God, can you imagine being able to pull a Genocide/Snowgrave and conspire with your partner to destroy the world? And Grovyle, like Undyne, stands as the one threat that can oppose you, before the ultimate judge of fate: Wigglytuff.
Only now seeing this but I remember sometime last year I was discussing the concept of a genocide PMD route where literally everyone is against you after a certain point- the plot would completely shift and your partner would constantly be terrified of their actions (basically snowgrave noelle where their main motive is to get stronger). I like to think the starting point for this route would happen during the Expedition arc and would have you and your partner ambush and defeat- or moreso actively hunt down Team Skull. Grovyle's fight would happen a little later than usual, but the main difference would be that by this point the entire guild would have found out about the team's actions. My apologies for the text dump, just wanted to share this! Might try and make it a rom hack somehow
@@BoredRalsei Oh god, if you ever do that, you could make it to where as it progresses, the player character starts talking less and less, growing more cold and distant with each plot point, usually just giving off a "...yeah/"...no/"....go away" in certain scenes, until eventually just going into cold dead silence. (Or maybe go into full deltarune mode and when they grow silent, have moments where instead of saying what you named the player character, Have it describe what they proceed to do, with the desciption dialogue saying "You" instead what you named them.)
The funny thing is this doesn’t actually sound that much different. Always felt like the original had the vibes of a sort of a faithfully remastered version of a non-existent PMD track
So in this universe, the main character and the partner are trying to stop time and grovyle is standing in their way in an attempt to stop it, dialga must not let the tower crumble from the main duo’s attempt at sabotage. Wigglytuff’s guild will either try to change the duo’s hearts or perish trying to stop them. The whole time, Dusknoir is encouraging and buddying up to the duo, only to realize his fatal mistake at the very end of everything and time itself.
i had some similar idea, but in my idea with the Weird Route, The Main Character becomes more cold with our Partner because of us and our goal isn't just to stop time, but take over the power for our own benefit. maybe to warp ourself back to our Human self or take over the Pokémon world. and not only we get to a point where we became most wanted, but at the end after beating the legendary pokémon and Dusknoir, we have one last battle left. our Partner, since they have enough of our plan and how this isn't helping pokémon at all and even tried to change our heart, but couldn't, so using what they learn from our battles, they try to stop us in this world's last chance.
Nah. It's just Grovyle. When you one-shot him, he mega-evolves without evolving. I think that would play into the "sheer determination" aspect better more, plus it could be explained as the time gears themselves also trying to stop you.
Everybody's talking like you'd be with your partner during a theoretical Genocide route, but wouldn't your partner end up trying to stop you instead? There wouldn't be any good equivalent to Undertale, sure, but it'd be tragic, epic and very in-character all at once..
The partner could be a phase 1 of the final battle before dialga, and phase 2 could be Wigglytuff who comes to support your partner. It'd be a battle I'd really want to lose, as those two are the ones I cherished the most.
Ooh fighting your partner would be a really cool concept, especially for players that put a lot of time and resourves into their partner making them stronger. I played as eevee and had a vulpix partner who i beefed the hell up to cover eevee's shortcomings, it would be a difficult battle. Even cooler if maybe your partner could access the same items as you since you share a treasure bag

Since you have 2 teammates, maybe you manipulate one, and the other turns on you to stop this? Kinda like berdley, or potentially Susie? (There’s a tiny theory that Susie will eventually go against you and megalovania plays)

As your partner places their faith in you, grovyle spites you- he tells you his partner, the human from the future… would stop you lo matter what. That he has faith. You smirk. Before grovyle is finished, you reveal… that you ARE that human.
"Ugh! My full power wasn't enough, but... I'm sure my partner will stop you, and finish our mission." * You laugh, because you just remembered. You're his partner. And now you remember your mission. * But you still need to get stronger too. You take Grovyle's time gears, you'll need them later. * You explain to your partner what you remembered, that you came from the future with Grovyle to stop the planet's paralysis.
Imagine everyone thinks that you are the reason that the world is going to end but they can't do anything because even when they all work together, you defeated them.
If you wanna be increadibly strict, its kinda "taken" from Touhou actually. The entire Song is inspired by the Franchises OST, with the Instrument used at that point being just as iconic to Touhou, as the Violin is to PMD2

After all, his actions were out of self-preservation: Dusknoir's goal was to ensure that his timeline, the bad future, came to pass, so he and his master wouldn't be erased from time. In this Genocide Route, he's encouraging you because your actions seem to be leading towards his bad future, but then in the end he realizes your final goal is killing Dialga, destroying all futures, even the bad future, which does indeed put him on the chopping block. Darkrai, I suppose, is the Chara equivalent? The one who ACTUALLY wants you to finish your goal, and probably takes over what's left of the world at the end once you're through with it.

It's Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, I definitely recommend it...try to play Sky if you can as it has extra content that makes the already memorable story and characters even better.
