There was a young man during the time of the Prophet Muhammad who converted to Islam, and when his mother found out about this, she became angry and sad and promised herself not to eat until she died of hunger.
A verse was revealed about this young man in the Qur’an ) وَإِن جَاهَدَاكَ عَلَىٰ أَن تُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا ۖ وَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا ۖ وَاتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ مَنْ أَنَابَ إِلَيَّ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ (The meaning of that verse is that you should obey your parents in everything except in worshiping God. This is the only disobedience that you can do in Islam.

I want to revert but I want someone to go with me to the masjid in Philadelphia, I have Muslims family members but I had a friend in mind to come with but he is Christian. Would he be able to witness me take my shahada ? Or is that forbidden ? I want to treat this religion with the upmost respect.
Congrats sister on your decision. You can take your friend with you. wittness is not necessary, however there will be some muslims in the mosque during the occasion. Don't wait plz, life is giaranteed
No problem he can accompany you there. People of other religions can also visit the mosque. You can tell the imam or anyone in authority in the mosque that you want to take Shahada and he is your Christian friend. May Allah make everything easy for you brother ♥

It is difficult for me to become a Muslim in my country. It's a big responsibility, in my opinion it's not enough just to say, but also to really happen. I wouldn't even mind being completely alone. I'm trying to change my whole life, it's very, very difficult.

They are still considered as sins but Allah forgives you as long as you try to leave them. There's no sin that can get you out of Islam except the major one, shirk, which means you worship another God with Allah.

The prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said
"Every child that is born, is born upon the Fitrah(Islam), but his parents make him a Jew, a Christian, or a Zoroastrian".
Because Islam is truth, and likely because you are searching for truth.
And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.

I want to revert but I want someone to go with me to the masjid in Philadelphia, I have Muslims family members but I had a friend in mind to come with but he is Christian. Would he be able to witness me take my shahada ? Or is that forbidden ? I want to treat this religion with the upmost respect.

No problem he can accompany you there. People of other religions can also visit the mosque. You can tell the imam or anyone in authority in the mosque that you want to take Shahada and he is your Christian friend. May Allah make everything easy for you brother ♥

If you are already Muslim, great. Now it's just a matter of trusting Allah. Try your best to perform obligatory actions. Stay away from sins. Make dua (supplication) often. Read the Quran daily. Fix your character. And lastly, have trust in Allah❤. Allah knows your situation better than anyone.

How to accept Islam?
You have to believe that there is only one God, Allah, who created the entire universe, and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is his final messenger on earth. If you say no god but allah and Muhammad(pboh) is his final messenger with total sincerity, you have become a Muslim. It really is as simple as that

It is difficult for me to become a Muslim in my country. It's a big responsibility, in my opinion it's not enough just to say, but also to really happen. I wouldn't even mind being completely alone. I'm trying to change my whole life, it's very, very difficult.

Even if you have bad habits, but try to leave these habits and ask Allah, God, to help you leave these bad habits. They are still considered as sins but Allah forgives you as long as you try to leave them. There's no sin that can get you out of Islam except the major one, shirk, which means you worship another God with Allah.
