  • In episode 36, we decide to go on a day trip to neighboring Pingtung (屏東市), an off-the-beaten-track laid-back charming weekend get-away. We take a cab ride up into the mountains to check out the Shan Chuan Glass Suspension bridge, one of the longest in Taiwan! Then we explore Taiwan's very first cacao farm, where we get to taste some fresh cacao right off the tree at Choose Chius Chocolate! After some wandering, we stumble into a tiny town for a glimpse of traditional village life. Lastly, we head for Pingtung City's bustling night market, where Gabe eats some fresh street-side sashimi!
    *Note: after some more research, it turns out that the Shan Chuan suspension bridge is not the longest in Taiwan, as we claimed in the video.

    雖然沒有中文字幕聽不懂,但還是很喜歡妳們的影片,祝福你們在台灣一切平安快樂,如果有中文字幕的話,我相信訂閱人數會很快破萬,因為還是有很多台灣人聽不懂英文

    This really brings back lots of positive memories from our family summer vacation 3 years ago. I’m glad U2 enjoyed this area too. I have to say Taiwan public transportation cost is so much cheaper than North America, especially those new hourly bike rentals racks by all train stations. Thanks again 4 supporting Taiwan + stay safe and healthy too.

      Definitely! Taiwan public transportation is amazing! We love taking the bike rentals here in Kaohsiung since they’re free for the first thirty minutes! And everything is connected through Easy Card - America could definitely learn a few things from Taiwan’s public transit.

    You could stay in Taiwan for a long enough time to discover it's charm, especially the mountain and forest.

    Actually that was the old time highway dated back 40 or 50 years ago. Taiwan's first national highway was completed in late 1970s. National highway is comparable to interstate highway in US. Apparently, the "old highway" is filled with traffic lights. However, it is a good route that connects towns & cities in Taiwan.
    As for the seafood fried noodle, I guess you ordered a sort of "three fresh" fried noodle. "Three fresh" means any three kinds of fresh seafood combination, e.g. clam, squid, shrimp, fish, etc. They are fried together with noodle. Since noodle absorb seafood flavor, it not only smells good, but also tastes wonderful.
    Not only there is "three fresh" fried noodle, but also "three fresh" fried rice. By the way, three fresh can be either seafood or meat, like pork, chicken and duck meat.

      Interesting! Thanks for the info! That’s good to know about the noodles, google often translates food items incorrectly so we are never sure lol

    Hello, just to let you know that you can just swip your easy card and you will be only charged for the local train fare, but no guaranteed to have seats. For short distance, this is certainly fine. Therefore, use your easycard whereeve you go when using public tranport except Taiwan High Speed.

    It was an Uber driver, you can call Uber anywhere in 🇹🇼 Taiwan.

      No it wasn't, he might drive for uber too, but that service is not uber. uber you have to use it on your own phone. It's a private cab service that lots of touristy places and restaurants have affiliations with.

    If you guys start adding Chinese subtitles, your channel is gonna blow up in Taiwan. Just be forewarned... subtitles are the most annoying thing in the entire world. Hope to see you guys around Kaohsiung someday!

    • @AlongWeGo
      @AlongWeGo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you, Wes! We love your channel, it’s given us so much inspiration! Adding Chinese subtitles sounds like such an intimidating process! Do you do your subtitles yourself? Is there a good program to use?

      I love pingtung but can you go further to kenting park up in the north after pingtung i suppose. I miss pingtung as i was. Caregiver in Hsiao Ai Home for the aged in chao chou hsien , pingtung. It’s really hard communicating as taiwanese speaks a few dialects, students, & professionals can easily communicate in english. Goodluck & excited to see more videos as i subscribe to your channel. God bless!
