    Been using "Remote Control Collection" (Google Play Store) on my android phone to control the mouse and use the android keyboard on my laptop for about a year now. It works over WiFi though so it can lag at times. But it's nice for those lazy days when you just wanna lay back and surf Netflix and check TH-cam from the comfort of your bed like a freaking gentleman. Word.

      The problem with Pushbullet is that no one really knows whether any of your data leaves LAN. It isn't a big deal, but it is a pretty big security concern, especially since the app can use monetized services on your phone.

    • @PixPMusic

  • @MsHUGSaLOT

    I have a quick question about CPU bottlencking GPUs. I have two Strix GTX 980s in SLI on an older i3820 (OC 4ghz) on an Asus P9X79 mobo. GPU-Z reports I only have PCIe 2.0, when I know the P9X79 fully supports PCIe 3.0. Even running the graphical demo GPU-Z has still reports PCIe 2.0. Maybe Windows 10 is messing with that, or the way I overclocked my CPU may "downgrade" my PCIe ports? I dunno. But is my old CPU bottlenecking my GPUs?

    • @nielskersic328

      Your motherboard doesn't really have anything to do with the operating system you decide to put on it. Some (much) older motherboards won't boot into anything else than Windows, but with any motherboard, you shouldn't see any problems.

    • @Zinteus
      @Zinteus 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alex Dugman I'm not an expert but what I did was look at the price difference then sum up what was worth it to me. The additional stuff you pay for on the z170 deluxe is essentially the built on ac wifi and bluetooth. If those sound important to you then definitely go with the deluxe. Then there's also 6 USB 3.1 ports on the back and a hyper m.2 x4 pcie card which will let you have an extra m.2 slot at the cost of a pcie lane. Then there's also the u.2 adapter which I'm not too sure about but might come in handy in the future. I went with the deluxe because of the built in wifi, adapters, usb3.1 slots and the number of storage expansions you can hook up to it. Both are good boards but all it comes down to is suits you more

    Is anyone interested in Skylake? I believe PCI 4.0 is coming out soon so any pci 4.0 video cards will not fit. When they come out. The video cards are probably about 2-3 years out though. Or will you build another build by then or you just don't care.

      Pci express 4.0 is backwards compatible. It is going to use the same connector and it is backwards compatible. There won't be any compatibility issues.

      "Gen 4 will use a new connector but the spec will be backward compatible mechanically and electrically with today’s 8GT Gen 3." www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1326922&page_number=1
      So there is still hope for backwards compatibility?

    • @davidyoung9443
      @davidyoung9443 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Party Waffel You are right about backwards compatibility. What I am saying is that this board has very limited upgrade ability in the future. I am still running on a x79 platform and have had numerous video cards. What you will get with Skylake is this generation of video cards and one more then you are done. Regardless if you have the CPU horsepower to run or not. Or you can hold out for one more year the new pci slots will come out and your platform will have longer legs. Sorry if I was unclear on what I was saying.

      begone neck beard!

    • @noanoxan
      @noanoxan 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheLawnWanderer Gold doesn't oxidize at all, which is why it's used for connections instead of nickel.
      The main reason you don't want to touch the bottom of a modern CPU is because they're class 2 ESD components and can be damaged a lot easier than older CPUs.

    • @hongtanke
      @hongtanke 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the Neckbeard says that's not true. Also, human salts can cause Gold to oxidize as can open air. It does this with no added heat but by the chemical reaction caused by salts.
      Other than that acid is the only thing that causes it to oxidize.

    Definitely is not a board for me as this motherboard has way too many features I wouldn't use and thus I won't be buying this $400+ Canadian currency mobo. Also with Asus being in the news for the wrong reasons in recent times even if I needed this mobo I wouldn't buy it. Thanks Wendell though for your in depth review of this board.

    using non-ESD safe Q-Tips on a CPU for 5 minutes is about the worst advice ive heard.
    if you accidentally touched your CPU contacts, it would be best to use some Isopropyl alcohol or a Xylene based substance with a lint free cloth, as you can easily build up static electricity by rubbing a Q-tip on the gold contacts.
    your finger oils are not going to impede contact because the microsprings were DESIGNED around something called "Wipe" which is basically horizantal scraping of the gold surface contact due to vertical deflection for the purpose of wiping away surface contaminants,film,corrosion,oils,dust,etc... Even small amounts (0.001 inches) of metal-on-metal wipe are enough to improve mating, which you can physically see happening by looking at the scrape marks on the bottom of a CPU thats already been installed.
