I disagree with those, who want the video taken down, in light of recent proclamations by Harris. Please leave this up! Look at the eyes of this man. There was an unmistakable calmness and sincerity in his eyes back then. Compare that to more recent photos and video. The peace in his eyes is now GONE. Something got to him, and I hope to learn what it is some day.
@@michaelmattson4780 I understand your position, and I don't have much to contribute to that debate. But I do notice a pattern. After Joshua Harris' fall, a significant number of Christian Pundits simply declared him to never be a Christian to begin with. It was quite an eruption. It looked rather like they were circling the wagons to protect something, like maybe a cherished doctrine, which would otherwise be in manifest jeopardy.
@@marbanak Not really, There is no need to protect the doctrine or circle the wagons The bible is abundantly clear on this and you can pull from just two out of the many to answer people leaving the faith, "They WENT from us But THEY WERE NOT OF US, for if they had been TRULY OF US, they would have NO DOUBT remained, But they went to make manifest that they were not truly of us. Jesus also spoke of 3 types of Soils, Some hear the word with joy, and continue in it but then the world Chocks it and it becomes unfruitful, The good soil has root, Jesus is that root. In the last days we also have two groups One group of true faith gets into heaven But then jesus says to the others who shout how much they have WORKED for jesus and done many great things in his name, Jesus says he will plainly explain to them.. I NEVER KNEW YOU. I got saved After assuming I was saved, And it was scary to know that I would have been shocked on judgement day, When the spirit truly comes in, The born again thing is all to real, Within seconds i understood how you can KNOW God, and FEEL/KNOW that you now KNOW HIM. It was night and day. I suddenly changed my actions without trying, My heart wanted different things. I had to actually look up what was happening to me because I did not understand. The gospel didn't PENETRATE MY HEART, My mind knew it, but it was not IN ME, APART OF ME, it wasn't in my heart. When my heart understood the reason for the need of salvation, the sin nature, Our fall and ultimate need of a savior then BAM it all hit me at once and Gods peace fell on me and I knew his spirit just came in and sealed. It felt like concentrated love, Never have I felt that kind of peace and love, And suddenly I understood what it means to say God is Love. Saved/Proclaiming to be saved. Night and Day.
This is such a great sermon and It's so convicting to me to really see how deep my sin can really go, no matter how small or how large I want to label it. #JesusIsLord
Great message, Joshua. I'm delivering one similar on Sunday about judgement, and my sister-in-law showed me this without even knowing. How great is God.
So according to "Once saved always saved" / "Eternal security" Joshua Harris was never a Christian, never saved to begin with.. which is what many people that believe that teaching are saying.. Really? So then that means a man that was devoted to the Lord, loving the gospel, studying and meditating on the Scriptures daily with prayer and shepherding the flock, enjoying the fellowship with other believers (according to those that know Joshua - those that were close to him for many years) - it doesn't necessarily mean he was born again? - but was always a child of the Devil? Well according to that logic/reasoning then, it means most other professing Christians are not saved either. Since they're not even near where he was for many many years... Now when I say this many will start saying. "No, he just appeared outwardly devoted and stuff, but in reality he wasn't." No, this testimony is from those that were close to him for many years, who actually knew him. So either based on the belief of "Once saved always saved" / "Perseverance of the saints", most other professing Christians aren't saved either (and you shouldn't have assurance of salvation) OR, the other possibility is, he was born again, bought by Jesus (2 Pet 2:1) but fell away. And if this is the case ,other believers can have assurance of salvation. They just need to be cautious of falling away like the Bible warns all over the place (Heb 6:4-6).
It's too early to tell. But if there's no redemptive end, if he will not repent until the end, then it will only show that Joshua is an apostate. Until then, let's hope and pray that he repents of his expression of rejection of Christianity.
"it means most professing Christians are not saved either" you are correct! Sad to say but that is exactly the truth! There is no middle ground with God. There are very few that are truly righteous.
Only God knows whether he is a born again child of God. His messages and books meant a lot to me years ago and were a big catalyst in me getting my life right with the Lord and leading me to my wife. Early on in my marriage, I would download his sermons from covenant life church's website and listen to them at work. I pray that he returns to the Lord one day and makes things right with Shannon. He was a great leader in Christianity and influenced a lot of people. Time will only tell whether he has just backslidden or was never really born again. Salvation is a work of the Lord, not of man's works.
The only thing we can do and control is our own actions and hearts. We are to try our best to connect with them, but we cannot force them. Also, if it is not you that has something against someone else, you really cannot dwell upon that. Be sure that your heart and motives are pure towards them and that is the best you can do. I think Romans 12:18 is a great reference for your point, "As much as you can, live in peace with all men." You can only do as much as you can do, beyond that, leave it up to God.
Joshua Harris sadly is no longer a Christian. Some Christians say that you can lose your salvation. That looks like works based salvation though. I'm wondering if he never was born again in the first place? This guy looks like a real believer in this sermon though.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (February 12, Epiphany 6), Matthew 5:21-37 was our Gospel Lesson of the Day.

@Mambo Home I receive your reply as correct, but still unsatisfying. I am now convinced that temptations at College over-took him.
Can we really fall from salvation? If we can, it sure looks like works based salvation. I'm wondering if he was never born again in the first place?

Leave this up as God can and does use apostates and His enemies to speak Truth.
This man renounce Christ in his life... But only God knows everything... May you find your way back to God... brother...
So true. We like to point at others that do bad things but didnt see our own faults.
I appreciate Joshua's sincerity and honesty in this, and how he hold's nothing back. He's just delivering God's truth.

What if we try and the person who has something against me won’t talk to me?
Pray for them, yourself, and the situation.

He probably didn’t get turned off to God - he probably just got tired of the church and the church life itself.

God bless Americans, 😚
What do the poor souls do that had no choice & had to kill during times of war? Those people I pray for every day because they had no choice.
This man is an apostate who has now publicly renounced Christ. Take this down.
