Good morning!! Wonderful review. Since I work for Dior and I’m in stores all the time, just sending a little knowledge;) they are going completely natural in everything they are doing. They are eliminating all bad or nasty ingredients to the environment and replacing them with others.
Most formulas are not changed a whole lot but some differences. All the boxes and are 90% biodegradable and recycled. The sleeves are now gone since it was added waste. Since most people didn’t care for them. However, who knows? How that will go😂 Dior is almost done with all the Reformulated stuff. I think backstage powder and CapTure Foundation, the setting spray are the next ones. The Backstage was just reformulated.
It will be interesting on what customers think of these Reformulated stuff. So far it’s been good for them. Not too many people notice or does it bother them.
Thank you for all that you do! 😘💕🥰

those new to the brand or those who don’t watch makeup youtubers won’t probably notice, but those of us who know and love the old formula could definitely tell. i’m glad the brand is reducing packaging, but if the performance of the makeup suffers, unfortunately it’s goodbye to the brand for me unless they can make “clean” products that perform as well as the old formulas. so sad - i really love the old quint formula.

There’s nothing nasty about parabens which are clinically tested and have been used forever, unlike the “natural” preservatives. There’s plenty of nasty in fragrances and essential oils though, but I don’t think Dior is reducing those.

@@ddavidjp I know. I love the older formulas too most of the time. I just work for them. When you work in the cosmetic industry has long as I have for over 30 yrs in retail. We just do what the company wants to do.
But I some customers that use Dior or any brand, can tell. But newer customers like you said, want notice much. I wish I had more say in things but I’m just a little fish in a big ocean.

@@gabeluvsmakeup thanks for your input and heads up! I understand. I think it is great for brands to be more environmentally conscious. I just wish brands wouldn't feel pressured by the fear mongering and plain misinformation that is "clean" beauty. I would have so much to say about the shoddy biased "research" clean beauty companies fund or cherry pick and how much higher the risk for allergies is with a lot of natural compounds. Not just as a consumer but more so as someone working in research 😑

Thank you for the review Jennifer.
As far as the changes go, well I won’t be purchasing the new eyeshadow quints. Cornstarch is not my friend with my very very dry skin. I’ve returned other products from different companies due to cornstarch. It’s just too drying for my skin. I’m not happy with the change in the packaging at all. The “old” closure worked wonderfully for me. I’m closing in on being 70 years old and have some difficulties with arthritis now. I had to send back the Pat McGrath single blushes when they came out. I absolutely could not open those components. Many of my friends in my age group also have this issue. I’m not going to waste my time and have to deal with returns again.
As far as the little velvet sleeve, that didn’t make much of a difference to me, but it did add to the luxury experience. And if they are going to go “cheaper” with their packaging and using “cheap” (cornstarch) ingredients, how about keeping the price the same. They’ve raised the cost.
I’m very disappointed in the latest changes. I’ll use what I have.

I guess no one else cares BUT I love their old applicators!! Having 4 different shapes perfect for packing, lining, crease and inner corner. I often use them and do my eyes with them. I'm really disappointed they changed them. And.... Why change up existing quints instead of just adding to them. I grabbed Red Tartan and Poncho brand new for less than half original price 😊also got Denim for 30% off. Now debating to get Coral Paisley and Black Bow... I actually really like their Velvet quints but I see them more as an alternative as they give a different look than the other quints

I had been so busy buying up Dior's L/E Quints and all the Backstage Eye Palettes that I wasnt worried about the regular line of Quints in the past. I could only afford to pick one up when I heard your warning Jen, that I managed to hunt down Denim and so glad I did before it changed. It looks stunning on. I'm really not impressed with the new opening either. All my Givenchy Palettes are a simple press down button. It's all good and well to clean up the formula but they dont have to change the texture to do this. I really wanted to buy Rouge Trafalgar, especially as its not listed as part of the new range. We haven't got the new reformulated products Online at Dior yet. I did like the Quint you used strangely called 'Khaki', despite having no khaki shades in the palette. I get rather upset too when a pan which should contain pigmented eye-shadow is taken up with a topper sparkle. I certainly hope this won't be a trend. Jen, Dior's Quints never came with a velvet pouch, maybe you're thinking of Chanel? I'll be eagerly awaiting your next video when you test the next Quint. What then concerns me is whether the Limited Edition Quints are going to follow suit and contain topper shades too. I wasn't impressed by the pay-off from the last Quints released that appeared quite sheer on the lids. I can abide by 'hit or miss' products and want to be sure that what I buy will be the same quality as always, especially at these prices!🇦🇺💖🕊

Hi Jennifer! Thank you for demoing some of Dior’s reformulated products. I think corn starch replaces talc as a pigment base. I am most interested in the eyeshadows. I have tried several brands of talc-free eyeshadows - and I have been dissatisfied with all of them because all shades oxidize to orange or brown, and all shimmer shades look dull within minutes. If those issues don’t occur with Dior’s new eyeshadows, I will be happy to buy them.

I really loved the look you made with the Khaki. I like a grungy green. I’m disappointed that the new formula isn’t as creamy or “special” as the old especially the mattes and the topper. It’s a shame because the old Dior quints were such a great formula. Dior reformulations have seemed to make every one of their products more meh(or just not work at all for me anymore like their Forever foundation reformulation which now breaks me out)

The reason for reformulating the shadows was to remove the talc and replace it with corn starch and they going natural.A week ago I bought Plum Tutu and Grand Bal in the new formula. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. In my opinion, the new version is worse, the shadows are drier, less creamy, the mattes are patchy and the glossy shadows are very dry and have almost no particles at all. Such a ghostly shadow. I ended up giving back the Plum Tutu and exchanging the Grand Bal for an older version :D I also bought 2 other quints while they are still available.

I get the “ WHY” but , if it isn’t broke ……..THEY RAISE THE PRICES IN A BRAND (THAT IS ALREADY HIGH) for something THAT ISN’T EVEN BETTER. ! I know, they all are doing that. But , it’s sad that they are messing with a great product I can understand the “WHY” with their packaging , but , some people can’t do clasps or like the hard to open I saw a comment about mature people having problems opening. I understand , I have arthritis in hands bad. I’ll see is all I can say. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BE SALTY. your review was awesome, and the look is really pretty ❤❤❤

I saw other reviews and rushed out to buy Jungle. What a beautiful “old” formula. Why, why fix something that’s not broken. My love affair (and purchasing) of Dior of coming to an end. I saw they reformulated the blushes too. I love the ones I have. There are other brands out there that are consistent and I like. Maybe an eyeliner. What is the comparison of the eyeliner to VB eyeliners? Those are my favorite.

They’re a prestige brand and their makeup and components should reflect that. It should be amazing-even with a clean formula. I can get on board with reduction in packaging waste etc. but to have something much less shelf stable isn't sustainable. I don't mind added chemicals to make the formulas more shelf stable so we don't have to throw out our makeup more often

If Dior didn't provide the easy opening because of cost they need a reality shock. Out of all the luxury brands their packaging is just not even bothering. Simply a black case. Younger luxury beauty buyers are noticing it. They have all these amazing designers who work for them and actually create beautiful wrapping papers etc - why they don't put in on the products.

One reason for all these reformulations is regulations in other countries and California has a law that is requiring skincare and cosmetics to be cruelty free and non animal tested by 2025.
So if these companies want to stay in some of the biggest markets they have to make these changes. It’s isn’t all just the companies deciding to make changes.

  • @loytoco
    @loytoco ปีที่แล้ว +2

I am disappointed in the change, but I guess I will be saving money, so it may be good! The matte I have seen look like Natasha Denona's to me, which is the worst formulation I have ever tried. Patchy, they blend and disappear easily, no character whatsoever. I may be wrong, since I haven't tried the new Dior, but that's the effect I get when looking at them.
I guess there may be variation among the quints, since I think Rivage and Eden Roc were already in the new formula, and they didn't perform exactly the same.
The packaging opening is a bigger issue, in my opinion, since it doesn't take into account all the people with hand issues (such as arthritis). It was perfect, there was no need to mess with perfection. I still love Dior, but this was a disappointment.
