Stephen Fitzmaurice, Ph.D. Associate Professor

My name is Dr. Stephen Fitzmaurice, I am an Associate Professor here at Clemson. I earned my Ph.D. from Gallaudet University and my Masters in Interpreting Pedagogy from Northeastern University. I started working at Clemson in 2010 and I teach educational interpreting and a few advanced language courses. I am also the Principle Investigator for the South Carolina Educational Interpreting Center. My research interests include applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, educational interpreting and the impacts of an interpreted education. I love working at Clemson because ASL is under the Department of Languages and not a disability or communication disorders department. I also love working at Clemson because we have an amazing team of researchers finding the answers to important questions and great teachers sharing the language we love with students.
