I teach 2s and 3s. I keep all of the toy shelves turned around. They are on wheels so I set the toys for the day before the children arrive. As the year goes on and the children develop more impulse control, I turn a shelf around

I like the recyclables for block area. Many teachers do not have a big budget to buy toys. Its a fun and creative way to use these materials.

Never thought of the play house as a block area activity, but i can see the connection now that you point it out. Thank you!

Julie Moyer - It’s definitely played with more in the block area in my classroom. The children love adding cars and blocks to the scene.

Great tips for beginning of year. So much less stressful to start that way.

I'm so glad I stumbled into your channel. My block area is overwhelming and it's the favorite center for all the kiddos. I've been trying to figure out how to organize and control it. We use ECCRS tool as a part of a program to get tier ratings for quality childcare and to get the high rating you must make a lot of things accessible to the children and in certain amounts. How do you go around that to maintain the control and not miss the score?

That would be great to know. I also use ECERS, so I feel like I have to have all this stuff out. Plus my room is tiny, so I feel overwhelmed.
