Wow. Just… wow. This video legitimately had me in tears. Has my life’s work amounted to this? Am I fated to forever be on the cover of the OBJECTIVE worst Weezer album? Whenever I close my eyes, I think back to the jump in 2009. After years of training and failed attempts, I had finally done it; I took in all the incredible sights of the living room as I soared through the air in the most rad way possible. When I won that NatGeo photo competition, when Rivers chose me to be on the cover of Weezer’s new album… I was on top of the world. But then the reviews came in. I then devoted my life to passionately defending Raditude as a misunderstood masterpiece, a brilliant work of art. But sometimes it becomes too much. And as I sit here writing this, I’m starting to think, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I need to stop fighting and let Anthony Fantano and all the other philistines on TH-cam have their way….
No. I refuse to give in. Not only will I maintain my stance on Raditude, but I will double down on Raditude 2: Still Partying. This WILL be the OBJECTIVE best Weezer album. I will get features from every generic pop-rapper in the game, help Rivers write the most epic lyrical poetry, and find the most overblown synthesizers The Girl from Pacific Daydream has in her “stuff to never use” folder in the laptop that I stole. Prepare for an epic magnum opus, the Morbius of rock albums, the best, most epicest party extravaganza your ears will ever be blessed with.
Or I could just get Butch to throw something together. That might be easier. Anyways, time to get back to partying! I told The Lawn Gnome from Pinkerton that there would be Asian girls at this party. Cheers! -Sidney

Teal struck up me pretty weird since it's idea came from a one lone girl from Iowa who wanted Weezer to cover Africa by Toto, at the time when it was a meme, she made a twitter acc to promote it, it went viral, weezer responded and covered the song, which is nice yeah? but for them to cover one song as a fan request, to them deciding to make an entire cover album is just baffling to me, why? no one said "wow weezer made a good cover of africa, why not cover other songs you like?" it's just weird.

The way I see it, the band had a lot of fun covering those two Toto songs, and wanted to try it some more. At this point, the band is just having fun with their music, and decided to just give it as a nice little surprise while black was on the horizon. I can see the negative effect it may have, but I enjoy it a lot purely due to the main energy from the band.

Your mention of Make Believe having its sound crushed down so the songs would be cohesive together made me seek out some of the demos for tunes like Haunt You and Hold Me and now I wish we had an album with that production. Dude sounds like he's having a genuinely hard time and Haunt You sounds genuinely massive and heavy. Lyrics still aren't the best but I think there's something special in some of those.

My friends and I still talk about the day we skipped school and drove to Best Buy to buy and listen to Make Believe the day it dropped. We listened to it twice back to back because, I don't know, maybe we thought we listened to it wrong? "We should've just gone to class" was and still is our consensus.
That said, I didn't quit Weezer until Raditude, an album so bad that I didn't give Weezer another chance until White Album, and I didn't even go back and listen to EWBAITE or Hurley until I was stuck quarantining during the pandemic. Raditude just broke me.

Van Weezer is weird because it’s not like Rivers is unfamiliar with metal. He made some solid Shrapnel-style metal in Avant-garde/Zoom, so I don’t know why he just made a nondescript Weezer album with a occasional dive bomb. His use of autotune in recent years is also annoying, it’s not like he needs it, it only makes his voice sound gross and artificial

There's no Weezer song that I hate. Except for fucking Beverly Hills. This song hurts. I can't stand the almost speaking like quality Rivers' voice has in the verse, and then It breaks into the chorus. I hate that goddamn chorus. I hate it so much. But, I still love everything else Weezer has ever done, even if some of it is cringey or poppy- I love this band so much.

I was in middle school around the time The Red Album and Raditude came out and my parents even took me the the Blink 182-Weezer concert at Shoreline in September of 2009. I knew of Blue, I knew of Make Believe, and I knew of Green. Raditude and the Red Album defined my middle school years and I've listened to Weezer growing up since. We talk about Subjective and Objective, damn Weezer changes when life changes. I used to love tracks like Girl Got Hot because that was the story of most of the girls I knew going into High School. Tracks like Pink Triangle and Slob are a little more adult and talk about relationships in ways a middle schooler wouldn't understand. They're just fun tracks to listen to. Now older, I appreciate albums like EWBAITE and Maladroit because damn I understand them, I grew up and went through angst and the workforce. Art and music will always be subjective, and we may not ever like the same Weezer songs again as we get older or wiser.
If You're Wondering If I Want You To needed an official Sara Bareilles featured recording and I love that track fight me.

Was in middle school when Blue came out and I fell in lobe with weezer. Then Pinkerton came out in '96 when I was a sophomore and it blew my mind. And, yet, people didn't get it when I did. I kind I'd knew at that time that people were mostly daft. But, of course I am from SC and that is the norm, right? Anyway, green was an anthem to my beginning of college, and while overproduction was the way with this Album, I loved it and Oh, Girlfriend was the song that I played over and over when I went through a huge heartbreak. 'I MISS U AND I WONDER HOW U FEEL ABOUT ME TOO' I love U Rivers. Always. You are my angel and savior.

The first I had heard or seen anything from the album was the live versions of If You're Wondering with Sara Bareilles and I'm Your Daddy with Kenny G. Red is my favourite post-Pinkerton album. So it's weird for me because I've always felt like I'm the one and only hardcore Red fan on the planet. To me it's Weezer at their most tongue-in-cheek and also at their most self celebratory. Something I think was best encapsulated by The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived, one of their all time best deep cuts imo.
Outside of the Brian/Pat/Scott songs I really don't think there's a single bad track on it. If you make your own track list and replace them with three of the Deluxe tracks then what you're left with is a perfect album.

I can tell you why it’s good.
      • I’m Your Daddy and Girl Got Hot are super fun pop tunes. The lyrics being so ridiculous sets those songs apart from being too generic. If you can enjoy the songs instead of hoping for a rock masterpiece, they are fun.
      • Can’t Stop Partying has really fun backing vocals. That’s all I got for it. The version found on the Weezer iTunes EP is legitimately fantastic though. It has loud electric guitars and slap bass.
      • Put Me Back Together and I Dont Want to Let You Go are pretty sad and they have good pop tunes. They remind me of when that sound was popular and they remind me of lonely winters. I really connect with them.
      • Trippin Down the Freeway has a really fun payoff in the last chorus, and I love the melody of the chorus. Also, the 08, 09, and 0’10 joke is funny.
      • Let it all Hang Out is just fun. Would have fit on Hurley.

I’d say there is a sorta consensus on red of it being the Beatles white album of weezer. On a lower scale of course (both as in less songs and less good) but A.very experimental and B.very inconsistent. Most agree Greatest Man, Angel and the One, and Pork and Beans are good. Most agree Thought I Knew, Cold Dark World, and Everybody Get Dangerous are bad. The other 4 are more divisive but especially if you include b sides it’s an album where most agree at least a third of it is good to great and at least like 20% is at best filler and often outright bad

As a metal head, I would say Maladroit is more heavy metal than Van Weezer. I think metal fans would generally think VW more as glam rock. VW has some fun lead work, but it lacks the sort of heavy riffs that Maladroit has that makes it feel more metal.

I knew Raditude would be last. I knew it was coming, and I prepared myself for disappointment. And then, lo and behold: Raditude in last place. My first Weezer song I ever heard was Put Me Back Together, and It was in the very early stages of my life. I was a little kid and my parents only played it when we were cleaning. Then I heard it again in middle school, and I cried. It was so nostalgic and beautiful. Put Me Back Together became my favorite song, my personality, and the only thing I would listen to during rough times, and it still is. Then, I later got very VERY into Weezer. I listened to all of Raditude, and I appreciated it. I saw it as good ol' fun. I thought the album was upbeat, fun, and a real connection with what unashamed fun really can be as a youth. I even saw it as funny in a way. It slowly became beloved to me. It's not my favorite album from Weezer- that spot goes to blue. However, Put Me Back Together is still my favorite piece of music I've ever heard, and Raditude is dear to me.
And that was Raditude from the perspective of a lover of the most hated album ever. Enjoy.

I think the problem with most Weezer albums after Pinkerton is the song selection (besides White and EWBAITE). Instead of making classic albums, they made average albums with amazing bonus tracks.

Wow, I just spent 12 and a half minutes just to learn that it's Weezer and it's Weezy. What a ripoff.
jokes aside, it was cool to see the different reasonings behind each ranking, and compare them to my personal ranks despite my somewhat incomplete catalog. I am currently up to 2016 for albums (+ OK Human and SZNZ: Autumn [yes I know this is not an album], specifically _not_ deluxe albums because then I can go back and listen to all the good stuff I missed out on...or bad stuff idk) and the rankings of the pop stuff seems to be a warning... but maybe I'll like or even love them! you never know unless you try
anyway, I have to go lie on the floor and listen to Can't Stop Partying (Nightcore) for the next 12 hours to -numb myself to all human emotion- prove the greatness of Raditude in all forms and break away from the hivemind

but fr this both of these videos have not surprised me. but i do wonder where szns would've fit if it was considered an album, as well as death to false metal which i personally believe to be the most unlistenable collection of songs that has ever had the nerve to call itself an album

I don’t think The Red Album is that bad. Pork & Beans, Dreamin’, Thought I Knew (the MTV 2008 live version) and Heart Songs are ok, even if some of the lyrics are a bit stupid or simple.
About Make Believe, some of the hate is justifiable. Beverly Hills, My Best Friend and Hold Me are just plain disappointing.
However, “This Is Such A Pity”, “The Damage In Your Heart”, “Perfect Situation” and especially “Haunt You Every Day” are some genuinely nice songs.
The only song I can really listen on a tiny rotation from Raditude is “Put Me Back Together”, just because it sounds ok and it doesn’t piss me off. “If you’re wondering” is not that good of a song, imo. It’s a meh start.

Now, Hear me out, I haven't listened to every Weezer album, I haven't even listened to all of Raditude, But it is not scientifically possible that Raditude is the worst Weezer album, For one simple reason: It has "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To" on it. That song is an absolute banger, You can try to knock it, But you will always fail. The rest of the album could be the worst songs Weezer's ever made by far, But even then that one song would give the album merit.
