Mr. Awesome that's why a debate should always have a moderate. I guess its meant to be happy, but he should make more of an effort to make sure every voice is heard and that there isn't to much overlap. Cause that's when it devolves into arguing and not debating.

Personally nappy makes good points about gen 4. It’s a great gen but not too 3 it’s number 4. It’s Pokédex Is a issue. Because minus the starters legends and evolutions you don’t have many great mons( besides a few) gen five is the best because of how many mons are so good in competitive.
I didn't get to get a chance to elaborate on Cyrus for some reason I couldn't get the words out but he's such a complex character, he carries 4th gen along with Giratina.
Nah bro if you guys are including Delta with gen 6, you have to include the time travel stuff from heart gold and soul silver with gen 4. Imo that background with Giovanni and Rocket puts it in my top 3
I thought Oak: - Invented the Pokedex which all other professors use as a model which is the real reason why every other professor respect him - Is an ex-champion since only champions are allowed in the Hall of Fame and he escorts you to it in gen 1 (notice how Steven doesn't let May or Birch enter in general 3 for this reason)
Everyone forgets that Rowan was champion before Cynthia beat him which is when he finally had time to leave sinnoh and do his research before he comes back to sinnoh which is where diamond and pearl start.
Cyrus in platinum was the best character because he’s the only villain leader who wasn’t technically defeated by the player. What people don’t realize is that Cyrus certainly would have WON if giratina hadn’t showed up. That was completely out of his control. Every other villain leader was defeated by the player except for Cyrus.
Gen 5 was basically an RPG, like a legit RPG in terms of story. There were stakes going on and things were darker going on. Other games we had teams talking about global domination (or region) but in Gen 5 we see the team take over the Pokémon League, gain trust, not capture, trust of the Legendary Pokémon, *THEY FROZE A CITY* , and threatened to kill the player character. There were also character arcs going on. Bianca gains confidence and gains independence from her father, Cheren learns what it means to be a trainer, and N learns that the world isn't how he thought it was and that his way of how the world is supposes to be is flawed. And then there is Ghetsis, the best villain team leader. We have a man who manipulated a child to be a puppet in his plan to release people's Pokémon and when that fails he snaps and flips Team Plasma from PETA to ISIS. He goes to such lengths to freeze a city and tries to kill the one person getting in his way. This man doesn't f*ck around. Gen 5 is insane in terms of story and is always number 1.
Dont forget, GEN 5 is the perfect lesson for the USA right now. How to appreciate and understand someone elses values and opinions even if they differ from your own. That just because they see and value things differently, doesnt mean they are wrong. Great writing there!
Nintendoman1998 Don't forget the legendary battle at Team Plazma Castle which decided the fate of the entire region. The battle with N, (the only cannon trainer in our universe [RR not included] aside from the main character to use a legendary) at Team Plazma Castle is the best battle I've ever seen in Pokemon. And the cutscenes of the dragons awakening borderline made me cry as a kid (THE MUSIC!!!)
Cyrus created the red chain and used the power of the original one to summon the creators of the universe and put them on a leash until Giratina showed up. Just because there weren’t as many flashy cutscenes doesn’t mean that his achievement wasn’t as impressive as a castle coming out of the ground. Cyrus was able to touch the power of god for a moment in time.
C ᴜ ᴛ ᴛ ɪ ɴ ɢ E ᴅ ɢ ᴇ s 100% agree man. Think about it, every other evil boss fell to some 10 year old kid. Cyrus would've flat out won if it weren't for Giratina. As soon as he opened up the Distortion World, it was over. There was nothing that anyone could do about it. Cyrus was thwarted by being blindsided by Giratina, a Pokemon he didn't even know existed. He planned for everything except the unknown. Easily the best boss.
Still, gen 4 is grossly flamboyant and indulgent with its concepts that it kind dulls the generation and the game experience a bit in my opinion. Bigger grander threats with crazy high stakes don't necessarily make a better game, hence why I'm not a huge fan of the Delta episode (although I do appreciate split timeline/mega concept). Cyrus' motives are never really explained and the overall plan and direction of Team Galactic doesn't really add up to how Cyrus got to the position of power that he did. The whole experience seems somewhat formulaic too, especially when it came to the Lake Spirits.
Jordnotbored No. Cyrus was effectively a cult leader. He manipulated people's spirit and emotions to make them follow him - the exact things he wanted to destroy. Go and replay Platinum and pay attention.
There's no need to be condescending. I have played Platinum, three times to be exact, and and it is not explicitly explained why his followers are so devoted to him. His sole aim to recreate the entire world by destroying it, not once is their mention of a good reason of doing so apart from Cyrus finding the human spirit to be 'weak and worrisome'. This actually contradicts his own philosophy and what your first comment was arguing considering that Cyrus, a mear human, managed to almost rise to god status. I would say that Team Plasma are a better example of a cult as they manipulate the population, as well as you as a player, by making you question the raw fundamentals of the entire concept of the relationship between trainer and Pokemon, thus giving them more influence and incentive to gain more followers. I just don't see how anyone would want to follow Cyrus when his cultist ideals seem very unconvincing is all. It just seems hollow to me and is used just as an excuse for a group of antagonists and an over the top story imo
Oak created the Pokedex! He centralized a database for all Pokemon information. He essentially created the first laptop and the internet for Pokemon. Juniper and every other trainer would be fumbling in the dark without Oak. Oak should be the number one professor.

Hey guys, I love this mini series about which Gen is the best. I would like to make some suggestion for the following episodes so the debate is a bit more centered and hopefully better. 1) Share the topics to discuss with all the members so they can be prepare before the recording. 2) Create parameters for each topic to so the discussion doesn't get lost and the quality of the debate is richer. Let's take the Elite 4 as a topic. Elite 4 Parameters: a) Champion b) Other league members Tangent Parameters (this apply to each of the main parameters above) a) Coolness b) competitiveness of the teams c) Dificulty The parameters and the tanget parameters could be defined thru a previous brainstorm from each of the memebers that are going to be discussing in the recording. So like everyone comes up with like 3-5 parameters and one of you (probably Nappy as he apperas to be the moderator) puts them together and shares the final topic with its parameters. This would have specially helped with the Professors and NPC topics in this video. Personally i dont think the idea of the professor getting points for been there with you is important. Who cares if it's there? It's your adventure, all you need its your rival and the bad guys, if you need explanation of the lore or what to do, you have the NPCs. With the NPCs you should have mention you mother and your beatdown dads (or maybee this will go in the next video?). If anyone should help you with your adventure, it should be them (YOU ARE FUCKING 10!). Lastly, I have a few topics i would really like to see for the third video: 1) Rival (Blue/Gary better fucking win this) 2) You as a character 3) Story progresison. How does the game take you thru your adventure with level dificulty, quests and how intuitive it is. 4) The antagonist (Team rocket, plasma, etc.). Nappy just said at 30 mins in or so, "for everything gen 3 has going against it..." And this kind of triggered me because gen 3 has been near the top 3 or at the very least given everything else a run for it's money in conversation during the entire debate thus far. I am a bit biased for gen 3 because it is my favorite but I gotta stand up for it none the less
I think they completely overlooked gen 3’s story in the first one. It’s the ONLY generation with different evil teams for different games, and depending on which game you pick, you are technically teaming up with one of them. The after story with rayquaza at the tower and the DELTA EPISODE are gen 3. They should’ve tied 3 with 6 for second or they should’ve put gen 3 higher.
I love this series but Nexus has gotta work on debate skills and his bias. Nappy and Nick are doing great, and they are unbiased and have been only putting out straight facts. And Mo just needs to voice his opinion more.

How were they unbias when they elevated gen 6 for lore, yet tried to put gen 7 that has no explained lore above gen 4? Their argument was inconsistent and Nexus even pointed it out, only to be yelled over by the two of them.
Nate Phan Gen 4 didn't add a single thing to the lore of Pokemon as an ENTIRETY, gen 7 introduce the Ultra Beast which are an entire new species seperate to Pokemon, Z-moves, and inter-dimensional traveling. Something that opens doors to so many new possibilities, and even managed to explained a plot twist of gen 6 of which was the alternate timelines. Gen 4 added NOTHING to Pokemons lore.

Also there is no lore to z moves and in their debate they already gave that multiverse lore to gen 6. Did you watch the same video? Gen 4 introduces the creation trio along with the the literal god of the verse and how it shaped the Pokemon world as we know it. Even IF you were arguing from the point of gen 7 having more lore then gen 4, which I don't fucking care. THEIR point, Nappy and Nick was that gen 7 had a better playthrough story then gen 4 not including the lore, yet had elevated gen 6 BECAUSE of the lore. MY point was that their argument was inconsistent and pointed out that Nexus himself pointed it out only to be yelled over. Aye bro you might have looked at the Rematch levels of Gen 2. We both know the only reason the Elite Four is so low lvl in that game is because you got to Kanto and fight the other gyms. You guys should have talked about how they don't have 6 Pokemon anymore in the Elite Four 😂

They should do this debate again when Gen 8 comes around. But when they do. They need to actually research this shit. Because they generalize too much. The only times they went into true specifics was during Gen 5. I mean go into depth and discuss every Gym Leader, E4, important characters, champions individually.

I would have been fun, if it let go of your hand for more then 5 minutes, Lily didn't exist and the story was in a concentrated pocket of the game play as opposed to spread throughout it and constantly interrupting the player's exploration of the islands and their pokemon. Yeah the "attempt" at a story was nice, but the execution was terrible and made for a bad gameplay experience. Gen 7 Dex and the culture of the region is awesome though. Trial, Alolan forms, cool pokemon designs, the creation of a pokemon league, etc. All good points. But i almost want to rush through the story to clear it out of the way, then go back through the region from the start with a fresh team, just so i can experience adventuring and level up my team at a more comfortable pace, not having Lily stopping you to talk constantly about her meaningless, untangible, hollow and drawn out explanation of her current feelings. Fuck me she dragged gen 7 down.

Glad to see gen 5 getting love. Almost everything about this gen was transformative to the series from the storyline to the competitive scene, gen 5 elevated the game to another level entirely. Sure it did have it's cons (namely the vanillite and trubbish lines and the monkeys) but they were outweighed so heavily by positives that they became irrelevant to a point. Overall, loving the series and Nick, keep spitting those cold hard facts.

My list of professors: 1. Oak for inventing the Pokédex which is like the staple of pokemon 2. Kukui for studying moves which imo are easily the most confusing thing about pokemon period and for creating the Alolan pokemon league 3. I am open to suggestions for this spot I was thinking sycamore....
Nappy was right when he said that we wouldn’t allow Juniper to be first place. The origin of Pokémon? WHEN DID SHE EVEEEER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT?! Oak literally began EVERYYYTHING!!! I’m sorry but you cannot put a professor that has a shady ass specialty above a professor that shows up in almost every region and is spoken of in the highest regard. Now, I’m not gonna say that Oak is an absolute first BUT Juniper isn’t above him. Kukui (not sure if I spelled it right) is a great professor but he is a better trainer than he is a professor. Sycamore is the only professor who is TRULY involved in your story AND he is an efficient researcher. Sycamore is first place, Oak is second, Kukui is third, Rowan is fourth, Juniper fifth, Elm is sixth, Birch is seventh.
@Danielle True, heck.. since Sycamore studied under Rowan, he benefited from Rowans information as well, meaning you can arguably put Rowan in top 3 behind Oak and Sycamore and place Elm above Juniper.

What's wrong with bias? Of course you want to try be as objective as possible, but this is still at the end of the day a debate of opinions, hoping to sway the other side. Nexus does seem slightly biased with gen 4 bc I know he loves it, but so is Nappy with 5th gen and against 4th gen, and so is Mo against 6th gen. I think it's okay, so long as you back it up.

I agree, that point wasn't really valid and was based off bias. But what i'm saying is realistically they all show bias dependent on their experiences. You can also see Nappy's bias towards gen 5 and his bias against gen 4 due to it being popular, as well as Mo's bias against gen 6, etc etc. What i'm saying is Nexus can't just be accused of being biased, they all are in some way because this is about opinions.
It was really just Nexus being straight up biased and barely giving reasons for it. Yes, EVERY ONE of them have been biased, but Nexus was just being straight up biased without arguing why this should there etc. Nappy and Nick were at least giving valid reasons to there arguments, and when he spoke up, Mo did as well.
Nickichu Nah, not really. I think Nick is by far the most level and my favourite and this series. I love nexus but his bias for gen 4 is undeniable at this point. But so is Nappy for gen 5, and often he hasn't given reasons beyond just stating it has to be in top 3 and that's all. Nappy downplays everything about gen 4; as soon as Nexus mentions something Nappy just claims its not cool, due to him not liking the generation because of it's popularity. As I said, all of them are biased. There is not one objectively best region, it's all subjective what you think is cool or not. So there will be bias. But I think Nick is best in this. He doesn't seem to show massive bias to a particular generation at all and most of his points are fair.
John Kramer Alright, but he is in this. He may have stated that in that video, but looking at him in these videos it's undeniable that he has that bias there. *Which is okay* . What im saying isn't okay is everyone in the video and comments getting mad at nexus for the bias which the others have too.
I love you nexus, but you don't know how arguments work bro. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore 4th Gen, it's probably my favourite gen, but you can't ignore everything that is wrong and just focus on some positives that you think are more relevant, without listening to the pros and cons that the others give.
You guys were talking a lot about the concept of professors in the game but you gotta remember that a "professor", its "job", is to actually help its apprentices/new trainers and teach them and follow their progress. So, Kukui and Juniper were really the best cause Juniper helped you throughout the region (and she even took you on a plane to find more origins, she called you and all on the desert place which was one of the most "unknown" origin place to discover) and Kukui even fought you at the League (enhance the fact he studies attacks and shit). Dunno if this should apply but in the anime, Kukui has a school with Ash and friends. I'm not saying you guys didn't mention all of this but I'm just mentioning how important "the job of a professor" is and that it is what defines them the most. In the end, Oak was more a trainer/expert/researcher than a professor himself because he gathered all his experience and studies but he didn't really "published" them that much. Btw don't get me wrong but the delta episode (and any other "extra" story in the remakes) should be considered Gen 3 because you need to consider the Generation itself as the region, so if the Delta episode happened at Hoenn then it is Gen 3 (even the main character we played through the story remained as the Gen 3 one). It is basically "the future of the generation itself", not a new one. It's just like the professors themselves, their studies bring more answers to the previous studies.

Hey Nappy, just wanna mention this cause you guys equaled Elm and Oak, Elm gave you a mball (irrelevant) but he has gave you one of the wings or the bell, he connects you to the kimono girls in order for you to meet the legendary, he not only studies whatever but he introduces that Pokémon don't always have to be inside a ball, the real bond is built by walking with them, he gives you Togepi and asks you to constantly monitor it
I'll bite. Gen 5 has convincing and wholesome character arcs for the rivals and Gym leaders that act outside the actual building which is nice. Ghetsis and N are great, but the whole idea of an evil team who fights to liberate pokemon, is completely undermined by the fact they use and steal them. "tHeY seT tHeM fReE thO" no. They don't. The whole haha bait and switch of Ghetsis was nice, but honestly, an evil team like that would work far better in a Ranger game. Honestly its a hamfisted attempt at a pokemon world PETA.
Kirby Kirboo but to be fair think about it. It was already rumored that they're full of shit through the sages and the bridge. Another thing team plasma actually splits. To be normal white knights who take care and nurse pokemon while the pirate side emphasizes ghetsis's true ideals. So it makes you think. Maybe there were some who were there for the well being of pokemon and some for world domination
I'm @ 1:28:33 and at this point the only thing I wanna point out is this fact that personally gives sycamore more brownie points for this 3rd spot. keeping sycamore at 3 is because not only did he study mega evolution I like the idea of how he became the professor of megas. This man was a student to Rowan the professor who studied evolution . He even when to the tower of mastery to try and wield mega evolution and when he realized he was not strong enough to do so. Studied even more to become the professor of mega evolution. I as a hobbyist writer am a sucker for lore small details and backstory.
Here is what I'm going to say about nastolgia, for me, as a 16 year old, Gen 5 is nastalgic. And the champion you fight at the end of Gen 5 is N. If blue is the champion of Gen 1, N is the champion of Gen 5
Titus Powers I feel like Ghetsis is real kind of champion of black/white since you fight him after N (even though Alder is technically champion but you have to go through the elite 4 again to battle him)
N never was a Champion, since you didn't fight him at the E4, unlike with Blue. That is a difference there, because if N is the Champion of gen 5, then Red is the gen 2 champion, while we all know he wasn't, meaning your reasoning doesn't make sense.
That doesn't matter. We don't fight N as a Champion during the Pokemon League, meaning he is not a Champion. We fight Red during the Pokemon World Tournament, does that mean he is a Champion. No he isn't, since its confirmed he isn't a Champion anymore (Same as its confirmed N isn't a Champion, or never was Champion to begin with). Same in gen 2. We fight Red in Cinnabar Island, but despite that and despite him being a former Champion, he is just that, a former. Not the current. Same goes for N. He isn't a Champion, nor will he ever be Champion if Gen 5 remakes don't make him. Same can be said about AZ in this argument. You fight AZ after the E4. Does that means he is a Champion. No, he isn't. The only confirmed Champions are those who are current or who have defeated the E4 + Champion but lost their title. They are Former Champions (Like Blue, Red and Professor Oak), because they are in the Hall of Fame.
I think 6th story is trash, the lore carries, whereas Gen 4 lore AND story are great while Gen 7 is carried by story while having practically no lore so Gen 7 being higher than Gen 4 makes no sense

I just want to say, every Gym leader, elite 4 member, champion and iconic character jumped at the chance to stroll up into the battle tournament in Gen 5. As of typing this I'm at 43:53 and I haven't heard mention of the PWT and how everyone went there
gen 5 getting the recognition it deserves its a great generation. Nexus dude give a better agreements to back up your love for gen 4, every one else (beside Mo since he was so quiet and was listening to everyone lol) gave good examples and explanations better than what nexus gave us.
I think people downplay the twist that was having Blue as the Champion. If you played Red and Blue without knowing it beforehand, you DID NOT see that shit coming. Granted, that does play into his quality as a rival, but it's still pretty relevant to the Pokemon League argument. Plus, his team is super balanced as well.

Also it's very easy to look back and just assume that "yeah of course Blue was the Champion", when at the time it wasn't obvious at all. I thought Oak:
- Invented the Pokedex which all other professors use as a model which is the real reason why every other professor respect him
- Is an ex-champion since only champions are allowed in the Hall of Fame and he escorts you to it in gen 1 (notice how Steven doesn't let May or Birch enter in general 3 for this reason)
Everyone forgets that Rowan was champion before Cynthia beat him which is when he finally had time to leave sinnoh and do his research before he comes back to sinnoh which is where diamond and pearl start.
Cyrus in platinum was the best character because he’s the only villain leader who wasn’t technically defeated by the player.
What people don’t realize is that Cyrus certainly would have WON if giratina hadn’t showed up. That was completely out of his control. Every other villain leader was defeated by the player except for Cyrus.
Gen 5 was basically an RPG, like a legit RPG in terms of story. There were stakes going on and things were darker going on. Other games we had teams talking about global domination (or region) but in Gen 5 we see the team take over the Pokémon League, gain trust, not capture, trust of the Legendary Pokémon, *THEY FROZE A CITY* , and threatened to kill the player character. There were also character arcs going on. Bianca gains confidence and gains independence from her father, Cheren learns what it means to be a trainer, and N learns that the world isn't how he thought it was and that his way of how the world is supposes to be is flawed. And then there is Ghetsis, the best villain team leader. We have a man who manipulated a child to be a puppet in his plan to release people's Pokémon and when that fails he snaps and flips Team Plasma from PETA to ISIS. He goes to such lengths to freeze a city and tries to kill the one person getting in his way. This man doesn't f*ck around. Gen 5 is insane in terms of story and is always number 1.
Dont forget, GEN 5 is the perfect lesson for the USA right now. How to appreciate and understand someone elses values and opinions even if they differ from your own. That just because they see and value things differently, doesnt mean they are wrong. Great writing there!

The battle with N, (the only cannon trainer in our universe [RR not included] aside from the main character to use a legendary) at Team Plazma Castle is the best battle I've ever seen in Pokemon. And the cutscenes of the dragons awakening borderline made me cry as a kid (THE MUSIC!!!)

Cyrus created the red chain and used the power of the original one to summon the creators of the universe and put them on a leash until Giratina showed up. Just because there weren’t as many flashy cutscenes doesn’t mean that his achievement wasn’t as impressive as a castle coming out of the ground. Cyrus was able to touch the power of god for a moment in time.
C ᴜ ᴛ ᴛ ɪ ɴ ɢ E ᴅ ɢ ᴇ s 100% agree man. Think about it, every other evil boss fell to some 10 year old kid. Cyrus would've flat out won if it weren't for Giratina. As soon as he opened up the Distortion World, it was over. There was nothing that anyone could do about it. Cyrus was thwarted by being blindsided by Giratina, a Pokemon he didn't even know existed. He planned for everything except the unknown. Easily the best boss.
Still, gen 4 is grossly flamboyant and indulgent with its concepts that it kind dulls the generation and the game experience a bit in my opinion. Bigger grander threats with crazy high stakes don't necessarily make a better game, hence why I'm not a huge fan of the Delta episode (although I do appreciate split timeline/mega concept). Cyrus' motives are never really explained and the overall plan and direction of Team Galactic doesn't really add up to how Cyrus got to the position of power that he did. The whole experience seems somewhat formulaic too, especially when it came to the Lake Spirits.

I have played Platinum, three times to be exact, and and it is not explicitly explained why his followers are so devoted to him. His sole aim to recreate the entire world by destroying it, not once is their mention of a good reason of doing so apart from Cyrus finding the human spirit to be 'weak and worrisome'. This actually contradicts his own philosophy and what your first comment was arguing considering that Cyrus, a mear human, managed to almost rise to god status. I would say that Team Plasma are a better example of a cult as they manipulate the population, as well as you as a player, by making you question the raw fundamentals of the entire concept of the relationship between trainer and Pokemon, thus giving them more influence and incentive to gain more followers. I just don't see how anyone would want to follow Cyrus when his cultist ideals seem very unconvincing is all. It just seems hollow to me and is used just as an excuse for a group of antagonists and an over the top story imo

Hey guys, I love this mini series about which Gen is the best. I would like to make some suggestion for the following episodes so the debate is a bit more centered and hopefully better.
1) Share the topics to discuss with all the members so they can be prepare before the recording.
2) Create parameters for each topic to so the discussion doesn't get lost and the quality of the debate is richer. Let's take the Elite 4 as a topic.

The parameters and the tanget parameters could be defined thru a previous brainstorm from each of the memebers that are going to be discussing in the recording. So like everyone comes up with like 3-5 parameters and one of you (probably Nappy as he apperas to be the moderator) puts them together and shares the final topic with its parameters.
This would have specially helped with the Professors and NPC topics in this video. Personally i dont think the idea of the professor getting points for been there with you is important. Who cares if it's there? It's your adventure, all you need its your rival and the bad guys, if you need explanation of the lore or what to do, you have the NPCs.
With the NPCs you should have mention you mother and your beatdown dads (or maybee this will go in the next video?). If anyone should help you with your adventure, it should be them (YOU ARE FUCKING 10!).
Lastly, I have a few topics i would really like to see for the third video:
1) Rival (Blue/Gary better fucking win this)
2) You as a character
3) Story progresison. How does the game take you thru your adventure with level dificulty, quests and how intuitive it is.

And this kind of triggered me because gen 3 has been near the top 3 or at the very least given everything else a run for it's money in conversation during the entire debate thus far. I think they completely overlooked gen 3’s story in the first one. It’s the ONLY generation with different evil teams for different games, and depending on which game you pick, you are technically teaming up with one of them. The after story with rayquaza at the tower and the DELTA EPISODE are gen 3. They should’ve tied 3 with 6 for second or they should’ve put gen 3 higher.

Nate Phan Gen 4 didn't add a single thing to the lore of Pokemon as an ENTIRETY, gen 7 introduce the Ultra Beast which are an entire new species seperate to Pokemon, Z-moves, and inter-dimensional traveling. Something that opens doors to so many new possibilities, and even managed to explained a plot twist of gen 6 of which was the alternate timelines. Gen 4 added NOTHING to Pokemons lore.

I would have been fun, if it let go of your hand for more then 5 minutes, Lily didn't exist and the story was in a concentrated pocket of the game play as opposed to spread throughout it and constantly interrupting the player's exploration of the islands and their pokemon. Yeah the "attempt" at a story was nice, but the execution was terrible and made for a bad gameplay experience. Gen 7 Dex and the culture of the region is awesome though. Trial, Alolan forms, cool pokemon designs, the creation of a pokemon league, etc. All good points. But i almost want to rush through the story to clear it out of the way, then go back through the region from the start with a fresh team, just so i can experience adventuring and level up my team at a more comfortable pace, not having Lily stopping you to talk constantly about her meaningless, untangible, hollow and drawn out explanation of her current feelings. Fuck me she dragged gen 7 down.

Glad to see gen 5 getting love. Almost everything about this gen was transformative to the series from the storyline to the competitive scene, gen 5 elevated the game to another level entirely. Sure it did have it's cons (namely the vanillite and trubbish lines and the monkeys) but they were outweighed so heavily by positives that they became irrelevant to a point. Overall, loving the series and Nick, keep spitting those cold hard facts.

Nappy was right when he said that we wouldn’t allow Juniper to be first place. The origin of Pokémon? WHEN DID SHE EVEEEER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT?! Oak literally began EVERYYYTHING!!! I’m sorry but you cannot put a professor that has a shady ass specialty above a professor that shows up in almost every region and is spoken of in the highest regard. Now, I’m not gonna say that Oak is an absolute first BUT Juniper isn’t above him. Kukui (not sure if I spelled it right) is a great professor but he is a better trainer than he is a professor. Sycamore is the only professor who is TRULY involved in your story AND he is an efficient researcher. Sycamore is first place, Oak is second, Kukui is third, Rowan is fourth, Juniper fifth, Elm is sixth, Birch is seventh.
Using your reasoning, Oak is first, since without him, Sycamore couldn't have done his research, so i would swap them.
And to add on to that, professor rowan and elm also discovered their field of research based off of Oak’s research

True, heck.. since Sycamore studied under Rowan, he benefited from Rowans information as well, meaning you can arguably put Rowan in top 3 behind Oak and Sycamore and place Elm above Juniper.

What's wrong with bias? Of course you want to try be as objective as possible, but this is still at the end of the day a debate of opinions, hoping to sway the other side. Nexus does seem slightly biased with gen 4 bc I know he loves it, but so is Nappy with 5th gen and against 4th gen, and so is Mo against 6th gen. I think it's okay, so long as you back it up.

I agree, that point wasn't really valid and was based off bias. But what i'm saying is realistically they all show bias dependent on their experiences. You can also see Nappy's bias towards gen 5 and his bias against gen 4 due to it being popular, as well as Mo's bias against gen 6, etc etc. What i'm saying is Nexus can't just be accused of being biased, they all are in some way because this is about opinions.
It was really just Nexus being straight up biased and barely giving reasons for it. Yes, EVERY ONE of them have been biased, but Nexus was just being straight up biased without arguing why this should there etc. Nappy and Nick were at least giving valid reasons to there arguments, and when he spoke up, Mo did as well.
Nickichu Nah, not really. I think Nick is by far the most level and my favourite and this series. I love nexus but his bias for gen 4 is undeniable at this point. But so is Nappy for gen 5, and often he hasn't given reasons beyond just stating it has to be in top 3 and that's all. Nappy downplays everything about gen 4; as soon as Nexus mentions something Nappy just claims its not cool, due to him not liking the generation because of it's popularity. As I said, all of them are biased. There is not one objectively best region, it's all subjective what you think is cool or not. So there will be bias. But I think Nick is best in this. He doesn't seem to show massive bias to a particular generation at all and most of his points are fair.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore 4th Gen, it's probably my favourite gen, but you can't ignore everything that is wrong and just focus on some positives that you think are more relevant, without listening to the pros and cons that the others give.

You guys were talking a lot about the concept of professors in the game but you gotta remember that a "professor", its "job", is to actually help its apprentices/new trainers and teach them and follow their progress. So, Kukui and Juniper were really the best cause Juniper helped you throughout the region (and she even took you on a plane to find more origins, she called you and all on the desert place which was one of the most "unknown" origin place to discover) and Kukui even fought you at the League (enhance the fact he studies attacks and shit). Dunno if this should apply but in the anime, Kukui has a school with Ash and friends. I'm not saying you guys didn't mention all of this but I'm just mentioning how important "the job of a professor" is and that it is what defines them the most. In the end, Oak was more a trainer/expert/researcher than a professor himself because he gathered all his experience and studies but he didn't really "published" them that much.
Btw don't get me wrong but the delta episode (and any other "extra" story in the remakes) should be considered Gen 3 because you need to consider the Generation itself as the region, so if the Delta episode happened at Hoenn then it is Gen 3 (even the main character we played through the story remained as the Gen 3 one). It is basically "the future of the generation itself", not a new one. It's just like the professors themselves, their studies bring more answers to the previous studies.

Hey Nappy, just wanna mention this cause you guys equaled Elm and Oak, Elm gave you a mball (irrelevant) but he has gave you one of the wings or the bell, he connects you to the kimono girls in order for you to meet the legendary, he not only studies whatever but he introduces that Pokémon don't always have to be inside a ball, the real bond is built by walking with them, he gives you Togepi and asks you to constantly monitor it

I'll bite. Gen 5 has convincing and wholesome character arcs for the rivals and Gym leaders that act outside the actual building which is nice. Ghetsis and N are great, but the whole idea of an evil team who fights to liberate pokemon, is completely undermined by the fact they use and steal them. "tHeY seT tHeM fReE thO" no. They don't. The whole haha bait and switch of Ghetsis was nice, but honestly, an evil team like that would work far better in a Ranger game. Honestly its a hamfisted attempt at a pokemon world PETA.
Gen 5 deserves the win ngl. I love the story, the characters that interact with each other throughout the game, and the music, MMMM.

To be normal white knights who take care and nurse pokemon while the pirate side emphasizes ghetsis's true ideals. So it makes you think. keeping sycamore at 3 is because not only did he study mega evolution I like the idea of how he became the professor of megas. This man was a student to Rowan the professor who studied evolution . He even when to the tower of mastery to try and wield mega evolution and when he realized he was not strong enough to do so. Studied even more to become the professor of mega evolution.

Here is what I'm going to say about nastolgia, for me, as a 16 year old, Gen 5 is nastalgic. And the champion you fight at the end of Gen 5 is N. If blue is the champion of Gen 1, N is the champion of Gen 5
Titus Powers I feel like Ghetsis is real kind of champion of black/white since you fight him after N (even though Alder is technically champion but you have to go through the elite 4 again to battle him)
Access Denied still leagues above Alder, and if you look at it with N or Ghetsis, then that bumbs up 5 to 2 or maybe even 1.
N never was a Champion, since you didn't fight him at the E4, unlike with Blue. That is a difference there, because if N is the Champion of gen 5, then Red is the gen 2 champion, while we all know he wasn't, meaning your reasoning doesn't make sense.
Nick den Toom he brings his freaking castle at Victory Hall, almost destroying the whole thing.

That doesn't matter. We don't fight N as a Champion during the Pokemon League, meaning he is not a Champion. We fight Red during the Pokemon World Tournament, does that mean he is a Champion. No he isn't, since its confirmed he isn't a Champion anymore (Same as its confirmed N isn't a Champion, or never was Champion to begin with). Same in gen 2. We fight Red in Cinnabar Island, but despite that and despite him being a former Champion, he is just that, a former. Not the current. Same goes for N. He isn't a Champion, nor will he ever be Champion if Gen 5 remakes don't make him.
Same can be said about AZ in this argument. You fight AZ after the E4. Does that means he is a Champion. No, he isn't.
The only confirmed Champions are those who are current or who have defeated the E4 + Champion but lost their title. They are Former Champions (Like Blue, Red and Professor Oak), because they are in the Hall of Fame.
I think 6th story is trash, the lore carries, whereas Gen 4 lore AND story are great while Gen 7 is carried by story while having practically no lore so Gen 7 being higher than Gen 4 makes no sense

I think people downplay the twist that was having Blue as the Champion. If you played Red and Blue without knowing it beforehand, you DID NOT see that shit coming. Granted, that does play into his quality as a rival, but it's still pretty relevant to the Pokemon League argument. Plus, his team is super balanced as well.
