Wow! You just create a greatest badminton video that I ever seen. Not because I'm an Indonesian, it because the way how you see how high the value and how much talented The Liliana is. Sir, thank you for making this video. I hope, in the future, Indonesia will have the next Liliana.
Great respect for Natsir.. Her determination and focus become a rare thing in Indonesian players nowadays. Hopefully we can see another "natsir" for the future.. Thank you ben, for keeping your words to release this video.. Love it.. 😊
Yeah making this video really opened my eyes to a whole other side to Liliyana. My respect for her went even higher (and that didn't seem possible). Thanks for watching
Thank you for this great video, it means a lot to us as Indonesians. I grew up seeing how she was born into a great player. There's nothing about her that doesn't amaze me. Her talent, passion, dedication, will and hard work are what make her deserve the utmost respect. She will forever be irreplaceable. She will always be the best female mixed doubles player that Indonesia has ever had.
This tribute video makes my eyes so teary. Thank you so very much for the wonderful video. To me personally, there will never be another Liliyana Natsir. She's one of a kind, irreplaceable. Legend for a lifetime. ❤❤❤🇮🇩
Thank you very much Sir for this emotional and inspiring video of Liliyana Natsir. She is actually a true Badminton legend in this universe. So many world badmintonnya players have been making Liliyana as one of their inspirations in badminton field. I love her very very much. But, thank you once again and I do really appreciate to you to make this lovely wonderful video about Liliyana Natsir,.our Indonesian badminton legend. Thank you Sir. Sincerely, Nur Madina. (A badminton lover and loyal fan of badminton).
Thank you for this documentary. I get to know the legendary Liliyana Natsir better and her amazing career. Love the way you narrate and the whole storyline as well. Well spend 52min!!
When you talked about Liliyana as a player - her strengths being her defense and court vision and her weakness being speed and power - this reminded me a lot of Huang YaQiong. Great video, by the way. Hadn't heard of her before as I'm new to badminton, so I enjoyed learning about her.
Glad you liked it and yeah Liliyana was not neutrally a gifted athlete but she made up for that with sheer grit, determination and professionalism. And yes, she was helped by her badminton abilities which were sublime
Great video, Ben! As a new badminton fan during the Rio Olympics, I rooted for Malaysia to win as many events as possible, including the mixed doubles final. Very disappointed and annoyed when the Indonesian pair emerged victorious. But I’ve now gained a new perspective and can appreciate how much that Olympic gold meant to her and why it is so deeply respected and deserved. 35:06 sums it all up. Just highlights her determination, commitment and resilience.
I'll be honest I was rooting for the Indonesians, and not just because my wife is Indonesian or that I knew their story better, but that I have always enjoyed and admired Liliyana (and Nova and Tontowi) and I always found myself wanting to support them no matter who they played 😊
Been a badminton enthusiast all along. Never followed the tournaments or players up until recently. While admiring current generation of players and games, getting to know the legends of yesteryear through your beautiful narration is joy every badminton enthusiast must experience. Thanks for bringing all the moments to your followers. Cheers and a Happy New Year!!!!
I appreciate her more! And huge credit to Owi for stepping up on the ultimate stage when needed! What a way to treat the new year! Thank you Ben for another amazing content! Always the best! 🤝🏸❣️💯
Oh for sure, it takes two to tango and whenever they won big Tontowi was always a huge factor. A great mixed player And you're welcome, my pleasure to make this video
Wow, great storytelling. I think that Natsir's achievement has been underappreciated in home country. As an Indonesian and a badminton fan, I can't thank you enough for this video.
Thank you so much! Yes, this video isn't getting the views at the moment that I expected, but I don't make these videos solely for that. If I can tell a cool story and shine a light on the legends of our game, then I'm happy. I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊
As a indonesian of course i grew up watching badminton... ci butet, ko hendra and taufik was the one i watch since i was young😊 especially came from manado aswell is very proud to see a hometown talent like her can give great achievements for the country and later on players like greysia do the same thing... really miss a type of players like her, especially in terms of woman badminton players we have a slow regeneration😢 hope one day we can see another lilyana😊
One of my inspirations to reach my goal in life is surprisingly her. I have been bombarded with failure and struggle. She said that to win the game in the war, we should prepare EVERYTHING to compete and win.
Liliana natsir aka butet is legend....we all indonesian so sad cause her close her carier in badminton....there no other like butet skill in xd indonesia only liliana who is biggest xd indonesia have....we all miss liliana natsir....
The other important thing is how impactful Lilyana Natsir to other player. In Indonesian interview, Debby Susanto said that the reason she trained hard is because the higher ranking player (Lilyana) trained so hard that she (Debby) can't be slacking off. Lilyana often said to Debby that if Debby can't return Lilyana's smashes, how she can return other male player's smashes? This results on Debby trained her defense harder. On other note, as an Indonesian, I always disappointed when I see Nova as Malaysian XD coach and Vita as Djarum (Indonesian Club) XD coach. Not their fault, but it's a missed opportunity nonetheless.
Hahaha a good way to put it by Liliyana. Nova having a great impact in Malaysia but was a coach for Indonesian mixed after his retirement. Not sure how long for though
Sorry for OOT, but i hope you'll consider making a video about something like "Top 3 (or 5) Most Wasted Talent in the last decade" which means top athletes that not only had S but S+ talent completed by good posture, height, agility, etc but maybe lack of mentality, consistency, or got injured while chasing the greatness. Someone that in your vision should have been capable to get a world championship gold medal or any color of olympic medal. I have one name to consider: Praveen Jordan.
That's a good video idea. For me the name that jumps out to me is Kenichi Tago. One of the most gifted singles players ever yet achieved far below what he should have. And it was for numerous reasons. I do like this video idea and agree Praveen Jordan was someone who could have achieved God level things. He still did pretty well though
Lilyana natsir was the best female indonesian mixed double player and until now there is no indonesian female mixed double player that can match her performance. Nowadays indonesian female mixed double players are slow, weak in defence, weak in offense. Until indonesia have another female mixed double player with lilyana natsir caliber, there is no chance indonesia can win in mixed double sector.
Watching this video made be remember when they beat Chang Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying in the olympic final, ( I am malaysian) it was not much of a fight honestly, the indonesians were in control
@@BenBeckmanBadminton Head to head was 13-7 to chinese pair It's mean statistically 65% : 35% I think Owi mentally not as though as Lilyana & chinese pair or chinese pair stamina a bit better or something else/several factor. In my opinion, they were a complete pair, good defense, attack, calmness, and experience. It was hard to beat them. They were ready to play anything. We also needed luck to beat them. If it was with another pair, we could still be tricked, for example from a weak attack or whatever. If it was with Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei, if we threw the ball wrong, it was dangerous," explained Tontowi.
Wow!
You just create a greatest badminton video that I ever seen.
Not because I'm an Indonesian, it because the way how you see how high the value and how much talented The Liliana is.
Sir, thank you for making this video.
I hope, in the future, Indonesia will have the next Liliana.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. And me too, I really hope we see another Liliyana in the future
Great video! I wasn't into badminton when Ms. Natsir was at her peak, but now I can catch a glimpse of the brilliance she showed back then!
There's way too much brilliance for one video to do it justice 🙌🏻
Great respect for Natsir..
Her determination and focus become a rare thing in Indonesian players nowadays. Hopefully we can see another "natsir" for the future..
Thank you ben, for keeping your words to release this video.. Love it.. 😊

Making this video gave me an even deeper respect for her, even though it was already crazy high. It gave me an insight into the mindset of a champion

Yeah I think the Malaysians were just so happy to be in an Olympic final. Their final was really that semi. Owi/Butet were in amazing form in Rio
Natsir is absolutely GOATED!! So often she was the best player on court!! Extremely rare for her to be the worst on court in a match!!
100% agree. She was amazing
What a nice video
Thanks 🙂
One of the badminton hero in m country
Oh for sure 🙌🏻
I think a bit luck too in Olympics because chinese pair Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei was in conflict
There's luck in everything, but I think even without that, Owi/Butet were in the shape of their lives in Rio
@@BenBeckmanBadminton
Head to head was 13-7 to chinese pair
It's mean statistically 65% : 35%
I think Owi mentally not as though as Lilyana & chinese pair or chinese pair stamina a bit better or something else/several factor.
In an interview:
