Hi Tanya, what a lovely thing to say, maybe reschedule for another time. Your brother changed the music schene for thousands of us, and because he was so different and one of a kind, we got to experiment with and bring out our artistic side. He was such a beautiful soul and will never be forgotten X❤️
Great item on Steve. I was born in 1970 and remember the early 80s fondly. Steve strange was such an iconic person from that era. My mum is also buried in the same grave yard as Steve.
@@harryseddon776 The 70's all the way from beginning to end never missed a beat for music. But i also love the 1980's for music. 80's bands moved things more forward into different sound textures due to the electronics with the synthesizer and programming which helped broaden horizons. The 70's is a very interesting decade for music. I think most people who prefer the 80's is because there was a lot of depression in previous times looking at ways to escape it through their own music. But most look back at the 70's stuff today and remind themselves that there was some amazing bands at the time who they were definitely influenced by. People like marc bolan, david bowie, roxy music, brian eno, the talking heads just to name a few, were massively influential.
@@toddblanks , I do believe Queen was influenced by Sweet, on some of their songs I hear Sweets singing techniques and lyrics scattered about. Sweet was one of the most underrated bands of the 70's but their music was fantastic.
I love ultravox and especially their earlier albums with john foxx on vocals. The 1980 visage debut album with fade to grey featuring midge ure is a complete classic.
I think it always will be brilliant. It is something Steve created which is pure art and lives outside of time. Just class. That is why it still sounds just as fresh today.
You pronounce Porthcawl spot on Paul. ❤ xx The wreath with the red ribbon was placed by me at Christmas. The flowers in the bunch on the right I placed on the anniversary of his passing. I do this on behalf of the fans. X ❤
I was 14 when Steve shot to stardom with Fade To Grey. I was instantly hooked not only on the song, but on him and the beautiful girls who always performed with him. I lived in Germany at the time, and the song took the number one spot for a long time. I loved Steve's eccentricity, his clothes, his style. He was a fascinating man, and I know that he influenced my generation in a big way, which I will be forever grateful for. He gave so much to the music industry, and he ushered in the New Romantic Wave, which was so important to many of us back then. I was absolutely shocked back in 2015 when I heard he had passed away. There is a sad truth to the saying that the great people die young. Rest in peace, Steve.
As a kid I would sit alone listening to Visage. I never grew out of the new romantic movement, so would often be bullied when music and fashion moved on. I went to Steve’s 50th birthday party and a few of his events in the mid 2000s. I went alone to his funeral, a 500 mile round-trip. I stood in the rain for two hours waiting. I was interviewed by the Sun, newspaper, heart, radio, and local papers in Radio due to the way I was dressed. The BBC and Boy George tweeted pictures of the wreath I had sent with our picture on. I send a wreath every year to his sister for the grave. I am still so upset that I have never managed to get there myself, so thank you for posting this. Last tune, I represented and led the new romantic, 1980s section of the Queen’s platinum jubilee parade through London. I did it for him. I still cry every time I hear fade to Grey. He was such a pioneer and leader of the 80s music and fashion movement. I will never get over his loss and have a tattoo of the fade to Grey single cover on my arm.
"Fade to Grey" will always be one of my favourite songs, I played this song in my car on my first date 30 years ago this month, with now my wife, pure classic and will never get bored listening to it, I will play the "Visage" album enroute to work tomorrow. "" RIP Steve Strange ""
I was at Visage concerts in the early 80s.....he was brilliant. If anyone's seen the video for David Bowies Ashes to Ashes, Steve is one of the people in the video.....before he hit the big time.
When I first heard Fade to grey I thought wow!! and 40 years on I still think the same.I play it regularly because it’s a timeless classic thx Steve R.I.P.🙏🙏🙏
Fade to Grey . Was listening to that in the car on the way home from work today . Still as good now as it was then . God bless Steve ..... Thanks Paul for another fine tribute ....

I've heard of Visage, heard of Steve Strange but didn't know he'd passed. I think his influence helped make the new romantic fashion styles attractive and available to ordinary people, a bit like the mods in the 1960s. He's left a proud and worthy legacy.
I thought Steve Strange was the coolest guy ever when I was growing up. I'm glad his grave looks like it's visited regularly. R.I.P. Steve Strange. Thanks Paul.
Remember so vividly first time hearing fade to grey on the radio in 1980 I was cleaning the attic up . Had to go to the record shop and get a copy was a pioneering track and still holds up today RIP Steve x
How many people will go straight to utube & watch Visage "Fade to Grey" after watching Paul's video??!!...I certainly will,i remember the song when first released like yesterday.. Absolute classic tune... Thank's Paul...R.i.p Steve Strange...

What a lovely tidy cemetary , liked the way you walked up the middle and back , thanks to steve strange , spandau ballet became a great band. What a beautiful memorial to him .
Hi Paul, when I saw this video it kicked me back , Fade to Grey was my first single i have ever bought. I was a big fan of the new Romantik movement , now I’m 55 and still listen to that music. Thank you for another great video . Greetings from Germany 🙋♀️
A great, informative video. I feel privileged to have known Steve for a number of years. I was an extra in the Ashes to Ashes filming you mention, as well as having attended the one off Blitz Revisited club night at the site of the old Blitz club with Rusty Egan, Princess Julia and Martin Kemp amongst others. For the past 27 years I have been involved in Electric Dreams club in London, which honours the New Romantics, Synth Pop and New Wave scenes. Steve even came along one night to visit us at Gossips which was an honour. Both Steve and Rusty gave us their very own stamp of approval for our club. (Rusty took up our offer to DJ on one occasion). Our club started by sheer coincidence at Gossips, Meard Street, Soho - the very same site where Billy's Club was, and where the New Romantic movement was founded. My experiences with Steve were always enjoyable and very memorable. I always look back with very fond memories of our time together, albeit as brief as it was, and very sadly cut short by his untimely death. I will never forget him and it always raises a smile when I hear Visage music played either at our club or elsewhere.
@@UnusualThings1 A pleasure. I was also looking at some of your other great videos with interest. For example, I was devastated by Melanie Appleby's death at such a young age. You are always welcome as our VIP at Electric Dreams (The Water Rats/The Cannick Tapps).

Thank you Paul for another respectful video.... I was lucky enough to meet Steve a few times in the 80s, he sometimes guest dj at a club in Southend, I have his autograph as well.... Top guy, really lovely, always chatted and had a giggle with us 🙏 x
Another fine tribute ,Paul , although I stopped buying records ..yes ,records in the late 1970's , so this was a bit of an education as well . I often heard fade to grey on many a NAFFI jukebox . So sad that he left the train of life a few stations too early . RIP ,Steve .
Thanks for the lovely tribute to an icon and he sounded a genuine person, loved fade to grey, would dance all night to the New Romantic music back in the fabulous 80s🥰🥰🥰
I really liked him because I was a massive new romantic fan and I dressed up like them as well ,and Evan bought my clothes from Carnaby Street in London ,but I was very influenced by ultravox and Steve strange as well as David Bowie and also Roxy music I have they music , from the 70s , I still am , it's such a shame Steve strange ended up this 😭😭🙏🙏 , l like him so much , makes me sad thinking of him and David as well , fade to gray was Evan written by midge ure as well Thank you ever so much Paul ,I really enjoyed today's program many Thanks always your dear friend Rodney Roger brook 😎🎸✌️❤️🇬🇧🙏🙏
Fitting tribute as all your film are. Brilliant decade the 80's Fade to grey is and will always be an anthem, still as haunting as it was when I first heard it in the Limit club Sheffield .
Great tribute, amongst all his hits “Mind of a toy” was my fav, but undoubtedly a massive pioneer for the beginning of the new romantic era, dearly missed 🌈
Steve was a creative musical genius and way ahead of his time. Fade to Grey is one of my favourite songs of the 80s, it's an anthem of that era. Steve's music and Visage were the essence of the New Romantic genre. It was nice to see the comment from his sister Tanya. Your audience reaches far and wide these days. Steve's music will never get old, because it's timeless. The 80s were such exciting times to be a teenager. The brilliant music, sensational movies and unique fashion were iconic and unforgettable. There will never be another decade like the 80s. RIP and Respect Steve.
Steve Strange was a great eccentric, his smiley face was a breath of fresh air compared to the moody looks of the time 😊 The good old British weather makes us say ‘filled with rain like an English summer’ countless times every year. My kids know his music and say it as well. Thanks for showing us Steve’s final resting place x
What a great video Paul - as always. I'll be singing 'Fade to Grey' for the rest of the evening. A classic which will never fade into the background. It comes around all the time, and it's still 'worthy' today as it was when it first came out. Steve's grave is so well tended and obviously lots of love going into that. I love the headstone with the picture of Steve on it. It's perfect! So sad that he left this life too soon. But he was obviously needed elsewhere for reasons we don't know about. Loved the video. Well done ~ Cobs.
Brilliant musician was Steve. His tunes were brilliant. Nice to see by his well kept grave that he hasn't been forgotten, Great headstone too. R.I.P SS. Thanx for this one Paul, Brilliant 👏.
GREAT VIDEO PAUL, Thank you for remembering this iconic legend.. I went to his MEMORIAL Concert which remembered his incredible life..a very emotional yet uplifting evening celebrating a trully wonderful era defining man..
Another excellent summary and presentation of the life and sad passing of a true entertainer, thank you and will look forward to more in the future, perhaps international resting places such as John Lennon?
Thank you so much for this video, out of all of the '80s music stars, Steve is one of my favorites. As a teenager in the early 80's growing up in a small farm town in the middle of nowhere in America, when I discovered Steve Strange and Visage, my life changed. I felt like I found 'My Tribe'. In 1985 when I ran away from home at age 17, the music of Visage was my constant companion, something about the music and him inspired me so much and helped give me courage live life fearlessly and see the wonder and beauty in it. A song he released in 1984 *'Casualty'* really spoke to me: *_At 17 you're in a world of your own_* *_You think that no-one quite understands_* *_Your mother is telling you to stay at home_* *_Your father has quite different plans_* *_You've packed your bags and you're ready to leave_* *_Like so many times before_* *_You leave the envelope on the kitchen table_* *_As you turn the key of the door_* Seeing his tombstone is so sobering, its such a unique, un-nameable feeling. Steve Strange We Love You 🙏
Oh Yes, i saw Steve in 2002 at the Here and Now tour, in London , he was Epic , with his guy dancers. Was my Favourite Band of the Night , so Visual. Love his face of Artwork and Colour. 🌻❤️
A fellow Welsh person like myself ,I loved Steve . Way ahead of his time .A Lovely ,kind and funny person. Steve = Colled mawr .A huge loss . Caru ti a nos da . Love you and good night xxxx Thank you so much ,Paul xxxx
Loved Visage. Fade to Grey is one of my top 5 new romantic tunes. Steve was funny on that hairdressing programme. I didn’t realise it was 8 year since he passed. Time is flying. 😢
Fade to grey is such an iconic song for me, takes me straight back to our old family home when I was a nipper, like yourself I was born in the 70’s and remember the early 80’s and seeing these new wave bands on top of the pops etc, I’m my opinion it was much better times in those days and better music! RIP Steve and thanks for your contribution to music 👍
Another lovely tribute Paul.. visage were very good...I admired Steve strange because he just did what he wanted...still got visage album..not forgetting 'mind of a toy...-thats a brilliant song 👌 what a beautiful final resting place and the grave is wonderfully tended too...cheers again Paul..hammergazz 👍
Wonderful Respectful tribute to Steve Strange .He was such a talented fascinating and brilliant performer . Its a tragedy we lost Steve at such a young age the world of music was a much better place with Steve in it .thank you for the music you left us .Forever RIP Steve ..
He was my hero and I loved him ❤he had a great voice and until today, it gives no other artist with so many different faces 👌🏽💪🏾he is the king of the 80es for me ❤
Such amazing music back then, artists such as steve made the 80/ 90,s The music was so unbelievable back then Fantastic sound's the best era that ever was, Visage along with others made the music scene that will live on in infamy and all these will never be beaten or forgotten, so incredible, i am the same age all but 3 month's as steve,. such huge legend's..... your music and soul lives on never to be forgotten.....
Very interesting and respectful video. Steve had a long standing drug addiction going back to his early twenties and although he may have finally beaten it , it took its toll on his mental and physical health. That plus money troubles was part of why he ended up living with his sister and her family.I also believe he had some kind of stroke several years before he passed away. I remember a friend of mine, who is sadly no longer with us, telling me that when he worked in a record shop in London in the 1980s, Steve was banned from coming in because of his previous behaviour (probably due to the drugs). And as every Bowie fan knows, Steve was in the video for Bowie's 1980 song 'Ashes to ashes ' (filmed in Scarborough I think). Anyway, Fade to grey is a brilliant record and one of the seminal tracks of the early 1980s. A haunting song from a unique artist.
Great era. So nostalgic all that period was an immense change in music and fashion. I loved buying all my gear in Carnaby street. Going see bands such as Japan, Ultravox, Numan and dressing up was all part of such epic sounds. Still play all those tunes such as the Human league etc. The Blitz I was never in, but it was quite a time looking back.
Thank you so much, I'm Steve's sister Tanya, we could of met for a coffee
Ahh Tanya, I wish I would have known. I hope I did him and you proud x

I was only thinking about you doing Steve Strange the other day, can't wait.
Steve Strange was a great eccentric, his smiley face was a breath of fresh air compared to the moody looks of the time 😊
The good old British weather makes us say ‘filled with rain like an English summer’ countless times every year. My kids know his music and say it as well.
Thanks for showing us Steve’s final resting place x
Mind of a toy, a truly spectacular song. Thought provoking lyrics, one of my favourites. RIP Steve x
Fade to grey absolute awesome song 🎶 I've danced to that a few times over the years🕺thanks for another great vid Paul always done with respect
I'm Canadian and I have to say that I haven't heard of him before but still found this interesting...Thank you Paul
Brilliant musician was Steve.

Nice to see by his well kept grave that he hasn't been forgotten, Great headstone too.
R.I.P SS.

Hearing Fade to Grey took me back to my teens! Well done and RIP Steve!
Thanks Paul, great video and tribute to an 80s icon.
A song he released in 1984 *'Casualty'* really spoke to me:
*_At 17 you're in a world of your own_*
*_You think that no-one quite understands_*
*_Your mother is telling you to stay at home_*
*_Your father has quite different plans_*
*_You've packed your bags and you're ready to leave_*
*_Like so many times before_*
*_You leave the envelope on the kitchen table_*
*_As you turn the key of the door_*
Seeing his tombstone is so sobering, its such a unique, un-nameable feeling. Steve Strange We Love You 🙏
Oh Yes, i saw Steve in 2002 at the Here and Now tour, in London , he was Epic , with his guy dancers. Was my Favourite Band of the Night , so Visual. Love his face of Artwork and Colour. 🌻❤️

I loved Visage, still listen to Fade to Grey. Rest in peace Steve, a true innovator ❤
Immediately transported back to the 80s! He definitely stood out...thank you, Paul. #SchoolMemories
I just got shivers and head tingles when you showed his beautiful grave. Beautiful❤️
