Harmony Nice to be fair, you are half right as there are two 'types' of satanism, one of which dose worship Satan. the other (which is the more popular of the two faiths) dose not and I'm fact doesn't worship any deities. Many that follow that faith (like two of my very good friends) actually prefer to see it as a life style/ philosophy as it dose not worship any deities. Their philosophies/ "rules" also seem semi similar as to that of Wicca where it's about not harming others e.c.t but there are somethings that are VERY different. For example the religion/philosophy was born out of trying to piss of Christians (hence the name) and their "rules" are rather brutal to ignorance, which I think is iffy as it seems to expect automatic knowledge rather than allowing space to be educated, which seems very different to Wicca.

I hate when people assume Wicca and witchcraft is automatically evil. I tried to explain to my mom that witchcraft is mainly energy and nature based but she just got really mad and wouldn't listen. I don't have time for ignorance in my life lmao.

Yeah my mom did that to me too, she said it's the devils way of controlling you and that I was going to hell and she burned all of the books I had about witchcraft and I was grounded for about 6 months. she controlled everything I was doing until I got baptised....which is sad bc I fell into the trap of Christianity and I don't believe in the Christian way, I'm believe in multiple gods rather than one. anyway I'm rambling lol sorry
Karupé oh trust me once I got the opportunity to move out, I left that household and I never plan on going back. I still love my mom and everything but I was sadly mistaken that she would understand and she never will. My boyfriend's parents are the same way...so I can't be open about it with anyone on either side of our families. The only ones who know are my older sister who is also Pagan but isn't open about it either, my 2nd cousin, my boyfriend and my coworkers. and if I have a family of my own I would probably have to hide it from my child so they don't tell their grandparents....

Sort of WICCA is a religion that practises witchcraft. You do not have to be WICCAN to perform witchcraft. Druids, Christians & others can all practise witchcraft but not believe in Wicca.

My husband is Muslim and as of now I'm agnostic. I grew up in a Christian house hold, but it didn't felt right as I got older. I love learning about new religions. It's crazy to realize if you just do a little digging you could find that there are so many misconceptions about Wicca. I mean to steal another religion's symbols and gods and make it evil in your religion is not only wrong but insane.
also just an addition for anyone interested, witch is a gender neutral term. you may see online that a male witch is a called a warlock or a wizard but these are not used in the community. wizard sounds too fantasy novel-y and warlock can actually be seen as an insult so it is not used. :)
Blue Moon the term "warlock" is old English for "oath breaker" or "liar" so it can be offensive! Usually just witch or even magician is gender neutral. 🌿
Morgan Stevens I've also read it comes from Old Norse "vardhlokkur" which means "caller of spirits", although the etymology you gave is the more commonly accepted. But I think vardhlokkur as a source gives warlock a more useful definition that isn't so gender-based!
Satanism isn't worshipping the devil. I've always seen it more as a state of mind/philosophy because it's not about worshipping a deity, but about respecting yourself and being confident in who you are. That is also what the satanic bible teaches, it's about all sorts of aspects about oneself and life in general and how to be confident and happy. The inverted pentagram isn't about the devil either. Like you said, the points represent the elements of water, earth, fire, air and spirit. With the tip pointing upwards it represents placing the spirit (aka deities) above all other elements. In Satanism, where they don't worship deities and place more importance on oneself, the pentagram is inverted, as the spirit isn't "above" the elements that make up the world. Other than that, I completely agree with what you've said - practically all of these misconceptions come from Christians who want to get rid of Paganism by making people scared of it.
kia hood paganism is different from satanism. Satanism is not just about worshipping oneself. Research Alister Crowley. Satanism is representing evil. But evil comes in many forms. Including self worship, because all things of 'self' are impure. I don't mean havinf confidence or loving yourself. I mean worshipping the flesh, worshipping all that a human being is inherently.
There are different types of Satanism but the most mainstream one is Laveyan Satanism. Laveyan Satanists do not believe in Satan at all. They practice self-worship and they follow a set of rules that increase their self love/awareness. The rules they follow also tell them to accept other people and treat them well no matter their race, religion, gender, etc.

I'm Christian, but I also follow a lot of pagan/Wiccan practices and beliefs. I'm absolutely fascinated by Wicca and I totally agree with you. You can have certain religious beliefs but be Wiccan/pagan as well. Wicca is so pure, simple, and free. I feel more like myself in nature than in a church.

I had a spellbook I got online once and it had a pentagram on the cover. So my friends started getting anger and claiming they would burn it because it's "satanic." I was like trying to explain it, saying it's not an evil symbol, just with a lot of bad connotations. They didn't understand.

You need new friends, then. No one needs that kind of negativity in their life. You should be able to think for yourself and feel empowered by your beliefs. Not scared because of them. Remember, people can be cruel. They can be hurtful. They can lie, and cheat, and steal everything you have to your name. But one thing they can never take from you is your belief. Cut off the negativity and focus more on being happy.

I come from a Christian home (I consider myself Wiccan though, and am not out of the “broom closet”) and completely understand why a lot of people, mostly Christians, consider paganism/neopaganism to be a satanic religion. It says multiple times in the Bible (I actually think it’s one of the commandments) that God is the only god and we should not worship anyone or anything else, or hold anyone or anything higher than God. And obviously, anything that strays from what God says is clearly then influence of Satan (aka “The Deceiver”). Now, this is just what I have been taught my whole life, and may not be true for a lot of Christians.

Second; it's funny that this video came out today because I was just on tumblr last night after doing some research on different types of witches, and research on Wiccans, because I'm new to the practice, and I saw a lot of negative comments about Wiccans and how it's a "women based practice" and gives "stereotypes to females" because of the old sayings and terms etc. I'm glad you cleared some of the stuff I saw up.

These misconceptions are part of the reason I went into hiding with my Wiccan/pagan heritage... when I was a teen I was harshly judged and too young and uneducated to properly defend myself! This is wonderful ❤️

The main rule I have followed from I was a child is the "rule of three"... what you give out is returned thrice to thee. ( basically it's a description of karma, but also an expression of, if you want good things to happen and be around you, you have to work for it by putting good things out around you and treating others ( people, animals and the Earth) in the way that you would wish to be treated. That rule is my fundamental guide in this world.
I was raised as a Christian and still hold many of those beliefs, EXCEPT for being judgmental. I also do not believe in a satan character. I believe it was created as a cop-out for self-accountability. I believe in God and Jesus, but I don't label myself as a Christian or any other religion.
Amanda Fae same!! I've never been religious. I'm a very spiritual person. But I do believe that Jesus was here at one point and saved people from hardships. Religion is toxic in a lot of ways and they use fear mongering to convert people. I've met so many humble Christians but I've met a lot of hardcore extreme ones too.

I really liked this video! Personally, I am an agnostic atheist and was brought up christian. Wicca, paganism, witchcraft has always attracted me though. Nature is very important to me, and having celebrations that are centred around seasonal changes is wonderful. The more you teach about the sabbaths, the more I feel grounded in the present. Derealisation is something I experience quite often and it sucks, but taking time to thank the earth for the changing seasons helps me to slow down and feel real again.
i really don’t understand christians that hate wiccans. Im christian and i honestly love learning about other religions and other people’s beliefs. Everyone should be allowed to have their own beliefs, even if you don’t agree with them.

I had a book in my school bag once (i was 14) and was reading it one day when my RE teacher told me that she’d pray for me and that “if i carried on this dark path i would go to hell!” ....needless to say she got a very angry visit from my mother that evening! As a hindu witch, i'd like to point out that "karma" is something exclusive to Hindu and Hindu derived religions, such as Buddhism. Whilst its theory is similar to Wiccans' threefold law, it is not the same and the two terms cannot be used interchangeably xx

My maternal grandparents knew I had the Wiccan way in me and respected that, especially as I am a huge believer in that everything a person does comes back threefold. They saw how respectful and loving I am to Mother Earth & fellow humans. They saw how connected to the world I am, and at the heart of their catholic faith is love. We connected over the respect for our planet & our community. I'd go to church with them, and went through all of the major catholic milestones (apart from marriage) out of respect to my lineage. The cohesiveness was beautiful.

I'm Christian and I love watching your videos about Wicca ❤️ the fact that Christianity invented "satan" isn't actually accurate. The figure of Satan comes from other cultures that ended up being part of Christianity by the time the Roman Empire conquered Israel and brought lots of their beliefs to the people. Christians to differentiate themselves from the pagans, incarnated evil in pagan deities, so people would realise that "the right path" was to follow Christianity. As a Christian, I don't believe in Satan because of that. The Old Testament doesn't represent Satan as the incarnation of evilness or classifies Satan as the great enemy of God. Jesus as the Christ that was promised just said: Love God with all your heart and love others as you love yourself. I truly think Wicca practice the same principle. You spread goodness and kindness. I've learned a lot about your religion throughout your videos and realised the Church in general spreads so much hate and misconceptions about other religions. So, as a Christian, I'd like to say thank you for always trying to explain your religion with so much patience and kindness and let you know that we are not all the same (I can't speak for the whole Christian Church of course, but for myself)

In all reality the only reason christianity is real and followed is because people didnt like the paganism and wicca. Next time any of your friends mess with you about that just let them know that your religion is the only reason christmas, easter, etc is followed

CHARMED made Book of Shadows popular & made to look like a Wicca Bible. I'm on my 2nd BoS cos when we split up briefly my husband threw all my wicca stuff out. Due to my Granddaughters going through my stuff...even though they know they are not allowed ...I have to hide it all. When we went on holiday & my DiL was looking after my cats my Granddaughters decided to ruin my BoS I had restarted & scribbled in it.They are now 12 & 6 but I am slowly getting my altar back together cos they broke everything & my BoS was destroyed. If they come over now I lock all of it away.

I don't know what are some people talking about in the comments. I was raised as a Christian, my parents are still Christians but I have never experienced such a stupid attitude by them like making me believe in this religion. They are open minded. I'm not really into this belief anymore and they accep it but I'm so glad that I learnt how to be happy and love unconditionally. Not every Christian are way too strict or agressive. If they act like this than they don't really know what this religion should be based on. Love and accept each other. (P.s: sorry for my English)

I personally see witch as broad umbrella term, because people with different religions might classify themselves as a witch. Since I'm technically polytheist but also believe the deities to be one with nature so pantheist and mainly follow pagan practices, and some wicca ones, I think the simplest thing to call myself is a witch cuz I don't really fit either one of these more narrow terms but I need them to explain what my faith is exactly. I stop following the christian faith a while ago because their is too meany holes in the bible, and too much in fearing everything; however i do not have anything against that religion. I commented on someone's comment, and spoke about my family history. I come from an Irish Catholic family, therefore paganism was a huge part of my childhood. My maternal grandparents had a quiet respect for paganism & told me at a young age that I "had the touch." They recognized my acute awareness of the Earth, the animals around us, & the ocean, and they recognized my love for all living beings. I remember them telling me "you've got the touch" after seeing me going to the back of the garden and crouching down and talking to something. I vividly remember talking to what I understood to be fairies. My grandparents knew that without me saying any thing. Whether or not I was talking to actual fairies is beyond me. But, I was communicating with the universe and the energy around us. My grandparents also had a deep understanding that their Catholicism was built heavily around paganism. That's why they never argued my spirituality. They loved that I was putting good energy into the world. They loved that I was going about my life with kindness and love. They saw that my heart was good, and they never questioned my motives or choices. At the core of how we were all living was love. I'll always think fondly of them and frequently talk to their memory/spirits and thank them for allowing me to develop in my own way.

I was reading this encyclopedia on wicca and witch craft (my mom gave it to me) in school and my teacher was like," You need to put that devil book away" and literally I was just reading about the zodiacs and studying the symbols.

Wiccans do not believe in Satan, Satan is a Christian concept so if you do not believe in "God" you cannot believe in nor worship satan. We do worship the Triple Goddess & the Horned God BUT HE is not Satan. Wicca is more like Gaia in that we worship nature/ that the world is alive.
i told my atheist friend about christians taking the pagan holidays and bending them to fit their own needs or beliefs, but she doesn’t believe me and says that the christian’s holidays are their own and completely their own. but i mean,,,,easter is the biggest example of this. like the goddess that it was based off of had the rabbit as her familiar and now the rabbit is the face of the christian easter today🤷🏼♀️. and with christmas-do i really have to explain this one? i have absolutely nothing against christianity, anyone can believe what they want to believe, but it’s just pure fact that the christians based their holidays off of our Pagan ones.
feyre _ - people have known for years that Christians have plastered their holidays over other holidays. I never new about the rabbit familiar, and I’ll have to look into that more. But Christians (old time ones) years and years ago, put their own holidays over others so they could try to hide them, so everyone would be Christian. I’ve been Christian my whole life and am still in the process of converting to Wicca, so I’ve heard about some of the peculiar things Christians used to do.
So can Wiccan's be Christian too? As a Christian I'm very curious about Wicca but I also do not want to be opening "bad door" pleeease I'd love help from anyone who can!
Being Wiccan does not open a "bad door" unless you want to. Wicca is not meant for any type of "bad things" or any "demonic entities". It's the complete opposite, you should do more research! As a Wiccan, I can assure you that it's very interesting, and you learn new things everyday!

I literally never stated to know ANYTHING about satanism, I never said they worship Satan at all, I have no idea what it's about it. All I said was Cristian's invented satan which they did, obviously they didn't invent satanism and I never claimed they worshiped the devil at all, I'm defiantly no expert on what it's all about so take what I say with a pinch of salt! Harmony Nice to be fair, you are half right as there are two 'types' of satanism, one of which dose worship Satan. the other (which is the more popular of the two faiths) dose not and I'm fact doesn't worship any deities. Many that follow that faith (like two of my very good friends) actually prefer to see it as a life style/ philosophy as it dose not worship any deities. Their philosophies/ "rules" also seem semi similar as to that of Wicca where it's about not harming others e.c.t but there are somethings that are VERY different. For example the religion/philosophy was born out of trying to piss of Christians (hence the name) and their "rules" are rather brutal to ignorance, which I think is iffy as it seems to expect automatic knowledge rather than allowing space to be educated, which seems very different to Wicca.

Karupé oh trust me once I got the opportunity to move out, I left that household and I never plan on going back. I still love my mom and everything but I was sadly mistaken that she would understand and she never will. My boyfriend's parents are the same way...so I can't be open about it with anyone on either side of our families. The only ones who know are my older sister who is also Pagan but isn't open about it either, my 2nd cousin, my boyfriend and my coworkers. and if I have a family of my own I would probably have to hide it from my child so they don't tell their grandparents....

Im a Muslim too ... I am always interested about witches and Witchcraft.. Wicca.. etc.. I love the dark world and Nature spirit 😍 but trying not to pass the limits of my Religion
My husband is Muslim and as of now I'm agnostic. I grew up in a Christian house hold, but it didn't felt right as I got older. I love learning about new religions. It's crazy to realize if you just do a little digging you could find that there are so many misconceptions about Wicca. I mean to steal another religion's symbols and gods and make it evil in your religion is not only wrong but insane.
also just an addition for anyone interested, witch is a gender neutral term. you may see online that a male witch is a called a warlock or a wizard but these are not used in the community. wizard sounds too fantasy novel-y and warlock can actually be seen as an insult so it is not used. :)

Satanism isn't worshipping the devil. I've always seen it more as a state of mind/philosophy because it's not about worshipping a deity, but about respecting yourself and being confident in who you are. That is also what the satanic bible teaches, it's about all sorts of aspects about oneself and life in general and how to be confident and happy. The inverted pentagram isn't about the devil either. Like you said, the points represent the elements of water, earth, fire, air and spirit. With the tip pointing upwards it represents placing the spirit (aka deities) above all other elements. In Satanism, where they don't worship deities and place more importance on oneself, the pentagram is inverted, as the spirit isn't "above" the elements that make up the world.
Other than that, I completely agree with what you've said - practically all of these misconceptions come from Christians who want to get rid of Paganism by making people scared of it.

There are different types of Satanism but the most mainstream one is Laveyan Satanism. Laveyan Satanists do not believe in Satan at all. They practice self-worship and they follow a set of rules that increase their self love/awareness. The rules they follow also tell them to accept other people and treat them well no matter their race, religion, gender, etc.

I'm Christian, but I also follow a lot of pagan/Wiccan practices and beliefs. I'm absolutely fascinated by Wicca and I totally agree with you. You can have certain religious beliefs but be Wiccan/pagan as well. Wicca is so pure, simple, and free. I feel more like myself in nature than in a church.

I come from a Christian home (I consider myself Wiccan though, and am not out of the “broom closet”) and completely understand why a lot of people, mostly Christians, consider paganism/neopaganism to be a satanic religion. It says multiple times in the Bible (I actually think it’s one of the commandments) that God is the only god and we should not worship anyone or anything else, or hold anyone or anything higher than God. And obviously, anything that strays from what God says is clearly then influence of Satan (aka “The Deceiver”). Now, this is just what I have been taught my whole life, and may not be true for a lot of Christians.
First of all, I love your makeup. Second; it's funny that this video came out today because I was just on tumblr last night after doing some research on different types of witches, and research on Wiccans, because I'm new to the practice, and I saw a lot of negative comments about Wiccans and how it's a "women based practice" and gives "stereotypes to females" because of the old sayings and terms etc. I'm glad you cleared some of the stuff I saw up.

I love how inclusive Wicca is! I read a book a few years back about it but decided not to practice as I felt I needed more insight and information on other faiths before choosing, but ever since watching your videos I'm seriously considering reading up on it more
These misconceptions are part of the reason I went into hiding with my Wiccan/pagan heritage... when I was a teen I was harshly judged and too young and uneducated to properly defend myself! This is wonderful ❤️

The main rule I have followed from I was a child is the "rule of three"... what you give out is returned thrice to thee. ( basically it's a description of karma, but also an expression of, if you want good things to happen and be around you, you have to work for it by putting good things out around you and treating others ( people, animals and the Earth) in the way that you would wish to be treated. That rule is my fundamental guide in this world.

I was raised as a Christian and still hold many of those beliefs, EXCEPT for being judgmental. I also do not believe in a satan character. I believe it was created as a cop-out for self-accountability. I believe in God and Jesus, but I don't label myself as a Christian or any other religion.
Amanda Fae same!! I've never been religious. I'm a very spiritual person. But I do believe that Jesus was here at one point and saved people from hardships. Religion is toxic in a lot of ways and they use fear mongering to convert people. I've met so many humble Christians but I've met a lot of hardcore extreme ones too.

I really liked this video! Personally, I am an agnostic atheist and was brought up christian. Wicca, paganism, witchcraft has always attracted me though. Nature is very important to me, and having celebrations that are centred around seasonal changes is wonderful. The more you teach about the sabbaths, the more I feel grounded in the present. Derealisation is something I experience quite often and it sucks, but taking time to thank the earth for the changing seasons helps me to slow down and feel real again.

As a hindu witch, i'd like to point out that "karma" is something exclusive to Hindu and Hindu derived religions, such as Buddhism. Whilst its theory is similar to Wiccans' threefold law, it is not the same and the two terms cannot be used interchangeably xx

My maternal grandparents knew I had the Wiccan way in me and respected that, especially as I am a huge believer in that everything a person does comes back threefold. They saw how respectful and loving I am to Mother Earth & fellow humans. They saw how connected to the world I am, and at the heart of their catholic faith is love. We connected over the respect for our planet & our community. I'd go to church with them, and went through all of the major catholic milestones (apart from marriage) out of respect to my lineage. I'm Christian and I love watching your videos about Wicca ❤️ the fact that Christianity invented "satan" isn't actually accurate. The figure of Satan comes from other cultures that ended up being part of Christianity by the time the Roman Empire conquered Israel and brought lots of their beliefs to the people. Christians to differentiate themselves from the pagans, incarnated evil in pagan deities, so people would realise that "the right path" was to follow Christianity. As a Christian, I don't believe in Satan because of that. The Old Testament doesn't represent Satan as the incarnation of evilness or classifies Satan as the great enemy of God. Jesus as the Christ that was promised just said: Love God with all your heart and love others as you love yourself. I truly think Wicca practice the same principle. You spread goodness and kindness. I've learned a lot about your religion throughout your videos and realised the Church in general spreads so much hate and misconceptions about other religions. So, as a Christian, I'd like to say thank you for always trying to explain your religion with so much patience and kindness and let you know that we are not all the same (I can't speak for the whole Christian Church of course, but for myself)

I'm on my 2nd BoS cos when we split up briefly my husband threw all my wicca stuff out. Due to my Granddaughters going through my stuff...even though they know they are not allowed ...I have to hide it all. When we went on holiday & my DiL was looking after my cats my Granddaughters decided to ruin my BoS I had restarted & scribbled in it.They are now 12 & 6 but I am slowly getting my altar back together cos they broke everything & my BoS was destroyed. If they come over now I lock all of it away.

I don't know what are some people talking about in the comments. I was raised as a Christian, my parents are still Christians but I have never experienced such a stupid attitude by them like making me believe in this religion.
They are open minded. I'm not really into this belief anymore and they accep it but I'm so glad that I learnt how to be happy and love unconditionally.
Not every Christian are way too strict or agressive. If they act like this than they don't really know what this religion should be based on.
Love and accept each other.

I personally see witch as broad umbrella term, because people with different religions might classify themselves as a witch. Since I'm technically polytheist but also believe the deities to be one with nature so pantheist and mainly follow pagan practices, and some wicca ones, I think the simplest thing to call myself is a witch cuz I don't really fit either one of these more narrow terms but I need them to explain what my faith is exactly.

I stop following the christian faith a while ago because their is too meany holes in the bible, and too much in fearing everything; however i do not have anything against that religion. Being a young Christianity taught me to fear all that paganism had to offer, this cleared a lot of it up for me.I have not found my nitch in a "faith", I do however believe that their are thing out their ( call it what you may). I do believe in karma and the energy

I commented on someone's comment, and spoke about my family history.
I come from an Irish Catholic family, therefore paganism was a huge part of my childhood. My maternal grandparents had a quiet respect for paganism & told me at a young age that I "had the touch." They recognized my acute awareness of the Earth, the animals around us, & the ocean, and they recognized my love for all living beings. I remember them telling me "you've got the touch" after seeing me going to the back of the garden and crouching down and talking to something. I vividly remember talking to what I understood to be fairies. My grandparents knew that without me saying any thing. Whether or not I was talking to actual fairies is beyond me. But, I was communicating with the universe and the energy around us.
My grandparents also had a deep understanding that their Catholicism was built heavily around paganism. That's why they never argued my spirituality. They loved that I was putting good energy into the world. They loved that I was going about my life with kindness and love. They saw that my heart was good, and they never questioned my motives or choices. At the core of how we were all living was love.
I'll always think fondly of them and frequently talk to their memory/spirits and thank them for allowing me to develop in my own way.

I was reading this encyclopedia on wicca and witch craft (my mom gave it to me) in school and my teacher was like," You need to put that devil book away" and literally I was just reading about the zodiacs and studying the symbols.

As a Christian woman I personally have absolutely no negative thoughts or feelings towards Wicca, however, I do know so many Christians who don't have anything good to say about Wiccans and do infact speak of Wiccans in the same manner as someone with Satanic beliefs. I've always heard so many contradictive things regarding Wiccans and Wicca practices as well as the meanings behind common symbols and I appreciate you clearing much of that up ! Love your videos !
Wiccans do not believe in Satan, Satan is a Christian concept so if you do not believe in "God" you cannot believe in nor worship satan. We do worship the Triple Goddess & the Horned God BUT HE is not Satan.
Wicca is more like Gaia in that we worship nature/ that the world is alive.

i told my atheist friend about christians taking the pagan holidays and bending them to fit their own needs or beliefs, but she doesn’t believe me and says that the christian’s holidays are their own and completely their own. but i mean,,,,easter is the biggest example of this. like the goddess that it was based off of had the rabbit as her familiar and now the rabbit is the face of the christian easter today🤷🏼♀️. and with christmas-do i really have to explain this one? i have absolutely nothing against christianity, anyone can believe what they want to believe, but it’s just pure fact that the christians based their holidays off of our Pagan ones.
feyre _ - people have known for years that Christians have plastered their holidays over other holidays. I never new about the rabbit familiar, and I’ll have to look into that more. But Christians (old time ones) years and years ago, put their own holidays over others so they could try to hide them, so everyone would be Christian. I’ve been Christian my whole life and am still in the process of converting to Wicca, so I’ve heard about some of the peculiar things Christians used to do.

Being Wiccan does not open a "bad door" unless you want to. Wicca is not meant for any type of "bad things" or any "demonic entities". It's the complete opposite, you should do more research! As a Wiccan, I can assure you that it's very interesting, and you learn new things everyday!
