This is a good review of the Norinco NP22. I've been shopping here in Canada for these pistols, and they are priced from about 340.00CAD to 400.00CAD, whereas the SIG 226 are generally from 1150.00 to 1350.00CAD, With what you've shown here , and my hobby being some non-competitive target shooting and plinking,..this is a 'no-brainer' of which to buy first. I have an NP29 and find that it's every bit a good a 'shooter' as my other better known brands of 1911 pistols. ( At least in my hands) So I'm thinking that I'm now about to place the order for the NP22 . Thanks for these reviews, I do enjoy the no nonsense approach you have.
I used to test this pistol six years ago. It's my friend's. I think it's so nice gun. Its guy and operated system like the Sig Sauer 226. It's also low price.
I just picked one up for 250$ cash mint condition 😊 gotta pick it up today yet first handgun for 250$ sounds pretty good to me haha couldn't decline the offer
My NP-22 is great. I installed the sig SRT and springs with no mods and use sig mags. I have put 5000 rounds through it and no frame damage. Mine us the older non railed version but I might buy another one. It shoots better than my glock, sig 320, and sr9. Alnost as good as my high power.
@@simplydesaninitaly2429 my np 22 is still rock solid. Got to be over 20000 rounds now. Almost time to change the springs again. I can't speak to how well it will work in a different model or even in acdifferent gun same model. I would thonk the newer guns are probably better and have better quality control.
Sig P226 owner here. I would get a NP-22 to compare to mine. Did you change trigger bar, main spring seat, and main spring? Sorry, my parts names are not so good but these parts are inside the grip.
@@encinobalboa I changed all the springs in the gun. All frame springs, recoil springs and barrel. The only norinco parts left are the norinco frame and slide the actual skeleton of a gun.
Gun city in Auckland there must have done some surface finishing work on the receiver as well as the slide. Yours looks so good. It is not the same factory finish from what I saw at my local store, which are horrendous.
Hi Simply desan 2, there are a few differences. Accuracy, the Tanfoglio is better but it has a lower bore axis and has less felt recoil. Trigger, the double action is heavy with the NP22 and has a long pull, however the single action on mine is pretty good and has a good break when the trigger is pulled. The trigger has gotten better the more I use it. Reliability, on this NP22 it is excellent and better than my Tanfoglio, I have had zero malfunctions except for a couple of ammo related issues because I loaded my ammo too low. The Tanfoglio has had new springs and I had to replace the extractor too.
HI Simply Desan, The NP22 is designed as a combat handgun and will handle many many thousands of rounds, it also comes with a extra set of springs when you buy it just incase you do break one of the springs. I do not think the Sig parts will fit since this NP22 was a copy of the older generation of Sig P226, I think the West German one, but I could be wrong.
Many junk guns in USA were even cheaper than Norinco yet they were not banned. The real reason why Norinco is banned is due to that company is run by the Chinese military and the revenues of gun sales will be used to fund the Chinese army or their new weapon research.
Actually the real truth is the Chinese were selling their guns to US gangs and got caught. So all Chinese firearms were banned from the US because of it
To be fair you both are right. The selling to the gangs probably happened and was used as an excuse but the real reason is that the revenues go to the military.
HI Anas Khan, unfortunately I wont be able to make that video since the New Zealand government has now made all semi auto rifles that are bigger than .22lr illegal. I no longer have access to any of those great rifles.
@@nzoutdoorandsports3697 thanks for your reply . Can you tell how good np 22 is ?? , please rate 1 to 10 for self defence purpose. I will be buying this pistol, actually this will be my first pistol but in near future yes I'm looking forward to buy barrette m9 a3 or may be something in CZ ( please suggest which one i shld buy ) . Trump Guts No, they cannot. The only reason you can be granted any kind of firearms licence - and also keep in mind it's comparatively difficult to obtain the class of licence required for a handgun purchase versus the class for semi-automatic or bolt-action rifles - is for the purposes of hunting and/or recreational target shooting.
I agree, we're just as bad-I live in Canada-we need to spend extra money and time to get a restricted license on top of your required possession and acquisition license to even buy a handgun and we're not allowed self defense either with guns. I am surprised that New Zealand is allowed 15 round mags and we're stuck with 9.
Too bad it is illegal to purchase the Norinco pistol in the USA. The Norinco is priced less than $400. in CANADA. We are stuck with the High Priced Sig Sauer pistols in the USA which are priced around $1000.
Yes, but you are buying quality and you can get much better quality guns in the USA than the Norinco NP22, such as Smith & Wesson SD9 VE for under $300 available in 9mm and .40S&W
Imagine shooting a DA revolver. They served very well for a long time. Still do. Trigger is heavy. You get used to it the more you shoot. Is it reliable. The only question in my book that counts. Can you bet your life on it to go bang every time. $400 gun or $1200 does not matter to me. On the other hand if gun is reliable get 3 NP for the price of one SIG. Yes i know gun snobs pretending that somehow Chinese steel is inferior in quality to German steel.
Hello Ahmed, the NP22 does not have a traditional safety, it has a de-cocker. When you push down on the de-cocker it safely drops the hammer so that the first shot has to be made from double action which is much heavier than single action.
@@wdadios4010 Hi there Wally, it is difficult to answer your question accurately without more info but I will try. I am assuming that by Beginner pistol you mean as a first one. As a first pistol I would not recommend the 40s&w because it has much more "kick" than a 9mm, some first time shooters can develop a flintch when shooting powerful pistols as beginners. 9mm is easier to control and get back on target with follow up shots. Now that being said a 40S&W is a good choice for self defence because it has great stopping power and in the hands of a experienced shooter can be just as fast and accurate as any 9mm. When both my son and wife started to shoot they started on a .22LR pistol and then I got them 9mm which they have stayed with.

"For the range" ;) gotcha - Ridiculous laws in new zealand in regards to self defense.
Admittedly shooting in New Zealand is only based on shooting at the ranges and for sport. At least we can still shoot so I am happy with that.
So gun owners cannot use their legal registered guns due to the law prohibited to shoot home invaders or burgers for self defense in NZ?
