Just saying as a former Canadian avionics technician who's coded a lot of CF-18 flights with the IFF. Both in a secured code room with another guy where we would read strips of paper, enter the codes into a physical device, and then punch each IFF out on the flightline. I don't think I'm giving anything away when I say each IFF is coded with at least 48-hours of codes. So, if you have today's codes and the clock strikes midnight (ZULU) then you're still good because the IFF will have next day's codes as well. Plus, in combat especially, each plane gets interrogated as they taxi for take off. It's a procedure where a member of the groundcrew holds up a device sending various signals to the IFF, located just below the pilot's seat and on the lefthand side of the aircraft, all to make sure that not only is the IFF working but that the actual codes are good as well. Now, obviously somebody screwed up. Usually the authority to shoot something down like an airplane comes from a combat controller. You know, either AWACS or the U.S. Navy airborne equivalent. Maybe on the ship? My question, though, as a Canadian is... If one of your own ships fires at you? Well, are you Americans allowed to shoot back, LOL 😊
It's sad but true, blue on blue happens way more often than we care to mention and not just in the air. In ground ops too. I will say as a past submariner, our chain of command was borderline paranoid about this

Iceman in Top Gun seemed to be the one who had his ego in check and was concerned about his fellow aviators. But he was painted as the bad guy

Chevy Chase should definitely have been in "Top Gun" (Callsign: Sparky)!
Opening scene from Angel has Fallen involved drones....
USAF Band has a Christmas video every year.
When is Skid coming back?
china just ordered 1 million drones.
Mover. The only one right about the frigging trone problematic. AIRPLANES IDIOTS.
Denial of the existence of drones in this channel is frankly disgusting 😮shame I used to be a big fan of these guys
