I recently got the Boardman's after trying several shoes including Specialized, Bont, Fizik, Shimano and Sidi. The Boardman's felt the most comfortable, by a good margin and equal to shoes that were up to three times the price. I'm delighted I put the brand snobbery aside
I had Lake shoes/Giro/Louis Garneau/nortwave and time. All getting my under feet after a couples hours very hurting… i bought the EKOÏ R8 LIGHT and they are the more comfortable shoes I have ever had!!! My feet never hurt even after an 6 to 8 hours😀
I find most far too narrow. Finally got some Lakes that are wide. And what a difference! Had a pait of shimanos and needed them almost two sizes larger to get my wide feet into.
I have a broad foot. Tried a few manufacturers. I now use Lake, they have different width fittings and I love them, so comfortable. I went to a local supplier and tried on before buying. It’s the only way. I used RXM custom north of Derby. Great personal service.
You mention the s works boa dial doesn't pop out to release. Good as it's clockwise/anticlockwise movement makes micro adjustment possible whilst riding. Best mechanism yet. Doing away with the useless velcro front strap is another. Well done Specialized.
My favorite shoes are my Giro Empires - got a new pair to replace the previous model, tried Fizik's and didnt get on with the fit, would like to try the shimano's one day
The Shimano fit is similar to the Giro fit at least in my size 46.5. Every foot is different so a TH-cam shoe review is a bit difficult to get much information of use.
good fit for wider foot. i like mine but sole cracked and please bear in mind you cant use bont with other shoes on same bike.. sole thickness is significantly different, gotta adjust seat height
Interesting but I won’t fit brands like Fizik, Sidi due to my wider feet. I found Shimano a really good fit across most of their range and wonder why more brands don’t do more but also wonder why the Sphyres aren’t on your list. Also Velokicks have some really good offerings from a price vs performance perspective.
We were surprised by the width of the latest Fiziks as we’d agree historically they’ve had a reputation for being narrow so might be worth another go if you can find some to try on. The sphyres did get an excellent review from us, we just felt that the rc7’s offered nearly all the performance for a lot lot less. We will try and get some velo kicks to review!
I have the fiziks and have found them very comfortable except for the tongue, which is very stiff and has no padding creating hot spots on the tops of my feet. I stuck some sticky foam to the inside of the tongue which helps but only stays on for a few months. Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone have a more permanent solution?
Northwave Mistral Plus are very comfy and Northwave have conversion kits to make them natively support Speedplay pedals. Also, they're quite affordable. What happened to your video equipment? Weird to see such a drop in image quality.
Suplest Road Pro are the best shoes ive ever worn, hardly anyone ever mentions them . . .admittedly pricey, but if theyre good enough for Cancellara theyre good enough for me.
We’ve reviewed quite a few sets and they’ve often done well! Did you notice the Suplest shoes on the table? The high inner arch won’t suit anyone but certainly very nice shoes!
@@roadcc yeah some of the MAAP X Suplest ones are quite nice, cool colourways. Haha yeah ive been described as a physiological oddity before now...might have been due to my high inner arches, probably something else entirely tho!! 🙂
I bought a pair of Shimano RC 702's recently to "upgrade" from my 701's. Even though they are the same 43E size, they are tighter around the mid foot which can lead to discomfort after an hour. I've ridden about 2,000ks in them and they haven't stretched. The design of the tongue of the shoe is different, in that it doesn't have a separate tongue - just the side of the shoe that wraps to form the tongue, so getting the shoes on isn't as easy. I've had a few Shimano 43E shoes, and these new ones are a thorough disappointment for me. They look flash but are uncomfortable. For long rides, I now use my 701's. Might go and explore Lake shoes, as many comments say they are a good choice.
Surprised to didn't review Shimanos top shoe - the SHIMANO S-PHYRE RC9 (RC903).... I will...they are superb !! and will transform your ride.....although I had to get the larger size as they are quite a narrow fit.
RC7s are ideal..I think I paid $280 and i actually should pick up a second pair 30 plus years on the road…had two pairs of Nike prior to the Shimanos…the toe box was wide on the Nikes and likewise on the RC7s Fiziks are pricey…my mountain shoes from them (Ventos) were $300 plus

Good choice! They were certainly a pleasant surprise

Another plus for Lake, very wide range of sizes and models to suit different foot shapes. Quality material too!!

Do like the S Works. They’re very “non-Italian” in the width department 😃

Best brand and shoes for me are Lake brilliant I own a few pairs all excellent. . 😊🚴🏻😃🥇Pete
Just bought the bont riot + for $140. Absolutely by far the best designed shoe that I've tried yet especially if you need a wide toe box

@davidgoon1978 thanks for the info! I'll have to schedule another bike fit

Sidi only for me, made in Italy quality.
I have black Wire 2 and Fluo Yellow Genius 10’s
White is WAY too trendy.

Please review Nimbl Ultimate … I’m currently using this shoe … it’s much lighter & better than my Bony VayporS.
We’ve dropped them an email, hoping to have some to review soon 😀
Great !! lots of pro rider using Nimbl shoes …. Jumbo Visma
in what department Nimbl are better than VayporS?
I’ve been using sidi wire 2 it’s good for racing , sidi qenius 10 good for endurance , but my rc7 shimano does it all 😮
Lake!
Lake, the best.

Sorry, normal service will be resumed next time!
I've Fizik Stabilita Carbon, in size 8 uk... Love them but they are so narrow... 🥺🥺🥺 Cant seem to break them in.
Love the channel but the video quality needs to step up big time. appreciate the review on multiple footwear options, thanks!
I need wider shoes and didn't know about Bondt
I am leaning toward specialized because the front boia doesn’t tighten the entire toe box. My wife shamino. Pinched my toe.
Have you done a review of best shoes for wide feet?
missed out sidi, lake mavic

you have the wrong size if they're too tight. They have a wide version.
Cant beat Lake especially if you have wide feet.
What’s the yellow shoe?
Love my Giro Empires
After 15 years my specialized body geometry carbon finally gave up. I'm guessing things have moved on.
Bontrager XXX is missing
Jamie, all jokes aside, I almost did NOT recognize you with that pro peloton mustache!
But is a moustache more aero? 😉
@@roadcc Magnus Cort says yes!
Need the lightest
I have sidi shoes. Wide fit. Great if you want a shoe that you can buy spare parts for. and feel like they will last forever

The adjustable arch supports look nice
Bontrager Inform SL . . . just imagine a pair of sock on steroids!
Sidi????
Doesn’t matter who scores the highest, they never make 15-16 inches
Bro u forgot shimano Rc3 for us peasants 😂
Video resolution is so poor, even third-world countries are raising funds for assistance.
No sidi hum...
No Sphyre. No interest
