I find it far too snarky, even racist. The Indians did not live there year-round, but later, whites did. They were there for mining and borax recovery. And then there was Death Valley Scotty. In 1985, I was given special permission to visit a former homestead by a spring not far from Furnace Creek. It had 3,000 hunting blinds made of piled-up rocks that the Shoshone used for ambushing mountain sheep as they came down from the heights to get water. Death Valley is nice in the winter, but hell in the summer. I don't believe any "Native American" ever transvered the valley floor in the summer. Why should they have?

My cousins husband is a professional Story Teller. He is hired by schools, corporations, and park services mostly. He studies, investigates, and local areas and the derives a story, usually an hour to 2 hours long depending on the story and amount of data found. I think you have that quality to tell great stories thru TH-cam. Great job! and keep it up missy.

A couple of years ago on a Jeep trip around Death Valley we went over "Rogers" pass. At the top of the pass is a metal sign describing this trip. Amazing to be at a 7,160 ft. pass that Rogers and Manly passed through on foot. I later read the book "Death Valley in 49". Amazing story of courage and survival.

For thousands of years there was virtually no technological progress all the way to the western migration in the US. Man still traveled no faster than a horse as he had done for centuries. But that all rapidly changed with the invention of the steam engine followed quickly by the internal combustion engine, electricity, and the industrial revolution.. An amazing transformation in life occurred in the following years with airplanes and the interstate highway system which makes travel today easy as can be. If those poor people in the wagon trains could see it now they’d be stunned beyond belief.

I knew about this story. I read about it originally in a super good book called Men To Match My Mountains by Erving Stone. I highly recommend that book. Sarah Jane, this is by far your best video. If you can figure out a way to do more of these historical videos, and edit and produce it as well as you did this one, you are going to rise to the top of TH-camrs. You really scripted this well, and you stayed on script (no wandering off in other brain excursions). Thank you for this video. It's really good, and I'm going to watch it again. I'm going to forward this video to a fair number of people. 5 stars!

As a kid western movies were the staple of entertainment...Roy Rodgers, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, John Wayne for a few. There were black white movies of the pioneers crossing Death Valley , made about 1940... to ...1950.... very accurate hardships ...not suitable for today's audience. Early 50 's the was a TV series called " Death Valley Days" about a 20 mule team that pulled a Borax wagon from the mine to many adventures with the "Old Ranger" who maybe was Walter Brennan. Lots of history to see out there! This was a fantastic historical video...very excellent...! The views were stunning too ! Thanks !
