welcome to another episode. Not the usual from us but keeping it real and RAW. Things haven't gone to plan unfortunately. We set out to be transparent as possible and this was a massive learning curve for us.
Hey guys had the same experience with Roadstar and I don’t care about naming. I called the next day to cancel thinking I had a cooling off period. But no. They were going to make me go thru with the build regardless. Took weeks to get out of the build and I too lost 1k.
Thanks for watching. So disappointing to hear. Something needs to change. The whole industry needs a government body to regulate.
In NSW all heavy trucks must enter a Heavy Vehicle Safety Station if their Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) is larger than eight tonnes (except Bell, Chinderah, Pine Creek, and Halfway Creek - 4.5 tonnes). And yes just did my licence and they didn’t mention the 4.5t requirement!
Crazy- we now know. Just hoping it’s a slap on the wrist and now we know. Still waiting for NHVR to respond. 🙈
Sorry to hear that, wow. I would never buy a new van again. My first van was brand new around 1999 or 2000 nothing but problems. 2nd Van 2003 again problems. I now own a 2nd hand Lotus and love it. No leaks and I did all the upgrades myself. Cost $44K and maybe $10k on the upgrades. I know not in your league but I love my van.
That is fantastic for you. We love our current van but just very disappointed with what happen and left a bad taste in our mouth 🙈
What’s the old saying. If it sounds too good……..hopefully you won’t need part of that 9k to pay your fine…….MOST people travelling would just assume that the stations are for trucks, but saying that, how many caravans driving down the highway would be overweight. Probably pay off the national debt if they all got stopped. Safe travels.

We had issues years back with a company and we had to cancel the deal and not pick up the brand new van 3 days from the delivery date

Sadly, I'm not surprised to hear this. This has been going on for a pretty long time in the caravan business and I do hope some regulations come into play to protect us as the consumers. P. S. I really hope you guys don't get the fine😅 I love your vids, they always make me smile. Cheers.

Pretty disappointing. We own a lotus. Wink wink
When you pay a deposit you also need a contract with price and features. Handing over a deposit without this is your fault.
Hard lesson learnt.
Don't most contracts or big purchases have cooling off periods?
Have I got a caravan story for you. Would love to share as it goes to the caravan industry issue big time. Company selling new caravans where you can’t buy replacement tyres for our 18 month old Snowy Caravan. We are making a decision to go to media.
100% we feel the more people shed light the more likely this is to stop. The whole industry needs an overhaul. I know there is some good companies out there, there has to be 🙏
I have never heard good things from people buying a Lotus caravan, go Titanium.
We so wish we had 🙈 especially now the manufacture have blocked us on socials 🤣

There should be cooling off periods I totally agree with this.

Yeah lesson learnt but shonky salesmen shouldn’t be allowed to be in this industry

We think caravan company. NHVR so far hasn’t sent a fine so we think it was a warning 🤞
@@ThePaynefulFamily i live in northern NSW and we were thinking of doing a trip across and up the West coast, we did Adelaide last year when we went to the state of origin and went up the middle then did the Qantas founders museum, I think Archie and Ace would have loved the Age of Dinosaurs in Winton
it would be 3 guys doing the trip we were looking at an Adria caravan

@@ThePaynefulFamily caravan we are looking at is used but we would have to look more into it, i think after your experience and hearing others i think we will have to tread carefully to make sure we don't get a bomb, but from your vlogs i am looking forward to it, our thoughts were doing it next year so it gives us time to study and look at our options. I do recommend Erldunda Roadhouse at Ghan in the NT very good food in the roadhouse as well as plenty to do around it like Uluru, Kings Canyon etc
