Great video! It would be interesting to see what are differences in photos between these focal lengths if you moved when changing the focal length (the opposite of this video where you stayed in the same spot).
That is an awesome suggestion, I need to format how I want to shoot the video, and I could do a comparison showing the creative angles with each focal length.
You are right that stopping down will sharpen the image all around For demonstration I kept the aperture at 2.8 to accurately show how each focal length affects IQ (image quality). If set the aperitifs to f/8, I would again have to do it for all of the focal lengths for an accurate comparison. The purpose of the video was to show the range of the lens.
I just received my Sony A7CIii yesterday and oh man......., I right away set the 24-70 version I and works amazing, still will not update to version II, does all I need, eventually I will update but as far as functions to me its al the same except for size and weight, I will not spend the extra cash for the version II right now.
so I shot all of these at f/2.8 (the widest aperture of this lens). So if I wanted less blur I would stop down to around f/8.0. In other words, yes, the blur is adjustable depending on your settings.
I have the Sony 24-50 f2.8 on order. I really like the size of that lens and how it pairs with a7cii. It’s going to be my only lens. Do you think the 24-70 gmii would be a better “only” lens? It’s just more expensive and of course bigger. What are your thoughts?
I’ll put it this way, if you want a lens that is extremely versatile, future proof, ruggedly built, and the most compact of all its competition, then go the 24-70GMii would be the lens. For what I do, it’s the best only lens ever!
@@JasonPierceOfficial that’s a great way to see it. I really value the size and weight of the 24-50. I feel I’ll be happy with it. But idk if in the long run I’ll probably want the gmii. I used to have the 50 gm 1.2 and it was my favorite lens for everything I did then sold all my gear. But coming back to Sony, I think I’ll like the 24-50. Saving 1k+ on the price but only time will tell I guess
@joshmaldonado6614 The non common focal ranges Sony has been releasing have been looking good. I personally am really interested in the 16-25G Lens, maybe to replace my 20mm f/1.8 G lens. Hey but don’t sweat it. With 24-50 you’d be able to get 80% of the shots of the 24-70. I’d recommend really analyze your user experience. If you are constantly finding you want more range, ability punch in, or wider. These are tell tale indicators of perhaps considering a difference focal range.
Hey there, for me the small rig base plate is not weighty at all. I personally do not notice its weight. But what I do notice is the added comfort and handling it provides 😀
I am a beginner photographer who recently purchased the A7CII. I am planning to buy only one lens for learning. Should I go with this GM zoom or should I prefer a prime lens?

Well, to me for what I do, this is the best all around lens. Wide enough for landscape and architecture. Also you can punch in enough for telephoto shots. I would say the only competition is the 16-35, or 24-70. You need to know your shooting style. I originally had a sony 16-35GM. But I sold this lens to buy the 24-70gm. The reason is because I always felt like I was zooming in to 35mm, but I always wanted more reach. The 24-70GMii is perfect.
I've seen some reviews on the web showcasing the bokeh and I was disappointed in the circular highlights. They have that onion ring quality. Now, I don't expect GM prime lens bokeh from a zoom, but for $2300 the bokeh could be significantly better.
Man, I am sooooo looking forward to when I buy this lens! Getting it before my birthday/summer vacation this year, and this is the lens I committed to bring with me. Edit: oh, also, I am VERY glad you’re using it with an α7CII. Love to see that it pairs well with it, since that’s my current camera of choice. Love that too! 📸

This was one of the best videos I’ve seen on TH-cam camera gear this year! Awesome and keep up the great work
God bless you bro, thanks for the support!
You remind me of Manny Ortiz whn he started, i hope you grow... Just look at his videos from his beginnings :)
💯 this man has potential, and want to see him grow as well!
Wow, I’m humbled by that comment, I watch Manny’s videos too, thanks for watching 📸🔥🙏
Absolutely beautiful ! I even love the camera you are filming on😊 great work and one of the best reviewers on TH-cam
Thanks so much 😊
Just bought the 2nd to last one on Sony’s site. After watching this I’m even more excited

You talk about the impact of focal length but not of aperture. A 70mm image at f/8 will also have a structured background.
You are right that stopping down will sharpen the image all around

This is perfect !! I just picked up this lenses and this video pretty much gives me an idea of what I’ll be working with ! 🫡🫡
This was a very useful comparison of focal lengths - thanks for posting it👍
Glad it was helpful!

That’s awesome my friend!
do these high focal length always blurr the background ? is there no way to avoid this ?

Nice video and i have a question, with the smallrig bottom plate how front heavy is the set-up?
Hey there, for me the small rig base plate is not weighty at all. I personally do not notice its weight. But what I do notice is the added comfort and handling it provides 😀
How is handling this lens with a7cii?
Do you prefer use 24 and 50 gm or this lens?
This is the best all around lens on the market in my opinion. The handling is very good especially if you use a small rig base plate
Great video. Wondering what your thoughts on the weight and balance of the a7CII with that 24-70 GM II?
Overall good balance for the range the lens is giving you

Video was grt ! Which camera body you’ve used?
For filming I used A7C, for photos I used a7C2
great video - what camera bag do you use?

FORGET the GMaster. WHAT are you filming on???
I’m filming on the original A7C paired with the 20mm f1.8 G lens 😁
I was thinking the same damnnnn thing 😂😂😂😂😂
I like the comparison of the different focal lengths , well done, I am not a pro, but, cutting legs and body parts is not my preference , just me
Thanks for the comment, i know what you mean about cutting off certain areas of the image.
