  • A popular new MTB trail at Innerleithen Golfie in Scotland called The Wardell Way. Expect a 4k MTB vlog riding the trail along with another called Flat White. Since opening and being listed on Trailforks this trail has been the talk of the Tweed Valley. Named after Scottish MTB legend Rab Wardell, this is a trail masterpiece. Credit and thanks to the builder and anyone involved.
    This is an enduro mtb trail with incredible rhythm to it, largely on a bed of loose shail and rock once you get out the trees. A good addition to the MTB trail network in the Tweed Valley in Scotland. Golfie has numerous trails and is a popular enduro mtb location.
    Bikes:
    Vitus E-Sommet VRS 2021 and 2022 models
    Mullet setup, Rockshox Zeb forks, Michelin E-Wild tyres and Shimano SLX brakes and drivetrain
    Personal supporters: Vitus Bikes, Michelin Bicycle, Dharco Clothing
    Camera: Go Pro Hero 8 and 9 Black
    Location: Golfie, Innerleithen Scotland

    Thanks again L&T for another bit of monday evening mtb video sunshine 😀👍
    Also, if someone could let me know the recommended place to park up to begin the climb to give the these trails a go, I've not been there before? thanks

    • @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB
      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is - built really well and a lot of flow to be had! It's a pleasure! Thanks for the comment. Sure, for parking there are a few options... head towards innerleithen golf club and you'll come across two small parking bays 5 mins out of the town before a bridge next to the river. It does get very busy there though so another option is keep going past the clubhouse and once you're over a cattle grid there is a parking bay on the right. We usually get parked there or on the grass near it. Failing that the town is good as you can grab a coffee after if you wish! It's a really good place and loads of trails!

      Enjoy when it comes! It isn't the most obvious although has been ridden and cut in a lot more since. Just go easy into it and keep an eye out for it after the straight :) you should find it ok!

    Hi again ☺ I've gotva pair of wild enduro front and rear due soon are you better with the gum x in winter I do have a new e wild 2.6 in gum x but thought the case felt bit flimsy compared to a dd or dh casing tyre. Thanks again Callum

    • @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB
      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We run the gum x year round in all conditions and it's been great. However you could easily run a DH tyre too for peace of mind - they will have a stronger casing although more draggy. Might not matter much on an ebike though!

      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! We use the Michelin wild enduros. Have always found them to provide amazing grip on the muddiest and wettest conditions 🙂

    • @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB
      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah forgot we were on the ebikes 😅 - standard wild enduros for the regular bikes and we use the heavier duty ebike version (e-wild) on the ebikes 🙂

    I did it last week, brill trail but really needs the exit sorting so it doesn't drop square-on to the fireroad.

    • @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB
      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup definitely agree there! Seems a note on Trailforks that a new exit is on the cards at some point

  • @greencroft
    @greencroft ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the exit from the new one more or less intimidating than the one off Avalanche onto the fireroad?

    • @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB
      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say less so as it's straighter and not off camber like Avalanche!

      @greencroft ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LauraJaneWeeTamMTB following your recommendation, I rode this trail not once but twice the week before last on our trip. It is a great addition to the hill for sure. A real tragedy what happened to Rab Wardell it really was. Pretty fitting tribute though. Trail looked really good although with GoPro flattening its quite hard to judge the steepness. How would you compare that to other blacks. Its quite funny how the blacks there are graded. Looked like maybe a 3 grade?

    • @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB
      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can't agree more. He was an absolute legend, such a loss. Nice to see this trail built in memory. It's built so well and has really good flow. It's not too steep - makes a good use of the hillside which is different to Avalanche next to it which is more direct down the hill! The exit is steep though. It rides well but it's quite a long chute so committing! Yup it's hard to judge alongside the blacks here - totally different to other countries! I've only got European experience and it's probably a red there with a black exit if that's possible!

  • @egbah428
    @egbah428 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's alright. Compared to most of the other golfie trails it feels like a trail centre trail. The golfie has way more fun challenging and interesting trails to ride. I'd rather slide down avalanche and perfect my skills on that. It shows as well as there were way more people than usual who only seemed to be here for this trail and probs not rode much other stuff. Maybe more people might check out the golfie now. God knows ive tried getting people up to ride and they all seem petrified of giving the golfie a go. This is just my opinion of course.

    • @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB
      @LauraJaneWeeTamMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the more variety there is the better. As you say many people are nervous about riding Golfie so having some less intimidating options are good. I think this one is great for skills as it’s hard to ride it consistently and not need to put in pedals. Get your comment tho, everyone will like different stuff 👍
