It's not so much for looks(though I imagine for many people it is), it just happens to be the natural color of TiN coating that increases wear resistance, lowers friction, and makes it easier to clean. So yes, a lot of people choose it for the look(which over personally never liked), but it does serve a functional purpose on a defensive/"tactical" handgun.

@Paul Bargo 1911s are awesome weapons. Especially when you consider the design is 110+ years old and still going strong today. Yes, they have flaws, 7 rounds in a mag plus one in the tube, need some custom work, and tuning for serious accuracy, etc... Originally they were designed as a cavalry weapon replacing the saber. The US Cavalry ordinance wanted a pistol that could be easily loaded on a horse, and packed a punch at a distance of out to 15 feet. Recoil is not punishing and most people can learn to be reasonably proficient. For the most part a pistol is designed to be a short range defensive weapon.

It's the remains of the KRISS SPHINX after they went bankrupt. Their inventory was bought and now they're produced as the B&T MKII and the Phoenix fusion. Look at the bodies and you'll see where the slides have been milled to remove any of the previous SPHINX markings.
The golden finish actually can be practical. Some titanium nitride based finishes are gold colored. Such finishes offer great corrosion & wear resistances.
Nighthawk specifies NOT to push the slide release down with an empty mag in the magwell. The mag spring pressure can cause excess wear to the slide release (Nighthawk owners manual) I honestly dont believe anyone could just break a NHC 1911 like that anyways, but eh.

I love my Les Baers and Ed Brown SF .45s. Zero decorative fru fru. Clean, lean, and reduced to the most primal 1911 design. No French borders, No gold barrels. No flat topping, No 40 LPI checkering wirh matching 40 LPI on the extractor head, no ball end milling, no bull barrels or fluting on the barrel chamber, just pure social work pistols. No silly features.
@Paul Bargo if someone could comfortably afford it that's good and another gun always is a good idea to me. Just looking at it from a design perspective I just don't see anything other than handfitting that would justify that price. If it has cam locks instead of link locks and all that kind of stuff it would be a lot more interesting to me. I'm just not a fan of all of these manufacturers coming out with crazy expensive stuff. It just looks to me like they believe HK doesn't charge enough.
My personal favorites would be the M9, and the Five-Seven. But mostly the Five-Seven. It’s a perfect example of why FN is such a top-notch company. In fact, their FAL is legit my favorite rifle as well.

I love my HKs, i got VP9, Mk23, USP in 9mm .40 and .45, HK45C USP .40c. idk why but i haven't found a gun that shoots more smoothly and reliably than my USP .40

Absolutely love all the 5 but the bonus number 6, not so much. If I lived in America I would most definitely be a "gun nut". For looks, my favourite would be between 2 and 3.
SIG P365XL with specter comp and holosun (use 17 rd mags). Kimber K6 DASA with 3 inch barrel. Ruger Mark 4 Tactical with ring and suppressor, holosun. Mossberg 940 Pro Tac. Bond Arms Rowdy .45LC/.410. The last is the least expensive but it’s a fun derringer.
The only thing I got from this video is you pull back on the slide to release it as opposed to pushing the slide stop down. Better for the weapon, easier to do under duress, and Garand Thumb’s dad, Travis Haley, said so.

Gold barrels on tactical guns is the equivalent of putting a chrome grill on a tank.
Think of it like this: Gold Barrels on Tactical guns is the Equivalent of putting Gold TE37s on a Classic Mustang.

The only thing I got from this video is you pull back on the slide to release it as opposed to pushing the slide stop down. Better for the weapon, easier to do under duress, and Garand Thumb’s dad, Travis Haley, said so.
