3:57 I didn’t see a bony encroachment into the spinal canal at 3:28. It was some type of stenosis but not clear the cause? Bone isn’t dark or are there exceptions (then why use this sequence)? Looks more like fibrous tissue
7:49 not to be nitpicky, but on the normal image on the left you can see how little space you’d actually need for the handful of spots (nerves) remaining that far down the spine. And even on the right you can make out those spots and there is still space. So maybe instead of a compression problem, could it be reduced csf flow or spinal artery flow?
10:12 the ligamentum flavum addresses my first point then.
And here is a reason why the lig flavum can hypertrophy and cause stenosis:
The expression of P16 and S100 associated with elastin degradation and fibrosis of the Ligamentum Flavum hypertrophy, 2019
In other words, senescent cells, also apparent in RA, damage lig flavum
Per wiki and the paper below, apigenin flavonoid in eg parsley and chamomile strongly suppresses the inflammatory action of senescent cells.
Apigenin Alleviates Oxidative Stress-Induced Cellular Senescence via Modulation of the SIRT1-NAD+CD38 Axis, 2021 (also notes that senescence is now recognized to be a driver in COPD)
Thank you for the new details surrounding stenosis.

Thank you so much, Dr. Mork. This information is very timely for me.

Dr. Mork performed this procedure (L4-L5) on me this past Monday at the Crown Valley Surgery Center in Mission Viejo, CA.
I was able to walk with no pain or leg numbness immediately after leaving the surgery center. I'm taking it easy as instructed by Dr. Mork, but also looking forward to getting back to a healthy exercise regime in a month, something I haven't been able to do for the last year. As the video explained, this spinal compression happens over time, because I'm 75 years old, it took awhile, but it got really bad really fast!
I strongly recommend that anyone with this problem should at least have a phone consultation with Dr. Mork before making a final action decision.

If you have a disc drive in your computer, you can do it or just send to office (look at my website).

Hello, I’ve watched a few videos of yours and have enjoyed how informative they are.
I’m 35 yrs old and am about to get a L5- S1 fusion. I’m ver worried about the procedure because I feel it’s going to impact my life for the rest of it. I have multiple level of disc prolapse in the lumbar spine and have seen about 6 - 7 surgeons over the last 2 years. Everyone of them has offered surgery. I fear with the fusion I’m going to suffer from adjacent disc issues because they’re already have annular tears and are herniated.
    Im after some help please.

You are very young for a fusion. My practice is based around avoiding a fusion if at all possible. I don't know enough about your case to render an opinion, so I suggest that you call the office and schedule a phone consultation.

Can you still have stenosis after 2 lumbar fusions? I have been suffering for 10 years now and 2 back surgeries later I'm so much worse than I was before. I'm living in the bed now. Morphine is not touching my pain. I'm being crushed from my lower back to my feet. Burned alive and electrocuted. Groin pain. Sides of both thighs are numb.
Water temperature is different from my knees down

Yes you can still have stenosis. I would call their office and schedule a phone call consultation

I watched this video time after time it’s so captured my mind because when watching the subject you talk about it making me understand about the problems I have for the last few months After a fall while I was washing the steps outside the door way it was only a low fall l slip backwards landed on my hip I was not hurt at that time I thought that was insignificant to course any injury I forgot all about it too
but weeks later the pain came was so severely I could not sit up , I could not lie down or make slight moments without very severe sharp pains my doctor has ordered for a CAT SCAN and MRI the report was like what you were talk about I really with I could make an appointment with you but I’m in Australia you in America. How could it be possible?

Dr. Tony Mork I think it would be better if I do this things first, I gather all the paperwork from my medical reports of the problems of my spinal trauma history for you to see through them first after you have some insight about the spinal problems I have then we can communicate over the phone calls or through messages or email then to see what could lead me to the possible out come is that sounds ok to you Dr Mork?

Very useful. But, as an aside, I pity your medical transcriptionists who have to strain to hear your whispering :D Not a criticism, just a suggestion.

I have severe spinal stenosis and found this info very informative ... btw, found this doc easy to listen to and understand so doubtful any MR transcriptionists would have trouble. Perhaps you would hear him better if you wore ear buds.
