Instead of spending time with his friends and family he wasted his youth all on her because he was too young to feel and understand love while she on the other hand, knew what was happening and she just kept going, not only that but because of all that trauma he went through, he still struggles to cope and to move on while she on the other moved on as it never happened. This happens to male students but because it’s a female teacher, everyone will think it’s alright and they get applaud for it, while if it was a male teacher, first though they go to jail instantly, not given a chance like her so it’s a crazy world we live in

@@Maluandsheila You can't see him as a victim? Maybe something is wrong with you because it's pretty goddamn obvious he's the victim here. He wasn't forced, but he was groomed. That's the whole point of grooming. It's to make it seem like you want it, that no one made you do what you did and that you wanted it as much as the predator. The predator uses grooming as a method of clarification and gaining trust, establishing a connection, and sexual interest within their target which is exactly what Claire did. She used that kiss to clairfy that he had a sexual attraction to her and she took advantage of that. Many children have sexual attractions to adults, but that doesn't mean the adult should use that attraction as a way to establish an emotional connection and then turn it into an abusive relationship.

And as far as Claire, she was not happy with her married life so she only had sex with Eric becoz she actually truly loved Eric and so as Eric and Claire desperately wants to believe her relationship with Eric.So in that case, Eric is not supposed to be a victim here. What do u even mean by victim is when someone is intentionally forcing u to have sex with them but Claire did not even forced Eric to have sex with her. This is ridiculous. Meaningless, I can’t see him being a victim but all I know that he had a desire to have sex with his crush hot teacher 👩🏫
Oh he absolutely did want her. And yes, he was 17 at the time. When I was 17 I had a long time crash on my dad’s friend who was 36. Did I know I wanted him? Absolutely. And its so far away from me in my 15 being groomed by an old predator. It almost seems like if the society would not make it the way it did and their relationship will go on until slowly dying away by itself, he would not had all this trauma.
This so beautiful and even Nick said something about how you may find yourself rooting for this couple at one point but to strip it down and see it for what it really is, is abuse. Eric broke my heart and was so good at portraying subtle moments of discomfort and a powerful innocence of someone who will have to carry what happened to him for years.
Yeah they made us really think that their relationship at the start is completely consensual and okay but it truly is an abusive/grooming behavior that shattered Nick's life that he didn't notice at the moment

It starts out like a regular drama but it continues great. At first I didn't think I would cry. I felt Eric's pure love and pain.Btw Nick Robinson so f.kn atractive
I know I'm going to get a lot of blacklash for saying this but it's just how I felt while watching the show. I don't feel like an abuse was depicted, at least what we saw in the first 5 episodes. Obviously I'm not saying that teachers hooking up with students is something that should be romanticized, but at least in this partitucar case portrayed in the show I didn't feel like it was child molestation or abuse. Eric is 17 and turns 18 during the relationship, yes, and he's not emotionally ready for such a clandestine relationship, we can all see that, but that last scene where she tells Claire that she created those moments, trying to make it feel like he was not at all aware that he was pursuing a relationship with his teacher, didn't sit well with me. I've also read a lot of opinions that blame Claire for all the trauma that Eric has to endure since she went to jail. Sticking to what was shown in the TV series, I feel like the trauma that he developes comes mainly from society's reaction to his relationship and how people treat him because they know who he is, not strictly from the relationship with Claire itself, so basically he has to deal with what society thinks for the rest of his life and the show tries to blame Claire in that last scene in stead of blaming society. In conclussion, I want to make clear that I don't think that the relationship they had was Ok, but I just feel like the show is a little bit unfair with Claire. I hope I don't get banned or something
Yeah, I completely agree with you that there's a factor that society depicted sleeping with your teacher as "cool" or "Legend" and that shouldn't be normalized at all. abuse is abuse. I think that Claire started the abuse or manipulation but society or Nick's social circle of friends created a bad influence on his mental health and ultimately his life

No it was totally wrong. I knew somebody whom went through this. It's awful. I watched this out of interest and I loved the ending when he blamed her. .....he was right.

If she just waited until he was 18 and out of high school it probably could have happened I think. Age gap relationships are becoming more normal. I also think she should’ve just divorced her husband when she started gaining feelings. It just hurt her husband more at the end.

Oh please, he was 17/18 and she was over 30. He didn't know anything about life or love, he was young. The teacher manipulated him in all the "romance" scenes. It has a name, it's called abuse

This is so well done and really highlights the abuse Eric went through. I hated Claire so much at the end
He seemed to have no problem until the affair was exposed . If affair had come to a natural end and both just went their separate ways would he have any problems. Doubt it. Think in cases like this its the publicity etc that is more likely to affect the student than the affair itself Must have known how things would go down when exposed so if he could not stand the heat he should have stayed out of the kitchen as the saying goes
@@johnbarlow4572 The kid's life was ruined (mental, emotional, social, etc.) and you think he knows that at the time before being exposed and when he was filled with lust and physical attraction doesn't mean he was capable of doing and thinking rationally. These things shouldn't be thought of as consent or maturity and should be with dignity and morality as a person let alone an educator

Not the greatest experience but it did not ruin my life as i was aware about sex and treated it as a learning experience . 100% consented to it. Dated a 25 year old when i was 18 and was under no elusion it was going to last and just enjoyed it while it lasted . At the age this guy was i was capable of making my own mind up about what i was doing with my life. We are all different i suppose and maybe i was mature for my age . Just do not see how these experiences have long term effects on people just because its a teacher /student thing. If the student is over the age of consent it should be up to those individuals involved and the parents if the affair should happen or not. I would just make it a rule that not in the same school and one would have to relocate if serious about the relationship .

What needs to be done is students entering high school are told that both parties involved in these shenanigans will be charged and the same sentence handed out . Maybe then they would be more inclined to keep it in their pants or legs shut in the case of females. Parents would also be more likely to be more interested in there sex lives as they would not want there little darlings going to jail.

it does seem like the usual story . Student has no problem engaging in a relationship even though they know the teacher will be i serious trouble if caught . When affair is exposed they crumble and fail to stand by the teacher and take some responsibility for there part and basically throwing them under the bus .
the ending is kinda meh. Claire didn’t really love eric and I just feel soo sad for him. She destroyed him. He wasted his youth for her... but I was still hoping they’d still get together at the end and continue their love story into something real. I even made up this theory in my head that one of claire’s daughter was his... There’s just so many more open endings they could fill. Sadly there won’t be anymore season. Sighsss
That’s kinda weird to think… But I think it might be because this show was supposed to show how real this stuff happens and how it doesn’t just happen to females but males too… it’s supposed to feel real because it is real.. grooming happens so much and it’s disgusting and sad how some people get away with doing it while people like Eric’s character can’t ever really cope or get closure after getting away from their predator

@@caseyhansen4583 Accurate is how i see this story . Students have no problem when affairs are ongoing but crumble when the going gets tough and normally throw the teacher under the bus . Never seen a case where the student has gone to authorities to report a teacher for hitting on them or one where the sex was on one occasion but always on a number of occasions and over a period of time . Very rarely does the student stand by the teacher. .Heiry Calvi and Stacy Schuler are cases where they did and i saw one where the parents backed the student who would not testify against the teacher . Seems to be the way of things nowadays and its look after number one . I am from a time when the rule was " a gentleman never tells" and we stood by our friends . If the student is over the age of consent i don't see why its not just left to those involved teacher , studen and parents .
I wonder about the power and authority thing . Within the classroom yes and i have seen a case where a teacher was giving better grades to the student and another where the teacher threatened to fail the student if he ended the affair . Clearly both out of order. Once the affair starts is the power not with the student as they can demand anything from the teacher with the threat of exposing them if they do not comply. No consequences for the student as they are seen as "victims" by the law and in most cases the parents

If the sexual relationship between teenagers is legal or in Europe, if intimacy between half-siblings is okay too, I hope one day this thing would get validation as well. This tv show is so powerful, and so, so important. The acting is superbe although some parts (dialog, scenes, actung) felt flat to me.
