Ssangyong Motor's Korando Family succeeded in completing the race at the 1994 Dakar Rally, setting the first official record in Korea and placing 5th in the Group T3 (completely modified) category and 8th in the overall ranking.
I always had a soft spot for Ssangyong since my late favourite uncle had a 98 Musso and we had many great adventures with him . Was waiting for some models to buy so excited about the Torres and the EV version of it 😊
SsangYong represent surprisingly appealing offering, people here in Slovakia seams to love it, two brand new park right close to my house, I´m not so sure about new name, it can easily recall some generic Chinese brand, especially here in Europe
I am from Slovakia ! My uncle bought a Korand, year later bought one my brother and I am going to buy a Rexton, once facelift hits market. Absolutely great cars and great value !! And I do drive actucally companys Audi A6 and MB GLS. Id say Rexton is very on par with those cars. Id rather buy a new Rexton than 4yr old MB or Audi at this point. Torress looks very very cool !!!
Thankyou!~ Can you please do a video on the new 2024 Rexton? 4x4's in Australia is a big thing and it has a really good value proposition. Thankyou for the the reviews!
Hi from A&O, sadly, this brand is underrepresented in Australia. More service places are needed. Yes, they look smart, but there are not very many on our roads. We are in Gangnam near the Lotte Tower and just on time to see the Cherry blossoms. Since the Musso production stopped, there were no dealer expensions
My personal thoughts - which I try not to leave on my YT and public channels, but - I just appreciate SSangYong continuing on. Car brands with heritage and stories are scarce, many going bankrupt and M&A'd, I'm just one happy Korean seeing SY continuing on as KG Mobility :)
Not sure if still , this car brand used to be a subsidiary of Mercedes Benz! It used to be equipped with Mercedes engines (with Mercedes badging on the engine )

I really wish KG/SsangYong had hybrid or plug in hybrid models as well. Not all countries are equipped to go full electric straight away. The BYD battery tie up is real worry given how many BYDs have gone up in flames in China.
Looks like they’ve taken bits and pieces from other cars like keep for the front, palisade for the back and front and mixture of Land Rover for the side view…
However, the design is tops, and ythe car brought good 4x4 testing results. It is not a 3.5 tonnes towing car, only good for 3 tonnes! They have a stronger suspension kit on request if needed, and this is why one can see them on Fraser Island/Australia in action and caravaners are happy with the product. A big step in the right direction!
I wonder if Renault Korea (Renault Samsung) will launch the Austral or Espace in Korea and compete with this SUV. And I also wonder if they'll rebadge it as a different model with the Renault Samsung marque.
Hello from Turkiye Istanbul. Thanks for your unique video. We appreciate that. We would like to ask a question to you about Torres. What do you think about the brand and this model and plus there will be a brandnew 100% electric version of this model. The advantages and disadvantages. Do you think this vehicle is dependable l mean there can be always cronic problems of all cars but on the other hand no one wants to afford a trouble.😅 Your feedback is so important thanks for the video. Have a great day.🎉
Hi there. l would like to buy a new vehicle 4x4. This vehicle is in my mind. Plus l think of Hyundai Tucson and Ford Kuga. As a car expert which one do you prefer or l can ask which one you buy and why among these. Thanks.
I don't know about Ford Kuga since we don't get it in Korea. As for the comparison with Tucson, two cars are quite different in terms of what they focus on. Tucson certainly is more of an urban SUV, while Torres provides more confidence on off-roady conditions. Use the above as your guidance making the decision, if you city drive your car most of the times, Tucson has more pros over Torres tbh.
I've never heard of it? What are you talking about? In my country, Ssang Yong is a VERY, VERY famous company with many dealers in ALL major cities! Maybe in other continents it is not famous, I don't know exactly, but in Europe I think they have dealers in all countries. The only VERY big problem, the HUGE problem with Ssangyong cars, is the very, VERY high fuel consumption level , almost double compared to another Asian cars like Toyota, Mazda or Honda for example... Engines are very good, durable, but the fuel consumption level is horrific
Great to hear! SY sure does get a lot of love in places where they’ve managed to reach, but still not as big as Hyundai Motor Group 😭 Would love to hear them continuing on as KG Mobility.
I see a bit of rav4, land cruiser in the body, a bit of jeep in the grill with a hint of Hyundai tuscan in the bonnet arc and a bit of ranger rover headlight. I have a Kia Niro which has been great since new, 3yrs later still no probs + has a 7yr warranty. Koreans seem to have there reliability locked down so far...
Successful video. I hope everything is okay with you. Torres's review of Torres is very satisfying, that's why I wanted to write to you. I am writing you from Türkiye. Ssang Young Torres is a good car(4x4 full) but it is not sold in Türkiye. I m sure it would be liked very much if it was sold in Türkiye. Ssang Young has a distributor in Türkiye but they don't know that they will sell it in Türkiye. Will Torres be sold in Türkiye how can I get it if not for sale. I ask for your help. unfortunately, the worst aspect is that secondary touch screen. SUCH a poor choice. When the trend is to get some more physical buttons as the consumer pushed back to the full touch screen "experience". For me, that is actually a deal breaker, as the rest of the car is so cool
Handsome design the designers excelled themselves. Won't be buying one as the top or range 2 wheel drive is 38,000 pounds in UK on the road. Korea 20,000 pound , usa 22,000 pounds, newzealand 25, 000 pounds SAME EXACT CAR when converted. Old engineering with a 185 gram and poor mlles per litre overall. SLOW REACTION AUTO BOX AND LAGGY TEC SCREEN. What do you expect when its priced soo soo cheap in korea and the other countries i named above but here in UK you can buy a Mg HS Trophy Auto box with similar extras for 11, 000 pounds cheaper with 7 yr warranty. Four wheel drive isn't a big desire for city and townies in UK which will even give less miles per litre .Just sayin
@@CarSceneKorea the ev version is 4 to 5 thousand pounds more but it may be a better environmentally. Should have swerved the petrol only for uk and been a non plug in hybrid instead

After that, it was acquired by Mahindra Group of India. Currently, it has been acquired by the kg group. It is an old car brand in Korea.
It does not look like anything but itself. Those who think it looks like Range Rover or Jeep because of very minuscule details are generally people who know nothing about cars. It is like when you say all Blacks or all Asians look alike. 🙄Nothing "cheap" about its DRG. The hook on the hood's edge is a design intended for tie-down. If you are moving a long roof-top cargo (such as a Kayak), you can use that hook for tie-down.
Hope they dont sued by Jeep😋
