Condolences on your mother's passing. ❤ I have only been to Harper's Ferry but I lived in Virginia and this reminds me of there. I like to take roadtrips, but when I can't do that I love to be an armchair traveler and watch videos of different areas of the country. As far as recommendations of where to move, I highly recommend Mississippi, specifically Natchez. I just visited there in December. If you have never been, I encourage you to check it out. You can fly into Baton Rouge or New Orleans and drive there in 2 hours. The homes there are inexpensive, which is hard to believe because it's a hidden gem on the Mississippi River. The people in Mississippi were the most polite I have ever encountered anywhere! I recommend Monmouth Historic Inn. I almost didn't go to Mississippi, (I was driving from New Orleans to San Antonio) but it turns out Natchez has a lot to offer (if you're retired or can work remotely.) I want to go back and it's on my list of places to retire.

The New River Gorge Bridge is on Highway 19 between Fayetteville and Summerville. I've been across it several times. Maybe one day I'll actually stop at the observation area and look at it. I hope you can find a nice place to live. Preferably here in North Carolina, the best state.

A beautiful park! There are some pretty talented artisans there. I am not sure where in NC you lived but my wife and I moved from WV to Durham when she went to Duke for her PhD. Then in 1989 we got moved to Atlanta by Hampton Inn to open a new hotel. We thought we would move back some day but never did. After she died 6 years ago I thought about moving back or maybe moving back to Morgantown. Morgantown has become a pretty expensive place to live. I considered Western NC as well but here I am still in Atlanta.
A colleague of mine has been offered a GM’s job in Charleston and one in Savannah. I recommended Charleston. Though, I like the Savannah area because it is close to St Simons Island where Cindy and I used to vacation a lot. I finally went back last year for the first time and it felt weird without her.
Amy, take your time deciding where to live SC has some nice areas. With your personality you will not have a problem finding and making friends. Good luck!

@@amyxplores810 Amy, I decided to stay in the Atlanta area. We bought our house (our second in Atlanta) 25 years ago and it is in what now has become a growing area. It is close to a lot of stores and has easy access to the North Georgia Mountains. It is close to my church. I retired in November and then took a job with Hilton Hotels Technology where I can work from home. I also play trumpet in a local jazz band. So, there is a lot to offer. As long as I don't have to go to downtown Atlanta I am fine. BTW, before you leave WVa for anywhere try and go see the New River Gorge Bridge. I know it is on the other side of the state from you. I used to travel back to see my Mom from Beckley to Morgantown on Rte 19. When I was in college (before the bridge opened) we were on the way to the beach with our campus Minister and he decided to take us through the gorge and cross on this old rickety bridge. - at night. Certainly, a fun and interesting trip. Good luck on whatever you do and go. Please keep your channel going because you travel to some interesting places.
