Don't want to be that guy, but Land Rover SIII is not a defender. Defender name was only introduced when Discovery arrived, but I think any coil sprung landy could be legitimately called a defender. Also a 109, not a 110. Obviously.
@@mattblack6736 Beside pro China for a couple videos. The rest of his content is Top. Including his IRL projects, like the Smart Roadster, the Polo 3L and the old Est German car.
@ Yes, been watching soon after he started. I think around the 3k sub mark and 3 or 4 years ago. Your suggestions was great, shame i already watch it and can't sub again. 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Harry, I'm guessing these Dakar videos don't top your viewing charts, but so pleased you've gone again this year, so 🙏🏻❤. Love the cockpit of that classic Range Rover.
Ten years ago I saw the Dakar Rally when it came through Uyuni in Bolivia. I took a taxi into the desert and spent a cold and rainy day watching the madness with a Bolivian family who took pity on me and let me take shelter in their panel van. Afterwards they drove us back into town and we stopped a few times to pull stranded spectator vehicles out of the mud while the last of the competitors came past us on Transalps or in Shoguns.
Absolutely amazing summary from Harry - now feel like 10% been there - and 11% with all the talks to the drivers and mechanics. And my neighbours Lithuanians are participating with an ancient Land Rover with Vilnius museum on the side. Bonkers. Thanks for the video from Latvia - keep them coming!
12 Lithuanian crews in total. Per capita must be the country with most participants in the world. Estonians are also taking part, waiting for braliukai crew next year 😁
It is a treat any time you can bring classic vehicles to us with the sound of mechanics, spanners, air tools and engine rumblings. It just doesn’t get any better than this!
You have to look for independent coverage. Some of this footage was 'borrowed' from other people's footage. There were 2 English blokes, who probably live there, going around the first week posting footage. It's unfortunate that the official footage is so poor, but also realise you'd need a huge team of people to cover the distances the competitors travel. Maybe in the future, with GoPros and Starlink the organisation might pull finger, but the costs would be astronomical. Even just listening to Harry's breakdown of His last years vids, one can see that His 'off road' stuff is quite niche.
Love the regular car reviews but the Dakar videos are very special. Getting behind the scenes and in the cars as well as speaking to the competitors and mechanics is fantastic. Thank you!
Thanks for providing coverage of the Dakar. I really appreciate the paddock interviews. As a Dutch guy myself it is cool to see a down to earth interview of Erik van Loon. Also saw Albert Fabrega walking around, nothing to do for F1 now I guess.
Great video Harry, the Classic section is the one I’m most interested in, and this year’s event has been wonderful to watch. And the way you can get up so close and chat with the competitors is amazing, they all seem so friendly and welcoming. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
Thanks for the great coverage and interviews! The Classic class is just brilliant! Thanks for covering this. The Audis are a personal favorite, but the Range Rover with the 3.9 L aluminum V8 is close to my heart. My Dad was on the development team for that at GM. Buick and Oldsmobile each had a version in 1962 and 1963. The tooling was then sold to Rover, who modified it some over the years. It has been quite fun to follow the various makes of car that have fitted it. So I'm hoping it will win its class, but just being there is a win of sorts.
Normally I wouldn't be a fan of it being a replica, but considering it's actually competing and really does look the part I love it. Others may feel differently.
What a fantastic episode Harry. Super informative. Having these kinds of different episodes really makes the whole channel more interesting and unique. Well done Harry!
Harry, you are brilliant at this kind of reportage! Please keep the spirit of this episode alive in your weekly vlog. Congratulations on a superb show!!!
What a wonderful report! Thank you very much for bringing us such an intimate look into the scene. The Dakar has always been an irrational thing, but I loved it from the very beginning. And the classic cars hit the spot!
Fantastic Video and insight into the Dakar Harry. What an event. The Classics are just ace and the Toyota Hi Lux & Ford Raptor sound absolutely savage. Excellent stuff and cheers Harry. Always a brilliant Sunday evening treat to watch your latest You Tube upload and I'm very much looking forward to more of your roadtrips in 2025. Cheers Simon. 😎👍
You mentioned that the dakar videos were your least viewed videos, but i love them! Thanks for doing them anyways! No one else does it like you. Cheers!
Amazing insight and an impressive job covering this considering you're do it solo Harry. Amazing to see such involvement from the classic entries and long may it continue.
Excellent episode! thank you Harry for the sweet sights and tasty sounds! 959 the ultimate beach buggy….makes sense ! So many interesting and well loved machines
Loved seeing all those classic entries. Wow, the 2cv, the quattro's, the 24 yo landcruiser, fantastic. The noise from the competition Hilux, just a treat.
As you say, the sounds are amazing but I have to admire the development and engineering which makes these machines survive these torque sapping conditions. Endurance events are special. Great coverage thank you.
Harry that was a great film, always one of my favoutires when you cover this event. Didn't realise there is a youtube channel, thanks for the link. A real treat to see the Quattros, Wow!
Blimey! You could get where castor oil couldn’t get…! Absolutely Super Video Harry💥 I’ve been waiting for you to get a 2CV on the channel…🤣 You may as well retire…cause you won’t beat this video!😍💥
what a brilliant video. as always your interest and passion is infectious harry, couldn't help but smile throughout. you must have seemed so anonymous by yourself with the small camera - the guy in the series 3 had the most realistic reaction to meeting you, knowing who you were in my opinion 😂
What a treat to see four classic quattros in Dakar - I thought I was seeing a mirage, what an amazing sight! Kudos to all the classic teams - Awesome Dakar coverage as always, Thank you Harry!
Someone else commented how your personal video was better than the official coverage, they were spot on. Well done Harry, that video was probably a pain the the butt to make, THANK YOU 🏆
Harry shows a better video than the official videos. Which are short, and full of music. Turned me off watching Dakar racing. This is great. Thanks Harry.
Harry this is such a wicket video - better than the coverage on the official channel. The chat with the fella with the for Quattros is brilliant. TY for sharing the experience!
Thanks for taking us on the journey Harry. That is fantastic footage. Those audis are cool nice to see some old mitsubishi's flying across the desert? Hopefully news ones ine day with the Honda Nissan partnership there might be one day
The guy in the Defender - what a legend…..
They prepared that Defender in less than 5 weeks. And took a victory in it’s class and third overal. Amazing team.
@@Kosmoz86Old School…..
Defenders aren't nearly as unreliable as people make out.
Mine usually manages thousands of miles between major mechanical failures
@@neilrobson3064 it's a series 3, not a Defender, which is even more impressive because as you saw its on leaf springs, not coils. 👍

The 2CV is the GOAT!. Great to see it compete at the Dakar. Cheers Harry 👍
Thanks Harry, so good to see a 2CV amongst all the 4x4s
The 2cv was also 4x4, and another had 2 engines to accomplish it lol

Better than the official online youtube coverage
And no childish, indulgent, corny narration.
Official coverage of everything is shite now.
They're only allowed to show 10 minutes highlights due to territorial rights holders sadly. But I agree the commentary is a bit cheesy.
I couldn’t agree more.

Quattro! 959! Rangie! Wonderful to see so many (older) cars and so much enthusiasm for them. Thanks Harry.
959's a replica based on a 964 Carrera 4 (six out of the seven Dakar originals survive, four in the Porsche museum collection). Still awesome though!
