  • My name is Dr. Stephen Fitzmaurice, I am an Associate Professor here at Clemson. I earned my Ph.D. from Gallaudet University and my Masters in Interpreting Pedagogy from Northeastern University. I started working at Clemson in 2010 and I teach educational interpreting and a few advanced language courses. I am also the Principle Investigator for the South Carolina Educational Interpreting Center. My research interests include applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, educational interpreting and the impacts of an interpreted education. I love working at Clemson because ASL is under the Department of Languages and not a disability or communication disorders department. I also love working at Clemson because we have an amazing team of researchers finding the answers to important questions and great teachers sharing the language we love with students. Our Clemson students are among the brightest, most talented in the entire country with a passion for learning! Go Tigers
