I finally did the fastex buckle upgrade to my ALICE Large just last year. I bought mine in 1997 as a young Marine assigned to a Marine Expeditionary Unit with a Battalion Landing Team. Best ruck I have ever had. I have traveled the world with it and it has seen six deployments and numerous train ups and exercises. When I deployed to Iraq with the Army at the end of 2003, it went with me, it was my E&E/Med Bag. I still use it today for recreational use.
Any plans to hit the inside of the main compartment flap with some Flex Seal to water proof it? I've seen some guys do that and was thinking about it. Part of me thinks it's overkill if you have a ruck cover but the other part of me says "nothing is overkill to keep dry."
