Heartbreaker, One Of A Kind, CrayOn & Coup D'etat are very popular back in the days. The views are less becuase this came out when internet was expensive & slow. Smart phones, gadgets speeds are slow & Streaming wasn't an option. We download the song & play them offline.
his discography is huge. Man, it's been so so long since the last time I listened to Kpop, I feel so nostalgic watching this. Before being introduced to vocaloid and then interested in Japanese music, I was a fan of BigBang (since Lies until now). Their music makes up over 90% of my kpop playlist. And GD is my 2nd favorite after T.O.P. Glad that you made this. Hope you'll discover about other members of BigBang too.

Sometimes I feel like for every Kpop era, GD has a representative song. He doesn’t seem to fall behind especially in terms of impact.
Heartbreaker sounds familiar because it sounds a bit like Flo-rida's Right Round. The same styling and sounds. Sony actually sent a letter to YG suggesting plagarism, but EMI who actually control the rights to Right Round was like "Nah, we don't hear it." G-dragon actually released a version of Heartbreaker with Flo-rida featuring on it. They've actually performed it together at G-Dragon's concerts in the states. I remember the controversy from back in the day, but like you said there was ALOT of this same style being used at the time.

End of 2009, the time I discovered the one and only GDragon! I didn't even know kpop existed. Instantly became obsessed with GD and consequentially also BigBang 👑 But GD he is just KING.
Daesung goes by the name D-Lite for his solo career in Japan. He has 3 Japanese albam. He is the most popular Bigbang member in Japan exceeding even GDragon.
GD is one of a kind. He is the king and legend of K-pop and the idol of the idols. Period.

i always admire the way he lead the group, he knows his members so well, he knows their vocal n their character also so proud with them. when i see them doing live performance GD was like "let me introduce u my team my man my friend my fam" so even GD is everything but he still part of Bigbang n to me he never shining brightly when he's with BigBang i mean he blend very well with them bc in my opinion each member of bigbang already have this strong dif character in personality n vocals like i clearly can tell who is who singing. they're share the same energy with dif vibe, style, n personality 💛 even when u check out their solo song, the song of each member will sound so dif follow their vocal n character. I don't even have bias in Bigbang, they remind me of transformers 😅. if BigBang is a car i will set GD as a modified low rider car, TOP as gorgeous Rolls Royce, TAEYANG as a sport car (Bugatti, Lamborghini), DAESUNG as a sport wrangler Jeeb, n SEUNGRI as a ordinary fam car bc he has the softest vocal in Bigbang 😅🤣.
GD also once held a PEACEMINUSONE Gallery and some of the costumes painting and a manequin that featured in his music video or in Bigbang are in it (like the Mask in gold from one of a kind the Haculla painting which seen in Coup D'etat and more).

The bang bang bang here might very well be a reference to Bangx3 the song, we just didn't know it yet back then. Hehe. He's done it before. In Bigbang's MAMA 2013 performance he did a little snipped of a never before heard song before his Crooked solo and it turned out to be the bridge of Sober that was released in 2015. :D

Coup D’etat will forever be one of my favourite songs ever released, it’s ageless and the meaning behind it too. G-Dragon has always been ahead of his time and he surely always will. Can’t wait for the new music from him when he’ll be comfortable enough to release stuff again

Just saying, GD and Bigbang's discography, including each of the member's solos, is timeless since I guess 2009-10. Earlier than 09-ish the songs would like they fit in that era. 09 onwards, they just sound ahead of their time and their songs STILL sound modern and fitting to this day. They don't sound old, at least for me.
My personal favorite is Missing You and I just love the Kwon Jiyong album

Songs he composed for his group are more “pop”. His own songs are more experimental or “full of character”. However, he also included “pop” songs in his album, especially those collaborated with other singers, such as gossip man, missing you, without you. Also, these songs are my favorite (more pop): she’s gone, window, bullshit, and all the songs in GD&TOP album.

I love Bigbang. GD is my ultimate bias. Daesung has solo songs but he was more active as a solo artist in Japan. Taeyang and Seungri have great discography too. T.O.P. has the fewest solos. I miss Bigbang.

Coup D’ Etat in my opinion is absolutely iconic. A lot of people who see and hear it don’t grasp the message/meaning especially if they don’t know the history of BigBang/GDragon. Been a V.I.P since 2008 and seeing this video was hard hitting for sure.
30:50 If you're wondering why BIGBANG and GD's MVs don't have that much of views compared to KPop groups nowadays aside from the fact that internet and YT wasn't a big thing for some of us around that time, YT views ain't that much of a big deal for us older kpop stans. And the biggest reason why the MV views aren't as high is because WE VIPS CAMP UNDER THE LIVE PERFORMANCES AND NOT ON THE MUSIC VIDEOS 🤣 BIGBANG does live performances like no other. I swear to you, it's a whole different experience.

At first he is sitting in a booth, looking annoyed, waiting to sell tickets while ppl try to force their way thru. That's his view on his life as a celebrity. Sure he is cooking money but the media is blind, doesn't see the real him. Everyone takes shots at him. His first solo album at first got a plagiarism controversy, it was a huge scandal, he was harassed for years, there was graffiti on the streets with insults towards him and they went as far as to make a petition for him to commit suicide. The album's promo included a white mask modeled after his face. So at the end we can see that Heartbreaker mask (his younger self) cry black tears and from those tears, from that pain, a dark creature is born, one that is cynical and snarling. But he doesn't remain like this, he sheds his skin, throws that stone and at the end emerges as the lider of the revolution.»

Do you know what is SO COOL?? In an interview GD said he made this song after watching one of the new Batman movies from the line "Why so serious" from the Joker. In the first few shots of the MV he is wearing Batman earrings!! Nice little Easter egg there!! (and I'm said to admit I have only just noticed it after so many years hahaha)
