  • In this video, I go over the process of creating custom tables used to roll random events, treasure, weather, etc. I start with a weather example, and over time I will add in additional examples.

Also players will see the rolls from your table if you have the option to show DM rolls set to on. When that option is set to on you will get an eye icon on the table next to the roll button which you can use to hide the output from your players.

Yup, that is shown in video within the campaign tutorial series, but I'll see if I can update this video to add that level of detail here.

Is it now possible to have tables defined globally outside of a campaign to be used in multiple campaigns? E.g. weather, treasure, encounters could be used in multiple campaigns and I don't want to copy/paste the table into multiple campaigns.
I would also like to know, if Smiteworks has any plans on translating the GUI into other languages.

@Daniel Clemens, its possible, what you can do is create a series of tables that reference those other elements, then export that one set of tables as a module of their own. You can then simply import that module as needed.
As for the transaction, I honestly do not know, I don't work directly with Smiteworks, in that I'm not an employee, but I do periodically record videos for them.

Looking for tables that will create a random encounter....like a wilderness encounter where the roll chooses that NPC's to attack a party camping out, etc.....can't seem to locate these tables....or maybe a video on how to create a random encounter table....thanks!

@TXCBOY 36, if you click on the encounters button, at the top left of that window that pops up is another button called Random. That is where you will find the most effective random tables. The more supplements you have open, the more options will be available within that list.

@TXCBOY 36, no problem, I always seem to forget where they are when I need em, but always remember when someone else does :>. Thank you for asking, and the support to the channel :>

Players cannot create their own tables. The only things players can create are characters and notes.
Both your methods work but there is an important difference. If you drag and drop the tables in then your table will need the child tables to be in the same campaign. If you use square brackets then the table can be in any open module in the campaign. Thus using square brackets is more flexible in that if you exported your table into a module you can use the table in any other campaign as long as the child tables are also open in that campaign. So, for example you could reference the treasure tables in the DMG. If you drag and drop and export you will also need to export the child tables as well in order to preserve the links.

      Hi Philip,
Thank you for confirming that, I was unsure if players could create tables as I had not yet tried to do that. An excellent explanation on the differences between dragging in the sheet vs using the square brackets, that helps.

Is there a way to link a table to a class? I created a new class for a specific Barbarian path because it is not available in FG and need to have a table setup linked to it for one of the abilities I get once I choose the path

@Russell Wright, Should be able to, you could use the Sorcerer's Wild Magic class as the example, as they have a table setup for the wild magic effects when ever a character of that class casts a spell.

Can the tables use other information to create a result? For example take information from the calendar and adjust the chances of different weather based on the season, or look at a previous roll of weather and create a weighted change.

Hi Hyss, Unfortunately I don't believe they can, as they tables are generally triggered by a role of some kind.
