    I added some joint tape on the back as well and it looks pretty cool.

    did you use acrylic black paint to paint over the whole thing? It's cool

      Yes, I use black acrylic paint and wiped over!

    In South Africa.....what is joint tape used for? It look sticky at the back? Can anyone help - probably sold by another name??

    Very nice effect with the cut-outs under metal, but the bling and three-dimensional flowers are excessive IMHO, and hard to keep dust-free. A sealer applied before embellishment would be recommended.

      It is a mesh tape, available in a hardware store!

      A year later...did you ever find the joint tape? It is used at the seems of walls (where dry wall sections meet up) before plaster so that there aren't visible seems. It comes in really big rolls generally where I am. Maybe you have some crafter friends that could go in on a roll? Or just go find a house under construction and see if one of the guys has an end roll you can have. Same with the aluminum tape she used. Construction guys are always very nice and never seem to mind the interruption. Ha ha.
