Let's also take a moment to appreciate Jeter doing the most Jeter thing, reminding people of the moment and not taking the spotlight away from Aaron's moment. This is why we've been without an official captain for so long. We've needed that literal embodiment of the Yankee way, and Judge embodies that spirit, of humility, performance, and class. I've seen so many people saying he's gonna be playing 1st Base with all his injuries, he's only been injured twice maybe three times in his career, he's healthy, and if you know the stories about him, this designation of captaincy is going to be what drives him further and it might not be next year but within the next 2 to 5 years our Yanks are gonna hang at least another banner or two

Yeah considering it was not used long in the mid to late 20th century and the early 21st century only 3 other yankees worn 99 but they never wore it for long and they were chuck keller matt howard and brian bruney now judge wears it and he will still make sure it’s worn much longer than his past players that worn 99 before him, that number will be retired after judge’s career is over and we may not see another player wear the 99 again, but on the bright side we will always wear the number 99 no matter who worn it wether it’s the players before judge or judge himself and if you want to make brian bruney’s final yankees jersey then you have to take an aaron judge jersey without his last name on the back above the 99 just leaving the 99 on the back and putting the 2009 inaugural season patch and the 2009 world series championship patch on both sleeves on the jersey, for matt howard same thing but with the 1996 world series patch on the right sleeve, for for chuck keller you would have to find a creme 99 yankees jersey with the same block font as on judge’s allstar jersey but shouldn’t have his name on top like mentioned before this is so the custom jersey can have the 1952 charlie keller embroidery signature stitched on the bottom right of it, it’s very hard to get the 99 jersey of all 3 players in different time zones before judge since they were not as popular in the major leagues but the only 99 was judge to be the most popular in the major leagues, once we found out we were bringing back the number 99 again in 2016 I cried happy because there was a chance to have a player to wear this jersey and not be traded like the other 3 players that worn 99, and then hearing that judge was being resigned with the yankees and being named the 16th captain we were like he’s the only player to wear number 99 the longest he broke the record of the world’s longest time player to wear number 99 without being traded which should go into the guinness book of world records to show that he permanently replaced brian bruney taking his final jersey number and becoming the final ever player to wear it, also brian bruney had owned a few players wearing number 99 on different teams but not as many as judge, same with howard and keller so let’s see if brian bruney and matthew howard will come back to see the number 99 be retired and see their reaction when they see judge reveal it and his plaque, so we’ll being saying goodbye to the number 99 on the yankees for all time in less than 9 years from now and us yankee fans will wear chuck keller matt howard brian bruney and aaron judge all together and younger people like children will never understand why we put patches or made a custom creme yankees 99 jersey and will still think that aaron judge was the only one that worn 99 in yankees history and we would explain the other players who worn it before him and they will still be confused until they see a good spoiler shot of brian bruney wearing a number 99 jersey
