I was fighting with the sun, confusion, tears and occasional thirst watching them - what happens to you? EXTRA Reactions on Patreon - www.patreon.com/Seoulconnection Join my discord @discord.gg/bnpsTxdeH4
theyre the first group (well specifically gdragon made it happen) that made a lightstick kpop fans used to just use balloons fans are called VIPs and the lightstick is a 👑 befitting for the OG kings of kpop 💛
you might also want to react to taeyangs solo songs eyes, nose, lips ringa linga wake me up darling look at me gdragon solo songs crooked untitled 2014 one of a kind who you that xx - has jennie in the mv
Yes you guessed it right they are the rebellious group in Kpop who are never abided by the rules..They are the trailblazers in Kpop..they literally walked so others could run..They produce their songs themselves and they were also the first idol group to produce their songs..they’ve influenced lots of younger generation Kpop idols..So they are known as idol of idols.
The part where Parris Goebel is in chain is actually not a reference to enslavement or smth like that. If you notice the lyrics are talking about the night's watchmen, so Parris is actually his "guardian" (the dog shown is also the guardian dog). And the chain is actually also connected to GD's neck, so in a way, they're both "chained" to each other.
They write all their songs by themselves. G-Dragon produces their songs, he's a musical genius and the King of Kpop. They worked their asses off with lots of talent for 16 years to be crowned Kings of Kpop. And Bigbang, they're just built DIFFERENT.
I smiled (a little bittersweet smile) when you've said that Daesung has the most "typical idol look", because my man was getting shit all of his career for not fitting into the beauty standard of an idol. He used to cover half of his face with long hair, because of that.. I'm actually glad your reaction to him was like this. I've never understood the hate towards idols' looks. Like, haters should look in the mirror first, before judging someone else..
It's so unreal to me lmao like, middle school me was online on forums and LiveJournal threads fighting for my life defending my bias Daesung he has the model look, the unique facial features that makes him so handsome 😭 to now hear that he has the most typical idol look and being called handsome is so validating. He broke the mold with his charisma, talent, and even growing to love himself. I find him mesmerizing even 16 years later. It really is bittersweet haha. And haters love to project onto idols, online anonymity makes people bold 😒
heres the thing. They DO write, produce, etc. all of their shits, not only they do, but theyre the one who started it. Thats why all of their shits got a meaning. behind it and everythings perfect from flows to the sound of em singing. and probably thats why their mv barely had some choreography, because.. they got something to say and they want us to listen.
They have always said that they will make music that's important to the. And make the public like it, rather than make something that the public will like. They are true artists through and through. Watch the MADE movie. You will see how dedicated they are.
G dragon did all of these. He produce some of Bigbangs music and composed some of their songs. He is a true artist. All of these can be credited to him.
I'm so happy. You're finally hearing the voices of the idols of the idols in kpop. They're the trendsetter. The original badass boss, the owner of iconic looks and concept and so on. Thank you very much.
The instant insightful and spot on instinct that you had seeing G-Dragon is truly impressive. Because what you saw and got from it is 100% correct, his influence on the k-pop genre is everything you saw and said, he commands attention, starts trends and people are intimidated by him.
12:58 so that is Taeyang he is actually the first member to settle down. He is happily married and he recently became a dad. He is also very religious so yeah that is kinda opposite to his appearance 😂
Wow I can't believe you're finally reacting BIGBANG I wish I could tell you everything about them bc there IS SO MUCH, like they are pioneers of many things, i hope you get into them and get to know their history bc at the end you won't become their stan, they'll just become your home...
The part that really got to me was when TOP said that he will be better and when he said "For Life". I remember hearing the news that he tried to take his life and now hearing this from him feels like a closure to that part of his life. I am so happy that he is in a good place now. I hope he will continue to heal and be a better version of himself.
i am so happy you decided to dig into the older generation kpop idols. BIGBANG LITERALLY WALKED, SO THE IDOLS OF TODAY CAN RUN! I usually cringe when newer fans talk about 'paving the way', but if there was one group that actually did that, it would be BIGBANG. fight me.
So context is really helpful when it comes to BigBang. They are an earlier idol group, so a lot of the things that are more “standard” now started with them at some point in their careers. Having a lightstick wasn’t something that idol groups had from like barely after debut back then as they do now. They already were the kings by the time they debuted the crown lightstick tbh. Also, yes, Taeyang (the one who is often shirtless) does have his own solo music- and it’s GREAT. He’s actually what got me to finally listen to kpop in Korean back in 2009 (only listened to BoA and Se7en’s English releases until listening to Taeyang) and then started listening to BigBang and 2NE1 after that and never stopped listening to kpop since. If/when you check out his solo work, you won’t regret it! (Also, Taeyang is very open about his Christian faith, so I wasn’t at all surprised to see that verse there!)
Its funny in 24:27 with Bang Bang Bang you mentioned that it sounds like standard K-pop about the contrast in certain points. Guess who started this song structure, the sudden change in beat etc that until now kpop groups still emulate and follow? Yup Bigbang
@@Yetti. You should have checked out the Loser MV. It's intense and so powerful. Also please check out these live performances and MVs. Thank you. 1. They are the OGs. They actually started the lightstick in kpop. Gdragon designed it. Taeyang is may fave too, topless guy. He has a lot of good solo songs. A lot of kpop groups set them as their idol. Their live shows are epic. Better than the MVs.
So true, their live performances are way more entertaining and infectious than their MVs. That's why we Vips are thirst to attend their concerts no matter what !!!
“Why does he not wear shirts” LMAO. I JUST SPAT MY WATER. TAEYANG WAS ALWAYS LIKE THAT 🤣 even if he’s wearing one, you better expect him to tear it up at some point in every concert. Lmao. This is gold
As a fan of theirs for YEARS, it is amazing to see how people reacting to them for the first time could feel the same things we do. Like it is amazing experiencing that "discovery" all over again, like uncovering a valuable treasure, something truly one of a kind. They started the lightsticks. They normalised kpop idols producing their own music. They are one of the few kpop idols globally recognised as true artists in the industry because of the stigma of idols being "manufactured" by companies. All of them have really successful solo careers as well; in between group promos, they often can stand on their own. GD, the one you mentioned as being very "individualistic" is one of the biggest influences in kpop. He kinda produced majority of their songs and is regarded as a genius by many industry professionals because of the way he writes his lyrics and composes his songs. Taeyang, who I think is your fave, has amazing solo projects that are really popular as well. They have all been through a LOT as a group and as individuals, but personally, it doesn't detract from the impact they made on the industry. Their songs are still amazing and they have proven that they are still capable of producing amazing tracks. Many of us felt like Still Life sounded more like a farewell. And a lot of the investors did too and sold their stocks lol. YG had to come out with a statement to reassure the investors that it isn't the end of Big Bang. Them all having their individual sets in this MV must just mean that they will continue with their solo projects for now, and eventually, maybe after the 4 seasons pass, return as a full group again. You really need to listen to more of their songs. They have such range. From party bangers to soulful ballads. They can do it all. Thank you for letting relive the discovery of Big Bang. Thank you for adding so much insight, especially the part on the bible verse!
“We don’t get lyrics like this” yasss! Bigbang songs are so relatable and resonates that’s why I love them so much! Usually GD and T.O.P write their songs. Also, all members have solo stuff. Please check them all! 😍 From BP to BB I love your reactions!
Actually Bigbang was the first group to introduce fandom lightsticks. GD designed the first light stick ever for VIPs (fandom) to distinguish their fans in a crowd. Enjoyed your reaction!
21:49 "IS IT THE SAME GUY who doesn't wear shirts, and now he got his friends to show up without the shirts as well" 27:49 "WEAR CLOTHES!!!" 27:54 "two of them now" I AM DYING. OMG I CANT STOP LAUGHING!!! I AM LITERALLY DEAD
You're very insightful and I really enjoyed your interpretations of the different songs and their meanings. I hope you'll do more reactions to them, I'm curious what your insights will be into their discography. You should check out Taeyang's Eyes, Nose, Lips. Go into it knowing he wrote it after a fight with his first and only true love. Finally, you were hit by GDragon's "Medusa stare". He's been in the business since he was 3 years old. He writes, produces, sings, raps, designs fashion, paints, directs, choreographs, and is a genius. Long story short. Please check out his solo stuff especially Coup D'etat. Thanks for your reaction and the explanation of the Psalm, as a non-Christan I didn't get the context.
Thank you so much for reacting to them! I’ve honestly been waiting for your reaction lol. I genuinely enjoyed this reaction but I just wanna say that they’re not your textbook definition of a kpop BG and I’m sure you already gathered that from these MVs. They have built a reputation for themselves, people either love them or hate them. They have a lot of rumours surrounds them as well but please don’t give into the blind hate peoples have for them. I hope you give them a chance and decide the good or bad yourself. One thing is certain, they’re crazy talented and despite everything, they’re genuinely good people who you won’t ever regret stanning :)
😭😭😭😭 How come you just discovered about them but you seems to understand their stories. I enjoying your reaction to them and for Still Life, i cried 😭 it feels related
As you can see by the comments, BigBang is a group the warrants a closer look and more time spent on checking out their extensive discography. They are an OG group -- who debuted in 2006 -- that all other Kpop groups look up to and they are one of the groups that EVERYONE respects. They are one of the founders that made Kpop an international success. BigBang are the leaders of K-hip-hop and one of the most successful Kpop groups of their time. They are the group that made YG Entertainment one of the big three entertainment companies alongside SM and JYP. BigBang literally made YG what it is today. G-Dragon, the group's leader, is the main producer and songwriter of almost all of BigBang's songs and he is considered a music genius. A lot of the times the English translations of their songs don't make a lot of sense because GD is a poet and he is known for his double and triple metaphors with words and phrases, and the lyrics only really make sense if you understand the play on words he is using within the Korean language. For example, their Made album series, which all of these songs are part of has a theme of the fact that they are Made Men which means they rule the world, are rich with money and fame and they take no prisoners, etc. while also being a social commentary on life in general and the things they have struggled with over the years. In "Bang Bang Bang": > The guy without the shirt standing on the van is Taeyang, vocalist and main dancer. > The cowboy and the astronaut are the same guy who's name is T.O.P., main rapper. > The guy in the sand is Sungri, maknae and lead vocalist. > The guy with the red hair is the leader and King of all Kings named G-Dragon, who is the songwriter and a main rapper, etc. (Pretty much the guy all Kpop rappers and everyone in the industry looks up to.) > The guy with his hair covering his eyes is Daesung, main vocal. The female dancer GD is tethered to on the leash in "Bang Bang Bang" is Parris Goebel who is from New Zealand and she is the choreographer for this song, and pretty much the majority of BigBang's songs. She is known as "BigBang's choreographer". If you haven't yet, you should also check out the MVs for "Loser," and "Let's Not Fall in Love," the story in the MVs will help explain the songs in more detail. For example, "Let's Not Fall in Love" is actually a love song about just seeing where life takes you and falling in love without even trying, etc. BigBang are known for pushing boundaries and not caring about shocking people. They have a raw sense of humor and you will see in their MVs such as "Bae Bae," "Loser" and "Zutter," for example, that their videos and songs are more adult than the average Kpop group. If you think their MVs are hype, just wait until you see them perform "Fantastic Baby" and "Bang Bang Bang" live, they are just as mind blowing, if not more, live than they are in their MVs, and they have just as many or more people on stage with them in their live performances as they do in the MVs. "Still Life" is their newest song that was just released, their first comeback in almost 4 years. The first time they came back as a group since being discharged and going through several major life changing events. It's a new chapter in all of their lives. Taeyang got married right before he enlisted and his wife and him just had a baby boy in December, so the group dynamic is changing and evolving just like the ever changing seasons. In the MV each of the members represent a different season. I see "Still Life" as a continuation of the theme within their previous comeback "Flower Road" from 2018, which was a final farewell before they took a long hiatus to allow the members to all serve in the military. It was released after T.O.P had already enlisted and right before G-Dragon and Daesung enlisted. Although we are excited that they finally made a comeback, if you pay attention to the lyrics in "Still Life" it's almost as if this is actually a goodbye song. They fulfilled their promise to VIPs that they would greet us again after they were discharged, but does that mean they will continue as a group? We just have to wait and see.
Flower Road came out the same day as Daesung enlisted. Youngbae enlisted the day before and Ji enlisted a few months before in late February 2018 and of course TOP enlisted in 2017 ✌️
BigBang and 2ne1 introduced kpop to me. They we're not called as the Kings and Queens of Kpop for no reason. You must watch both of their iconic performances in MAMA 2015 that made a history. Or maybe a BigBang's performance in SBS gayo 2016. Those are so powerful 🔥
Dont forget Melon Music Awards 2015. They sing 5 songs, also won best artist of the year in the end. Capturing all aspect of Bigbang performance. The atmosphere and crowds are louder than MAMA performance. Such an underrated performance.
Omg finally someone who reads into their music videos. Fantastic Baby was about the Korean broadcasting censorship and how it inhibits creativity. I'm sure I'll edit this as I continue watching this lol I've been with them since 2010 I'm so happy you're reacting to them
1. Bigbang is the first group to start writing and producing their own music. After the songs such as "Lies", "Last Farewell", "Haru Haru" written and composed by Gdragon turned out huge hits; agencies started giving their idols chance to write their songs. 2. Bigbang is the first one to have official lightstick. G-Dragon designed it. Since then all kpop groups and agencies followed it and now every fandom has their own lightstick. 3. T.O.P is the first underground rapper turned idol. T.O.P was well-known for his stage name as “T.E.M.P.O” as a famous underground rapper. G-Dragon contacted T.O.P and took him to YG audition. 4. Bigbang is the first boy group to dye their hair bright unusual colors like pink, blue, neon green, orange. 5. Bigbang is the first group that members have solo music careers without disbanding. 6. First kpop idol groupto collaberate with western artist. G-Dragon's collaboration with Flo Rida back in 2009. 7. First kpop group to win an international award. In 2011, they won MTV EMA. They beat Britney Spears that day.
Absolutely DIED at the isolated “AHH!” At the beginning of bang bang bang😂😂 I highly recommend watching internetsnathan’s video on bigbang. He goes into their start, specifically GD and talks about the brilliance behind the MADE album just to learn a little more about them! Yes they particularly GD are involved in their songwriting/production
your interpretation of STILL LIFE is so on point. taeyang truly is on a boat conquering new things as a new dad. TOP is on the moon - on different land. He just left YG. We don't know how long he'll be promoting with Bigbang. The emphasis on them being only 4 is pertaining to the member that they loss.
The one you said improved his voice is Daesung and he has always had a magnificent voice ! Check out "anymore" and you'll see he's always been a top tier vocalists
The MADE album was about their growth as artists. If there’s one thing they don’t care for, it is being considered idols. They are boundary-pushers and trendsetters. MADE is a play on made men - gangsters who have reached the next level and are set for life. BB has always being scrutinized for everything because they’ve never really fit the idol mold - they have been caught smoking, caught with girls, car accidents, etc. For MADE, they were free to do what they wanted and they did. It’s full of different genres and topics with songs like Loser, Bang Bang Bang, Let’s Not Fall in Love, Bae Bae, Fxxt It, etc. These are men who have worked hard to be who they want to be and have suffered for it. New fans will understand that BigBang doesn’t owe their fans a million comebacks, variety show appearances, etc. VIPs know how to wait and appreciate what these artists are sharing with us which actually contains their own thoughts and feelings.
This is the first time in my life ever heard anyone thinks Daesung is the typical Kpop idol while he was always judged to be too ugly for a Kpop idol for the last 15 years, but thank you! Really enjoy your reaction!
they are the first-ever kpop idol group to write and produced their own song they started the whole thing... the lightsticks, fandom name, mini album, etc. they all started it in kpop.. THEY ARE THE BLUEPRINT
In still life the guy you mentioned with the voice, the second guy. That's Daesung. He is one of the best and strongest vocalists in kpop. The rock star in BB. The main vocal Taeyang just takes most of the lines in BB songs so Dae's voice isn't shining so much. And Dae has had some medical issues with his voice before, might also be a reason for less lines. But he has solo songs that he goes all out, mostly in Japan. Try D-Lite - Anymore live in japan dome tour 2017 (he goes by D-Lite in Japan) and Daesung Missing You Now (Close-up Edit). I adore his voice.
G-Dragon both raps and sings and has an amazing falsetto. You will always recognise his voice and I would say that he has the most distinctive voice in K-pop. You are right about his fashion and style - he can wear anything and look good. Top - "He's pretty". He sure is. He's one of the biggest visuals in K-pop. And yes, he has been through a LOT. "They look like they have a lot of fun together" - you have no idea. They're crazy. Regarding the structure of Bang Bang Bang, yes, they were the ones who started that sort of sound which became the standard. Yes, their lyrics are very personal as they do write them. Top writes his rap parts. My first reaction to them years ago was the opposite of yours in that, being new to K-pop, I was so glad to see a group like them who were so different from all the others. When you've been a long time Bigbang fan nothing now can surprise you (except BB themselves, haha). Thank you for such an insightful and thoughtful reaction. Not to mention exciting, lol.
You are definitely one of the best interpreter among all reactors i have watch and your insights are always spots on just like your Shinee's reaction before. Its like you are used and know them very well already. Hats off to you Yetti im always blown away with your interpretation skills. Together with SNSD, they are my KINGS and QUEENS of kpop for 12 freaking years.
I discovered them late as well. They had just left on hiatus. I got to experience the release of "flower road" and was excited for the comeback. This left me feeling so bittersweet. They kept their promise but you can hear the pain in the music. As much as it hurts to listen to it i can't stop because it really fills my heart and breaks it all at once. I'm dramatic. I know.
May be because they are always in their hiatus. As a Vip over 13 years, I'm well used to their hiatus and will be calmly waiting for their comeback as Kings again like this time.
@@dy414 true ,I think it's something you've to get used to when you Stan YG fam ,I'm a blink so I also trying to get used to the long waiting periods between comebacks .
I've been a fan of BigBang since 2010 they're the reason I found out kpop. There's no kpop artist who come close to them at the moment, they're legendary in anything they do. And I can confirm to you that they've been through a lot. I'm excited to see your journey with BigBang.
You have so much to unpack on this group and their story. Specially their leader, GD, the one who shows command. He literally transcended kpop where it is right now. This group has pushed the limits of what kpop idols can do. Its like they walked the long road so everyone else could run. Almost all their songs are made by them, specially both the rappers, GD & TOP. GD specifically wrote all the lyrics and melodies. They said you have to be very well versed in korean to appreciate and realized how great of a lyricist he is. He is the idol of idols, a trendsetter the koreans look up to when it comes to fashion. His discography is sooo diverse, you have to check it out. It is gold. Taeyang, with the great vocals, is a Christian. Contrary to his stage persona, he is actually married to his first girlfriend and they now have a child together. There is sooo much to unpack also on his discography.
30:42 that’s GD you won’t believe how super shy and cute he is in reality , his personality is the best He is the leader of bigbang All of them are unique tbh
You can see why this guys are the Real KINGS of Kpop. They don't follow the same path other kpop groups are doing are. They don't do choreo nor use same clothes. They just don't care. They don't follow rules in kpop industry, they will always break it and do a rules of their own. They just have talents. They rely on it
Bigbang is the only kpop group where all of the members each have successful solo projects. That’s why Bigbang only came back every 3-4 years because each member was always busy promoting their solos. Yes, please check their solos, you won’t be disappointed!! Yes, they write their own stuff. GD is the main producer of the group, but the members also produced some of the songs together with him and YG other producers, like teddy, vince, etc2. GD is a kpop idol with the most copyrighted music under his belt with 173 songs (including Still Life) that he composed, wrote, and produced under his name. TOP also produced for BB and he always wrote his own line. You should check GD’s whole career starting when he was a member of Little Roora when he was only 6 yo. That man is truly a legend. And yes, T.O.P, the one in the bunny suit has gone through a lot, he even attempted suicide 2-3 years ago. We VIPs are so happy that he survived and that he is still with us and that he was found on time. These past 4 years have been really hard for Bigbang and VIPs. Thank you for the reaction and please check out the whole MADE series, it’s great!
Not you naming taeyang confidence and gd king lol, so on point lol Oh also, taeyong if you want some solo stuff, eyes nose lips, that songs drowns me honestly, pls react
They are actually the reason why idols write their own songs today.. They have set so much so standards in kpop that they are just legends... They are trensetters and they have revolted so much to bring kpop to what it is now today.. They never wanted to be confined and always broke the sterotypes..
yeay Big Bang~ Well back in 2nd gen kpop era, the top 3 labels have total different vibes~ for YG,they're full with swag, hip hop styles (Big bang & 2NE1), JYP have the 'beast' idols with complex dance routine (2PM) / iconic wonder girls with retro vibes and SM Ent have the vocals, visuals (TVXQ, BoA, SUJU, SNSD, SHINee), and the thing I love the most, all Idols in this era are so close to each other like very very big family~ and have so many collaborations especially during the year end awards show. Still remember when Wonder girls paired with Big bang, 2PM with Girls generation etc~ miss the good old days~ although I'm a Shawol, but I'm so happy for VIP as their long awaited comeback finally came to an end..
Every Kpop group has the rapper/s, the guys with deep voice, the guy with girlie voice, the guy with RnB voice and so on....... Big Bang has all of it in 1 group. Each member encompasses more than 1 or these points and they are each, vocally and image wise, persona, dance, lyrics, melodies so epically good at it all. Lastly they stood out and started many of the trends you see today. They were brave enough to go against the expectations of others and do their own thing. They were not afraid to experiment too. Kpop artists today have come so far because Big Bangs influence allowed them the freedom to do so.
YES!! Bigbang! Here is an extensively long introduction and history of Bigbang: They debuted in 2006 from YG. They were not super successfull right from the start but with Lies in 2007 and Haru Haru in 2008 they catapulted to superstardom in South Korea. And they just grew bigger with each comeback and started to get international fame too. And this was before TH-cam and social media were huge like they are now. They really like to experiment with their music, you'll never know what to expect from them.... pop-rock to EDM to old school rap and everything in between. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why they are so loved by both kpop fans and the general public. Never trust a kpop fan who doesn't know Bigbang (or the other 2nd gen legends). They have a hand in everything regarding their music, writing and producing (GD is the one who started the whole idols doing their own music thing), they fund their consert tours 100% themselves, they design the lighting, stages, setlists, arrangements etc for conserts. They are the blueprint that other companies use to form their new groups. The members are GD (G-Dragon): Leader, Lead rapper, Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (red hair in Bang Bang Bang, an actual musical genius) TOP: Main rapper, minimal vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Art collector, born 1987 (deep voiced rapper) Taeyang: Main vocal, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (pink hair in BBB, and yes we VIPs have concluded over the years that he is most likely allergic to shirts..) Daesung: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1989 (Brown hair in BBB and can't see behing that bangs, most of his solo stuff is under the name D-Lite in Japan) ex-member Seungri: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1990 (white hair in BBB, left BB in 2019 due to a scandal (he was our maknae for 13 years so I'm including him here and he's in all of BB's MVs except Still Life). If you want to know more I can write a new comment on that, but all in all it was a super messy, public and complicated thing that was part a witch hunt, part covering bigger issues and there was some small part that was also the truth. There is A LOT of wrong info going around on this scandal.) They don't really dance during their MVs and lives (like pretty much all other groups do) but they are talented dancers, especially Taeyang, GD and Seungri. When you get to know them more you will see that TOP is the greatest dancer of all!! LOL Seungri even had a dance academy and many idols trained there, like J-Hope (BTS) and Minzy (2NE1). BB are the kings of live performances!! They like to arrange their songs differently for pretty much every consert and live show. They have had the same live band with them since 2012. The band six toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favorites live are Café, Haru Haru (acoustic version) and Sober (with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a consert, the Japan dome tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE or 0to10 tours are also great ones. But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are normal now but what Bigbang started: - Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong) - TOP was the first underground rapper turned idol (turned into a successfull actor) - Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce). So now younger idols have the chance to make their own music thanks to GD and BB breaking the stereotype. - Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music. And started to combine different genres in one song. Like Bang bang bang. - Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop. - To have actual rappers in a group and not a singer who has trained to rap here and there. The rap line GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together) - Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group - Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo careers. - International success. They were the first ones to have a real world tour, first international awards, etc. - YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG. YG ent is one of the "BIG 3" (or the big 4...with Hybe) all thanks to BB. YGE was extremely poor (like going bankrupt level) and a small company when BB debuted and thanks to their success they are now one of the biggest companies out there. BB was responsible for over 60% of YGEs income at one point and for some time too. - First mini albums - They were always themselves, goofy, weird and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are. - High fashion in kpop (mainly GD.. and TOP) - Crazy hair colors (mainly GD again) - The list goes on.. They've had some scandals over the years (some real and some not) but in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media (and knets) hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in a super conservative world of kpop idols. What I personally like the most about them is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most and that is excellent music. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they finally appear in the public again with BB or solo promotions!! (The world of kpop was very different when I started my kpop journey in 2010... groups were collaborating, male and female idols were collaborating, no useless scandals over every little thing and the fandoms weren't nearly as toxic as they are now, ah the golden era of kpop. I miss those days. Newer fans have no idea what they have missed out on.) I would recommend to start either from the start or go with the most recent MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. Also they all have excellent solo music with their own flare. Please check out Daesung (D-Lite) - Anymore (live Japan dome tour 2017) and TOP - Doom Dada (MV) for starters. They are hilarious people so variety shows are a must: Happy together, weekly idol, Radio Star, all the Running Man episodes with BB are golden, Run Bigbang scout and the made movie.
They're the legend. Yes, the light stick is actually a "Crown" they're the KINGs of KPOP. And also, they started the light stick trend 😎 not just a legend but a trendsetter... music, fashion, and etc. Thank u so much for reacting to Bigbang. Love it!!! I love the way how you notice every single details. ❤️
Their fans are called VIP’s and the crown is designed for us. Over the years, the music, artistry, charisma, MV’s, performances, personalities, respect from the music industry, and love for their fans has made them the undisputed Kings of Kpop❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ VIP❤️
Yes Bigbang's did this "Still Life" comeback song as a promise n a closure to fans after 4 yrs disappearance. hence it is just 1 single ballet comeback song with no promotion at all , n this song has strong meanings in lyrics, even the scenes there's many hidden meanings including the 4 chairs (fans pointed out that Daesung sitting on 3rd chair symbolises 4th chair for Seungri, n the 4th chair is slightly broken symbolises the current state of Seungri) + 1 director chair fm GDragon's solo World Tour prior the long hiatus, n the final logo of 5 horizontal lines. I really miss them so much especially Bigbang's leader GDragon, my super bias who is composer, song writer, n producer since age 21, n he basically carved out the blueprint of current Kpop standard including creating fandom light sticks as he said he wanted to see all the fans in their concerts so VIP light stick is the 1st Kpop light stick, n he pave the way for Kpop into the World since 2010s. Bigbang r filled with multi-talents, creativity, swag, best live performance kpop group known, their cool. savage, honest n fun characteristics n brotherhood. So this comeback song is like a chapter closure n to make a clear statement that Bigbang is always 5! In the mv, apart fm showing 4 chairs + 1 GD's director chair n the ending same Bigbang's MADE logo of 5 horizontal lines, some fans said that GD's umbrella (black on top n colorful inside) represents Seungri as GD has painted an abstract painting for Seungri whereby he painted it with all different colours n then on top of it covered with black color, when Seungri asked what it means GD explained to Seungri that he is the colors behind the black n ask him to look into his hearts (GD is such a deep, beautiful n artistic person). Also some fans said they recognised Seungri's voice as backup singing at 1:10 of the song after TOP's rapping which makes them feel complete. TOP has hinted Bigbang will go back to hiatus. YG will try its best to prevent disbandment as Bigbang, the Kings & Legends, is too powerful. YG has said formerly that Bigbang made YG not the other way round, even to date Bigbang pretty much runs YG not the other way round, once Bigbang renew contract YG share price shot up, once they did a Comeback YG share price shot up, now investors speculate Bigbang's "Still Life" may signifies disbandment, YG share price drops n YG has to quickly clarifies Bigbang is still around. I'm hoping that in future the great leader King GD will regroup his Bigbang troupe, I feel that GD knows Seungri is a great guy, n feel that GD will either have real Bigbang5 comeback or forever No comeback! GD is the coolest swag multi-talented guy with backbone n a great caring leader to his team, hail to King GD! I earnestly look forward to their reunion for a real comeback in future with all 5 which they will do concerts with their powerful live performances n appear in music variety shows that make u laugh so hard, I miss their fun synergy so very much. For now I can only look forward to their solos especially my super bias King GD, hope they will all at least hv real solo comeback to VIPs open arms, that includes attending music shows, solo concerts, as we really miss them so much for so long, they r just unbeatable n irreplaceable! 🥺❤👑 🌸🙏
Funny how you said you want to know the story of GD, because now you can - DKDKTV did a video about him titled "every kpop idol looks up to that legendary artist". Highly recommend to check it out 👌 And about the lyrics in "Bang Bang Bang" about men going on top, women getting low or something like that - this translation is a little rough and certainly not quite accurate, it's my first time seeing this lyrics video, so I know why you reacted like that. I've never thought it's degrading, because in Korean it sounds more like they are saying "guys - jump high, girls - go low" as women usually (in the clubs that I went to 😅) are dancing quite low, sometimes even going all the way to the floor and back up, while men usually just jump around haha
@@ms.chuisin7727 I don't really know what you mean, sorry 😅 If it's something from their videos, I didn't watch any of the latest ones. And if it's something from the social media, I'm not active on any. If you want to explain, I'm all ears 😉
@@lynn4ya They made a video saying Got7 will never comeback as 7 and if they comeback with all 7 members they gonna chop off their ⚽️⚽️. Bam Bam had just posted about it and say "alr that's enough. Let's chop chop".
Thank you for this video Yetti. It brings back good memories after all this time. They debuted when it was a requirement for idols to have a certain pretty and clean looks, while they were not so much at the looks department at that time. Their difference was, they were the first idol group who wrote and produce their own songs, and their songs are really and incredibly good which raised them up to the top, plus, they performed each and every songs live which were a rarity at that times.
16:30 Got teary eyed when you asked this, I'm just so proud for my boys. They really are personal with their craft. From writing/composing, producing, choreograph to making the MVs, props to clothing and performances on stages they are so involved in everything. That this make them unique w/ so many idols or performers they are artist!!!
OMG I just saw this reaction and it’s like I’ve been waiting for it! I am relatively new to knowing these epic grupos of kpop as Big Bang and 2en1, I met them through blackpink looking for more group of YG entertaiment and I was absolutely in shock as you when I started to watch them videos. Even being new with big Bang and 2en1 I feel kind of proud for big Bang's comeback and 2en1's performance at coachella, it’s just feel that they deserve it. Please react to more Big Bang and 2en1! Four days ago I saw Hello bitches from CL leader of 2en1 and it was impressive! As always, I loved your reactions and deep thoughts! You really take to time to feel the song I love that!
Yes! So glad to see appreciation for Big Bang from newer KPop fans. Also, yes that’s why SHINee are princes because Big Bang are the kings! I’m a ShaWol, but you have to give respect where its due. Also it fits, when you say kings you get strong, independent, powerful, type of impactful which they are. SHINee are aptly princes too cause they’re more the charming, bright, soft, comforting type of impactful.
It's incredible how much you actually got right abou them with a first reaction! Bigbang are indeed a very special group, not just in kpop but in general I'd say. No matter how many scandals they face or how many years pass between releases, people are always waiting for them.
Pretty sure the lyric, "Guys go on top, girls get low", was basically a, "everybody freak out, guys jump around, girls drop it low", as in the typical club experience.
As far as I know, they went through a creative block and didn't realease anything for 2/3 years, then they came back with "MADE" which includes "BANG BANG BANG", "LOSER", "LET'S NOT FALL IN LOVE" and other popular songs. This release was very successful in South Korea. It was also the last project they hade before the members had to go to the obligatory army service, so they really wanted to cause an impact and also find the style they wanted to convey. I love Taeyang's (you should listen to "Eyes, Nose, Lips") and Daesung's (I love "Shut up") voices so much! For me, they're the best in kpop.
I love you for reacting to them , I’m super interested in seeing your journey with bigbang 🥹♥️♥️♥️♥️ people usually don’t react to them as much as the new generation of kpop which is upsetting cuz of how talented and unique they are
Another great reaction video Yetti! I watched a lot of review about their new song but this is by far the best review of 'still life' and yeah they've been through a lot of crazy stuff the past years. Idk if you notice but they are now 4 members but still 5 in VIPs eyes. Nobody can replace bigbang. Still the kings of kpop. 👑
Everyone falls for GD s swag and commanding aurora Bae's voice and his shirtlessness Tops awesome looks and rapping Daes amazing voice and confidences and pandas cheeky vibe You will not find another like them Not just their talent but their personality. True kings !!
This was one of the best discovery/ reaction videos I’ve seen. The way you articulated a lot of the underlying messages in their videos and songs was amazing! Made me realize things or think of things I never considered before.
To tell you, It is so fun discovering Bigbang through their songs, the more you listen, the more you relate to them, the more you see them as great musicians and the more you see them as humans. Their songs make me feel so connected to them, they are realistic mf who will slap you hard with reality, No sugarcoated promises, no bullshit. Just 5 ppl doing ART, expressing themselves through music. if they are sad, then they are really sad, If they are broken-hearted, then they are, if they feel lost, then their songs will reflect that with RAW emotions and no filter at all.
yes they are heavily involved since 2007. they also the cause for self producing idols. back then their was a stigma that idols are products of idol system and cannot self produce songs. BB has produce songs but the most important is their songs are hit songs even the Bsides and solos. their lyrics are more focus on koreans, the english translations do not give justice to the korean lyrics because they have expressions that have actual words and no english counterpart. koreans often praise BB for their lyrics which contains metaphors that can be interpreted in different ways. still life makes some people happy looking forward to the next chapter and others feels sad due to nostalgia and the past. their are different ways how people interpret it. also GD i s very popular for putting lyrics under a lyrics. he uses wordplays that have double meaning. their is a korean couple who tried to explain the lyrics. and said BB was the most poetic group they know which sets them apart from other groups. but due to lack of social media back then vips had a hard time translating their songs; their MV dont have english translations too and we dont have people who would explain to us their meaning unlike now
So glad you have discovered BigBang. They are icons. Among a few other gen2 groups they truly laid the foundation that 3rd and 4th gen are walking on. Their stage presence is insane. People have covered bigbang before but there's always some nerves because the presence the members convey is always hard to match. I hope you can react to more stuff, a mixture of live and MVs since they are insane live but also probably a guide will help kinda answer the history and questions you had about the members. All of them have solo work but Taeyang and GD have a bit more to check out. also the two sub units, rap sub unit of GD&TOP and then GD & Taeyang.
OMG!!! The memories 😭💕 ... Back in 2012, I used to go to a club in Argentina that was aimed mainly for asian community but anyone could go obviously, and us girls who loved asian guys would be there every week meeting asians and having a great time, and Fantastic baby, bang bang bang by Big Bang, Hands Up by 2PM and Gangnam Style by Psy were played on the club all the time and we would dance to it with cute asian guys we would meet there, oh beautiful times those *sigh* . Back then, during the second generation of kpop (the best one) was when kpop really exploded and became world wide known, bands like Big Bang, SHINee and Super Junior really made a name for kpop (boys groups) and Girls generation and 2ne1 (for girls groups), they changed the industry, created trends, broke barriers, and paved the way for newer kpop, it was really the GOLDEN ERA for kpop, pure talent, diversity and healthy fandoms that supported each other and loved multistaning, unlike fandoms nowadays that are so competitive and kind of toxic (not everyone in those fandoms obviously, can't generalize) but really, Big Bang is huge in kpop history, they deserve the recognition, I'm a shawol but I will always support Big Bang, 2PM and Super Junior, I love them all. 💕👏 Best kpop era, periodttt!!!! 😅
Wow, iam really impressed how you actually analysed "Still Life", many new points of view i got from you. I really love that Song and after being a fan for so long and waiting for them to come back it means so much to me.
I was fighting with the sun, confusion, tears and occasional thirst watching them - what happens to you?

Omg finally somebody else commented on it,good eye there 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Also, if I recall correctly, I’m about 99% certain she choreographed this whole MV…

Up!
And haters love to project onto idols, online anonymity makes people bold 😒
daesung is so gorgeous
same thoughts. even mr yg himself has ragged on daesung's looks
@@ygltazanya that guy rags a lot of people's looks for someone who looks like he does.
Dae is fire 😌✨
heres the thing.
She was also asking the question we've been asking for years: "Why isn't he (Taeyang) wearing a shirt?" 😂

Taeyang is the shirtless main vocalist with the beautiful voice, you should react to Eyes Nose Lips, Ringa Linga and Wedding Dress
Taeyang's solo song i love the most is from RISE album , title "let go"
The part that really got to me was when TOP said that he will be better and when he said "For Life".
Yup Bigbang
Wow

So true, their live performances are way more entertaining and infectious than their MVs. That's why we Vips are thirst to attend their concerts no matter what !!!
that's why they're called the idols of idols!
“Why does he not wear shirts” LMAO. I JUST SPAT MY WATER.
TAEYANG WAS ALWAYS LIKE THAT 🤣 even if he’s wearing one, you better expect him to tear it up at some point in every concert. Lmao. This is gold
So true 😆
Yes! This comment said everything I wanted to say. Perfect! 💫
“We don’t get lyrics like this” yasss! Bigbang songs are so relatable and resonates that’s why I love them so much! Usually GD and T.O.P write their songs. Also, all members have solo stuff. Please check them all! 😍
From BP to BB I love your reactions!
The girl on the chain is actually a world renowned choreographer Paris Goebel, and if I am not mistaken she choreographed this song too.
Yes, I think from THE ROYAL COMPANY dance group
She did, she choreographed for taeyang, ikon, and 2ne1 too. Royal family dance crew
Actually Bigbang was the first group to introduce fandom lightsticks. GD designed the first light stick ever for VIPs (fandom) to distinguish their fans in a crowd. Enjoyed your reaction!

How come you just discovered about them but you seems to understand their stories. I enjoying your reaction to them and for Still Life, i cried 😭 it feels related
Of course she's read about BIGBANG and is pretending to discover them here.
The best reaction to Big Bang that i've ever seen, your analysis is on point👏
In "Bang Bang Bang":
> The guy without the shirt standing on the van is Taeyang, vocalist and main dancer.
(Pretty much the guy all Kpop rappers and everyone in the industry looks up to.)
> The guy with his hair covering his eyes is Daesung, main vocal.
I'm sure I'll edit this as I continue watching this lol
I've been with them since 2010 I'm so happy you're reacting to them
Thanks for the context 😀

Bet me,they fame will never fade since they started almost everything in kpop
Yetti, thanks for introducing me to this group. Really good.
There is no one like GDragon. Just like there's no one like Prince or Michael Jackson or any other genius musical prodigy icon.
GD pioneered the Korean music industry the same way Prince and Michael did in America.
Absolutely DIED at the isolated “AHH!” At the beginning of bang bang bang😂😂
I highly recommend watching internetsnathan’s video on bigbang. He goes into their start, specifically GD and talks about the brilliance behind the MADE album just to learn a little more about them!
Yes they particularly GD are involved in their songwriting/production
Interntathan is a BIGBANG hater, don't know if you are a VIPs, but don't make this suggestion again
Omg I cried through this whole video
your interpretation of STILL LIFE is so on point. taeyang truly is on a boat conquering new things as a new dad.
TOP is on the moon - on different land. He just left YG. We don't know how long he'll be promoting with Bigbang.
The emphasis on them being only 4 is pertaining to the member that they loss.
the Guy rapper With a lot of charisma is the leader King of kpop and fashion icon G-dragon and He writes and produces their music He is a genius
The one you said improved his voice is Daesung and he has always had a magnificent voice ! Check out "anymore" and you'll see he's always been a top tier vocalists
He's actually the power belter in the group.
He's a power belter in the group!!!!
I love Bigbang because of their bittersweet journey. There is soo many great idols in kpop world but Bigbang holds special place in my heart
Yes, his voice so beautiful
His live version of "Anymore" has me holding my breath and crying at the same time.
The guy you keep no talking about the badass " yes that's the UNDISPUTED King of Kpop. Idols of all idols.
G DRAGON.
I've been waiting for this day, BIGBANG is the greatest discovery of all lemme tell you
"BigBang is Idol of Idols."
I know.
Yes!!! They are the OG, the LEGENDS, The KINGS of KPOP
I’m very surprised that many youtubers are only finally getting to know them.
And in glad that's finally happening , they're honestly leaving a legacy and people should know where all these things that made kpop came from
May be because they are always in their hiatus.
30:42 that’s GD
you won’t believe how super shy and cute he is in reality , his personality is the best
He is the leader of bigbang
All of them are unique tbh
Not you naming taeyang confidence and gd king lol, so on point lol
Oh also, taeyong if you want some solo stuff, eyes nose lips, that songs drowns me honestly, pls react
to answer all thequestion its very simple: ITS BIGBANG thats it
They are actually the reason why idols write their own songs today.. They have set so much so standards in kpop that they are just legends... They are trensetters and they have revolted so much to bring kpop to what it is now today.. They never wanted to be confined and always broke the sterotypes..
I spit my water out when you asked "does he not wear a shirt?"
I've been a VIP for 10yrs and this is forever funny for me.
yeay Big Bang~ Well back in 2nd gen kpop era, the top 3 labels have total different vibes~ for YG,they're full with swag, hip hop styles (Big bang & 2NE1), JYP have the 'beast' idols with complex dance routine (2PM) / iconic wonder girls with retro vibes and SM Ent have the vocals, visuals (TVXQ, BoA, SUJU, SNSD, SHINee), and the thing I love the most, all Idols in this era are so close to each other like very very big family~ and have so many collaborations especially during the year end awards show.
I love your reactions! “He invited his shirtless friends’. LOL
YES!! Bigbang! Here is an extensively long introduction and history of Bigbang:
They debuted in 2006 from YG.
The members are
GD (G-Dragon): Leader, Lead rapper, Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (red hair in Bang Bang Bang, an actual musical genius)
TOP: Main rapper, minimal vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Art collector, born 1987 (deep voiced rapper)
Taeyang: Main vocal, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (pink hair in BBB, and yes we VIPs have concluded over the years that he is most likely allergic to shirts..)
Daesung: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1989 (Brown hair in BBB and can't see behing that bangs, most of his solo stuff is under the name D-Lite in Japan)
ex-member Seungri: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1990 (white hair in BBB, left BB in 2019 due to a scandal (he was our maknae for 13 years so I'm including him here and he's in all of BB's MVs except Still Life). If you want to know more I can write a new comment on that, but all in all it was a super messy, public and complicated thing that was part a witch hunt, part covering bigger issues and there was some small part that was also the truth. There is A LOT of wrong info going around on this scandal.)
They don't really dance during their MVs and lives (like pretty much all other groups do) but they are talented dancers, especially Taeyang, GD and Seungri.
But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are normal now but what Bigbang started:
- Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong)
- TOP was the first underground rapper turned idol (turned into a successfull actor)
- Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce).
The rap line GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together)
- Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group
- Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB.
- First mini albums
- They were always themselves, goofy, weird and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are.
- High fashion in kpop (mainly GD.. and TOP)
- Crazy hair colors (mainly GD again)
- The list goes on..
Newer fans have no idea what they have missed out on.)
I would recommend to start either from the start or go with the most recent MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. Also they all have excellent solo music with their own flare. Please check out Daesung (D-Lite) - Anymore (live Japan dome tour 2017) and TOP - Doom Dada (MV) for starters.
They are hilarious people so variety shows are a must: Happy together, weekly idol, Radio Star, all the Running Man episodes with BB are golden, Run Bigbang scout and the made movie.
boosting this because there is a lot of good info here!!
Lol I was looking for this comment!! Someone said it 👏 Gdragon is the mastermind behind light sticks!
@@nehasa1508 VIP ❤️👑
one word “KINGS”
Highly recommend to check it out 👌
And about the lyrics in "Bang Bang Bang" about men going on top, women getting low or something like that - this translation is a little rough and certainly not quite accurate, it's my first time seeing this lyrics video, so I know why you reacted like that.
I've never thought it's degrading, because in Korean it sounds more like they are saying "guys - jump high, girls - go low" as women usually (in the clubs that I went to 😅) are dancing quite low, sometimes even going all the way to the floor and back up, while men usually just jump around haha
Dkdktv? 🤣🤣🤣 have you heard what happened recently? They gonna need some chastity cage to protect their ⚽️⚾️🥎🏀🏐
@@ms.chuisin7727 I don't really know what you mean, sorry 😅 If it's something from their videos, I didn't watch any of the latest ones.
@@ms.chuisin7727 omg 😂😂😂 thank you for explaining!
LoL the dckdcktv? Please no.
Im sure you mustve heard taeyangs “eyes, nose, lips” at some point without realizing its him
16:30 Got teary eyed when you asked this, I'm just so proud for my boys.
The greatest kpop group in history with the greatest live performance. The kings of kpop.
You need to see their live performances. UNMATCHABLE
even their solos are superior.
They are one of, if not the only, group who were also succesful soloist. ✨✨
Yeah I’m pretty sure it was referring to dancing
49:19 “if we can’t be 5, we can’t be 4”. Wow. I’m amazed you caught on to that
As far as I know, they went through a creative block and didn't realease anything for 2/3 years, then they came back with "MADE" which includes "BANG BANG BANG", "LOSER", "LET'S NOT FALL IN LOVE" and other popular songs.
That’s because they were also busy focusing on their solo career. While Bigbang was on hiatus the members usually focus on their solos.
How could I like a video more than once? Or watch a video over again like it was the first time? This made me so happy
Everyone falls for GD s swag and commanding aurora
Bae's voice and his shirtlessness
Tops awesome looks and rapping
Daes amazing voice and confidences and pandas cheeky vibe
You will not find another like them
Not just their talent but their personality. True kings !!
If these songs don’t get people to like them, I don’t know what will 💜 They are all amazing and incredibly talented.
Idols rn wouldn't have the chance to be involve with their music if BIGBANG didn't do it first. BIGBANG produced and write their music. 😁
yes they are heavily involved since 2007. they also the cause for self producing idols. back then their was a stigma that idols are products of idol system and cannot self produce songs. BB has produce songs but the most important is their songs are hit songs even the Bsides and solos. their lyrics are more focus on koreans, the english translations do not give justice to the korean lyrics because they have expressions that have actual words and no english counterpart. koreans often praise BB for their lyrics which contains metaphors that can be interpreted in different ways. still life makes some people happy looking forward to the next chapter and others feels sad due to nostalgia and the past. their are different ways how people interpret it. also GD i s very popular for putting lyrics under a lyrics. he uses wordplays that have double meaning. their is a korean couple who tried to explain the lyrics. and said BB was the most poetic group they know which sets them apart from other groups. but due to lack of social media back then vips had a hard time translating their songs; their MV dont have english translations too and we dont have people who would explain to us their meaning unlike now
Bang bang bang live is even more amazing.
that crown stick is actually made by GDragon and actually the first stick in kpop before it boom
They are the LEGENDS!!! The real Kings of Kpop
All of them have solo work but Taeyang and GD have a bit more to check out. also the two sub units, rap sub unit of GD&TOP and then GD & Taeyang.
once you watch their live performamces you won't regret it.
Best kpop era, periodttt!!!! 😅
They are the Kings, they do whatever they one.
