending a rod at low rpm because the boost comes on so hard and fast.
Our tuner and the other parts Alex put together should keep the engine very safe and very powerful! Alex has a 1J Sportcross that defies belief when he gets on it.
