Hands of a surgeon and the knowledge of level8 engineer.keep the video coming ,
It pays to share knowledge😅
More to come!
I live in a city in South Africa but I just love your videos! You always speak so nicely about your little helpers. I think you are a very kind man.
Thank you for your kind comments. Great to know I have some South African viewers 👌
Your as handy as a small saucepan a joy to watch great video
Another great presentation sheep in great condition, brilliant shed super design. Great to be able to do so much work yourself. Wishing you good luck lambing take care
Thank you Myles...👌
Appreciate your Amazing beautiful sharing .. absolutely beautifully filming captured and lovely tour, keep up a great work .. have a wonderful blessing weekend to you and your lovely beautiful family .. TQSM from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you for your kind comments as always.. Glad you enjoyed 👌
I could listen 2 u all day mate 👍. Very interesting. Keep this kind of content coming. Have a good weekend and happy lambing.take care.
Thank you for your comment...👌 Glad to know you enjoyed.
Love your videos. Interesting and informative.
Your daughter and nephew are champion! 😁👍👍❤️
Cheers from Bailieboro, ON, 🇨🇦
My brother in law lives in Hamilton, ON. We visited in my younger days.. Ontario is a beautiful part of the world ❤🇨🇦
I am from Indonesia, your video stunning gave more insight how to made the barn more functional and modern.
Very nice set up there. I am putting on a lean to for my sheep and I have got some inspiration from this
Brilliant set up David! So adaptable & a clear span design when not being used for sheep can allow for machinery storage & workshop as you suggest. Your payback for lambs saved is indeed justification for the shed's costings if only others looked at it in this light.
Thank you so much 👌
Shed looking good. Thanks fer explaining everything to us.
Don’t understand how you only have 10 000 subscribers David, up there with the best videos on you tube, could watch you all day. Superb.
Thank you so much 💪
Rather have people watching the videos than a massive number of subs. Slow and steady, we'll get there😀
Really enjoyed this video David.
Very informative and very helpful to those of us who are new to raising sheep.
Glad it was helpful!
Great shed design. You obviously thought this through, thoroughly!
Thank you! Shed is working well..👌
Catching up on your videos as I missed a load. I love the way you chat about stuff, it feels like I'm just having a nice wee wonder about the farm with you, relaxing and so informative.
I wonder if having the birds in keeps flies down?
I'm wanting to have a smallholding myself (presuming no farmer falls madly in love with me & lets me raise sheep), and stuff like this is so helpful for helping work out what you need, even though it's much bigger than I'd need!
Welcome back! Not sure about the flies, definitely a problem this time of year. Good luck with your smallholding. I think farmers are blessed :)
Great video. That's a fine shed. Like the barrier design with the adjustable bar. Be handy to add another bar the same way too in future.
Thank you...👌 Glad to have shed in this bad spell of weather..
Brilliant shed. Anything to make life easier at lambing time. We use the camera in our sheds also in the cow sheds when a cow bags up we can keep a close eye on her where we're busy. I'll be taking time to watch your channel and like and subscribe to it also. Keep up the good work. 👌
Great stuff. Welcome to the channel..👌
Brilliant shed and very well presented video isn't it a great feeling to have the ewes in the shed on a dry bed of straw and it lashing outside 🙂
Thank you Paul. It certainly is a good feeling, even better when it starts snowing 😀
Brilliant video you have a brilliant way with you great at explaining everything looking forward to all your videos 👍👍
Good man. Thanks Aidan...👌
Hello, how big is the " house " of sheep? Long, high? And how many sheep? Do they get fed ( food) two or three times a day? Thanks so much
Will you be putting the lambing pens down the middle? that’s what we did. A bit more effort putting the feed around but very easy access to the lambing pens and easy to clean out thoroughly between occupants. We also made up dividing hurdles with a solid face which helped them mind their own business.
Hi Wendy. Lambing pens are in the adjoining shed with the open gable. Small sliding door connects the two sheds. They will feature in the next video for lambing...
@@sheepschool365 perfect set then!
Thoroughly enjoying the irish sheep game😂👍
Thank you... Cammy is in a different league..😀
You have a great setup👍
Great video again David, well explained content, there is great comfort in that shed!
Great comfort when it started snowing...😁
Great idea with the troughs, can never understand why people just throw expensive meal on the ground or on silage, last thing you need is waste!
Thank you... the meal is too expensive for that job
It's a very informative and great video.I've learned a lot.Thank you.
Serious shed..1 question are the walls made fom pre cast concrete panels or poured individually. I love the fact you can remove the barriers when needed ...alot more use from a shed than sheep for 3/4 wks..Good healthy flock ..Good job.
Thank you... walls are 150mm precast panels. Rsj uprights are 12inch so a lot of concrete for poured walls. Panels leave more options for changing layout or extending..
What a great out come with two 🐏
Hi David
Are the bays 15ft x 6 making it 90ft long? Also what width is the shed 3 bays at 45ft total?
And then sorry what size are the pens and how many ewes in each.
Planning my own shed here for the winter.
Thanks
15ft 9" bays. 94ft 6" long total.
49ft 2" wide.
Pen are approximately 18ft x 20ft. 35 sheep per pen. But can fit 40 if really stuck.
Good luck with your shed 👌
Nice sheep shed 😊
Great video . Is penned areas floor level the same as feeding passage or lower ?
Thank you 👌. Floor is level throughout the shed. I had planned on leaving passage 100mm higher but decided not to. Was then worried silage would get dirty from pee seeping out but no issues at all.
Thanks for the overview. Did you consider slatted flooring ( plastic or wooden) to save on bedding, healthier and easier to clean/ collect manure?
I did consider slats but because I only house sheep for a short period (4-6 weeks) it would leave the shed unfit for other purposes.
Lovely she’s would love to put one up myself one day what are the dimensions of the shed and. How wide is the feed ally ?
Fine shed
Thank you soooo much
You're welcome!
Love the shed! Unrelated question, what type of pull ups are you using!? Thank you. Love the videos.
Thank you.. they are Betacraft pull ups. Santy was kind this year 😉
Thanks man! Very helpful!
Great video David and that is some shed a great set up for sheep nice work 👌
Thank you Gary..👌
Very nice David!!
Thank you 👌
What great content, thank you. I am currently looking at starting up a small sheep farm here in South Africa. Would you mind terribly to advise how long and wide the shed is please?
Thank you 👌
Shed is 50ft wide x 97ft long and holds 300 sheep approx. Good luck with your sheep...
Hi David did you see the Viging's shed on Cammy's channel a few weeks ago? Not bad barriers he has in his revamped shed!
H Michelle. The Viking did a superb job on that shed..👏 Loves Cammy's channel. He is a great one!
Right to build it big enough when you were getting the grant with the price of steel now you would be taking a lot more 👍👍👍
Costs have spiraled out of control in last few years. I wouldn't like to face into it now...
Ah but price of lamb has to 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice bro, can you share the height and dimension of the fence?
Hi David, Do those costs you outlined include the material for internal fit out of pens, wall panels etc.?
Yes, that includes everything but exactly 5 years ago. Different prices now...
Your presentations are so great and are paying it back by Sheep School. Are they in any way connected.? (Maybe answer on future video). We had the rain/snow mix in Oregon yesterday. At our farm we used to lamb in winter but with so many coyotes see less of this outside.
Thank you very much. Do you use guardian/protection dogs in Oregon? We have problems with foxes that can kill young lambs up to 10 days or so. Uncontrolled domestic dogs cause more trouble.
Great layout. What size digger are you using to lift haylage bales?
A 3 ton komatsu..
Super set up Have you an engineering background or just a handy man with his hands
A little bit of both.. put it down to a miss spent youth tinkering with tools rather than toys....😀
Great video and great set up ! If you put the second bar in front gates, you would have to remove it for meal feeding ewes so probably just as handy to put on the straps when feeding a few lambs
What size are the pens ?
Is there any falls on floors/run off collection if housing sheep for winter ?
Thank you 👌 Pens are 6m x 5.5m. Floor in dead level with no step at feed passage. Bedding soaks up the run and have no problem with effluent.
@@sheepschool365 Thinking building a shed from telegraph poles and tin (no grants available) I like the layout how many ewes do you have in each pen?
@@S_Eglington 34 sheep per pen comfortably with meal trough space. few more if really tight for space with small trough inside each pen.
@@sheepschool365 Thanks, I'm sharing the back of a Luton van with a bearded collie pup walking 20,000 steps a day according to my phone dreaming of better accommodation for all of us. I haven't lost enough lambs to pay for it but keeping them in could grow enough extra grass in March to keep a few more.
What height is the bottom rail on the feed barrier and would you change it thanks
14"/350mm from ground up to top of bottom bar but height for sheep changes as the bedding builds up. Doesn't seem to matter and works well for my 75kg ewes
@@sheepschool365 thank you
Great video David.. good luck with lambing.. do you sell any ewe lambs or breeding hoggets?.
Thank you Henry. Yes, sell all as breeding hoggets in August/September.
May sell ewe lambs this year..
@@sheepschool365 good stuff I’d definitely be interested in buying some 👍🏻
My Friend , Look like Orkun Topkaya from Eskisehir Turkey 😀😀
WELL DONE MY DREAM TO BUILD MY FARM BUT I LOST MY FAMILY IN EARTHQUEJKE ITHINK NO MORE DERAM GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND
Would you galvanise the main shed uprights if doing it again?
Don't think so, much too expensive for galvanising. Would have cost an extra €6000 euro for my shed...
Some shed ya mind asking ya get grant it what sort money cost how many sheep.hold
Holds 272 ewes with comfort trough space but can put 300 in when pressure is on.. I run through cost in last few minutes of videos....👌
TOp 🎉👍
👍
How much money need to build this shed??
€100000 or so now.
How many sheep can it hold ?
280 with enough meal feeding trough space.
Why do not you get a plot of land from the government rent free has grass and running water to graze the sheep, in return for the lower prices after a certain number of years?
What size then is the shed say in feet ?
50ft x 95ft
Any more videos??
Do you have dimensions for the entire structure that you can share?
Would you prefer dimensions in metres or feet?
In metres , thanks.
@molomoifo 28.4m x 14.8m
Central passage way 4m wide.
Pens are 5.4m x 5.8m
Walk through troughs are 0.9m wide.
Greetings from canada. Can you show how you keep the lambs from jumping out when they're with there moms ?
I have no way of stopping them but generally ewes go out to grass with lambs about 24 hrs old. 🇨🇦❤️
@@sheepschool365 aw ic .another question for ya.you work a bit like me ,do shit myself, the bale chopper you got do you think a 65 hp skid steer would do her by motivating it to hydrolic motor insted of pto? How slow can it turn and still be affective like it rpm
It will operate down to around 300 rpm but doesn't blow very far. Some manufacturers have built mounted choppers to run off auxiliary hydraulics. That may be a better option for you.
@@sheepschool365 yes i know if some, however the 25k price tage is a bit of a turn off as they are not found in used conditions .but i will keep trying to come up with a better way to do bedding. Its only been 5 years that im thinking lol.if you like go see my feeding system !
Ju answer. one question 150 sheep
