The song was written by Bach about his friend Steven Adler, the drummer in Guns N Roses who had such a bad heroin addiction that he was fired from the band, and while they went on to be one of the biggest bands in the world his life spiraled downwards, to the point that five years after this song he had a drug related stroke that has left him with partial facial paralysis ever since.

Popcorn Adler was in GNR during the height of their popularity so idk what "went on to become" as if Guns N Roses made more than one album worth ever mentioning after Appetite For Destruction. Nobody was listening to that shit by the time they had to hire Buckethead so an actual musician would be involved with the process again at some point lol

I have seldom seen as much authentic awe, emotion and admiration as these Skid Row videos are getting. They deserve all the love, not only bc back in the day they suffered a bit from being too heavy for mainstream but too cheesy and glam for others.
Sebastian Bach is just an unbelievable talent and a force of nature but lets not forget how much he practiced and studied his art. You can have technique without emotion but you can't have emotion without technique. -any Bach ever.
Many mistakes are mistakes until you make something else out of them, true. If we're talking about jazz, marriage or business, no problem, but if someone dies, a house burns down, or like a friend from school did back in the day; burned down square km's of old natural forest in a nature reserve, you still get to pay millions in compensations to the state no matter how much your character had improved.

if you havent heard steelheart you gotta add them to the list! add Steelheart - she´s gone . also ill never let you go. the singer Miljenko Matijevic has one of the most insane vocals but his carreer got derailed in an accident during a live performance in 92. he got hit in the head so he suffered broken nose, cheekbone, jaw, twisted spine, and severe memory loss.

Sebastian is my hands down, favorite vocalist ever. I had no idea who he was or anything about Skid Row until I saw them live, opening for Bon Jovi on April 10, 1989. Within 30 seconds of Sebastian's first vocal I knew I was heading to the record store to get their album the next day. And as for his hair and the rest of his looks, my sister was also at that concert. She went shopping the next day too, but for the poster instead of the album. And while this song probably shows off his vocals better than any of his songs, to get a better feel for the music Sebastian actually preferred check out their song "Slave to the Grind." I don't remember what show it was on but about 15 years or so ago, it was voted the third best heavy metal song of all time.

I was around to see Skidrow perform live a few times during their peak in the late 80’s early 90’s.
I then saw them years later with different singers, and it was so glaring how incredible Bach’s voice was compared to the others.
A supreme metal voice, a great stage presence, and yes incredible hair!
I really wish he could have worked it out with the other guys in the band, as none of the parties were as good or successful without each other.

Babe's, HIS HAIR HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE MUSIC! Sebastian Bach is one of the archetypes of HAIR METAL lead singers. Not only one of the most beatiful men ever, but an amazingly talented and gifted sungers. Im so glad to see hes being recognized by young people now. His voice us stil my fav, 30+ years later. ❤

“Make amends” I believe is what you were searching for. This album came out right after I finished High School. Their self titled debut was part of my High School soundtrack. Agree with others saying check out “In a darkened room” and, “Quicksand Jesus”. Always dug the heaviness of this record. I have a very wide spectrum of musical tastes. Have a special place in my heart for 80’s hair metal so, I just subscribed.

Sebastian Bach had a hell of a set of pipes, as well as some of the best hair in 80's hair metal lol. Skid Row has some real bangers in their catalogue "18 and life", "I Remember You", "Youth Gone Wild" and "Quicksand Jesus" are some of their best known songs. If you haven't yet you need to check out Warrant, "Uncle Tom's Cabin" would be a good starter.

Thank You for reacting to this song it's one of my favorite Skid Row songs I loved them growing up I read Steven Adlers book and it's amazing that he's not dead after all his drug use Sebastian's vocals were insane in his younger years I don't think he can reach this kind of level today there were only a handful of singers that could reach this range Rob Halford from Judas Priest and Geoff Tate from Queensryche and the singer from Steelheart you have to listen to there song She's Gone it's one of the greatest ballads that was ever put out and he has amazing range in the song

I grew up on 80's hair metal. That's all there was for me for the longest time. Sebastian Bach WAS the voice of the 80's. Sure, there were a few bands that were bigger than Skid Row, but none had a bigger voice. You picked a great song as an intro to their music. Next, I suggest something more of a banger. Maybe try either Youth Gone Wild or Makin a Mess from their debut album or Slave to the Grind and Monkey Business from their second album.

I watched a young Bach live no auto tune of course. Insane range. Great power. Those notes and strains…when in early thirties I watched again and his vocals had deteriorated. Keep in mind I saw him ten years apart and I loved his vocals. Great guy too. I hated seeing what happened to the vocals.

Every Skid Row reaction video I watch I always have to throw props to my man Scotti Hill on lead guitar.
His solos can tear your face off and your heart out at the same time. He's such a massively underrated guitarist and these Skid Row mega-ballads wouldn't be as good without his contributions.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this or not, but "The Horse" (that stampedes and rages) is a reference to the slang term for heroin. As many people have found out, you start riding the horse, it soon takes over and leads you down a dark path.
My father died from a heroin overdose at the age of 28. I was barely a year old at the time. My mother (also an addict) gave up custody of me to his mother. I didn't learn of all this until my early 20s, as she kept that hidden. Maybe she figured I'd endured enough childhood trauma, and didn't need to learn that. I've sworn to never take heroin, and here I am.... I'm 57 years old, and have lived more than twice the time my father did. Hell, I'm older now than my mother was when she died. I don't think she even made it to 50, and if she did, it was just barely.
I will also add that I am physically disabled at this point, and I take opioids for pain. My spine is completely shot, my joints are messed up, and I have nerve problems. But my doctor keeps me on lower dosages, and my wife is there to make sure I don't do anything stupid. I have a good support system in place. But it could have gone very different in my younger years, if anything had happened differently.

Hes got a place on the podium next to Freddy Mercury. This song is so moving. This is why auto-tune just doesnt cut it for us GenX.

My opinion is that Sebastian was the best power vocalist/singer of the late 80s and early 90s. Nobody else was doing what he was at the level he was doing it at that time. There were some great vocalist of the era such as George Tate and David Coverdale just to name a couple. Great in their own right, but Sebastian's vocal range low to high, clean to scream, on key, and always controlled was unbelievably fantastic. #1 on my list.

No one and i mean no one in this generation can even come close to Sebastians voice like no one in this world hes just fantabulous omg and there were alot of other ones in that era whose voices are still and will always be unmatched. In those days, if you wanted to make it, you had to know how to play really well or sing whereas now, you can be famous with no talent at all. No wonder she is blown away. Head bangers had the best lyrics best music, hot guys and they just had everything. This song is still relevant today cuz addiction is way worse now.
