Vocal technique takes a long time to develop, its cool to actually see an accurate Representation of him working for that, because lets be honest, some people are just naturally Talented and others have to learn, its nice to see him as a vocalist improving over a long period of time like that he did the strug. people confuse pitch and tone a lot, which gets more confusing with terms like tone-deaf, where in vocal theory there's a clear difference between Pitch and tone. Glad you point that out.
I currently sing like Vic during the selfish machines era, but less nasally. It's really whiny, and I tend to put a lot of pressure down by my throat. I like so sing a lot, and pretty much break out into a whole musical whenever I feel like it, but sometimes if I sing to much I end up really hurting my voice. My current technique definitely is not super healthy for my voice, and I'm trying to change it :')
It was good to see this. Very inspiring. A lot of times I feel like giving up out of frustration and embarrassment. But we love it so we gotta keep going, right? Nothing good comes easy I suppose. Thanks for doing what you do Doug
I totally agree his new tone sounds great its cool seeing him improve his technique, but i get why people miss the old technique. in a way it makes me think of Hayley Williams older songs vs newer, she sings healthier now too, and kate bush even! in all these examples, I like how both techniques sound, but I favor having that theater in your voice, it is so fun, which vics older albums really have.
this is really nice to watch .. all the transformation and interviews were really interesting... thank you for compiling those! can i request an Alex Gaskarth version of this video please? :)
If Vic ever sadly retires we got his replacement right here ^^^ incredible can we have a Doug and Vic Collab 🤞 seriously incredible video though thank you 👏
Jax LaPoint agreed. i listen to oceans ate alaska, heard each and every songs they put out even their first (crap quality home recording) ep but only one of their music videos I haven't watched but i've been listening to them since 2014. I guess I'm not a "real fan" xD
Vic is praising the fuck out of Anthony Green😍 love the Circa and Saosin praise, Circa is my favorite band along with early Saosin and the reason I actually still enjoy Pierce the Veil unlike all the other scene post hardcore music is probably that influence too
The first band he mentions singing high is circa survive and now him and anthony green are two of my biggest inspirations, amazing. I can’t sing nearly as high as either of them so that’s fucked.
I really enjoyed this video, I really did, but I need some tips I've been listening to Artists such as: Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil, Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco, Three Days Grace, Imagine Dragons, Paramore, Walk The Moon, Foster The People, and plenty more. All of what I have listed screamed/high pitched notes As for me, I'm a girl, but have a somewhat low pitched voice to where as I scream or hit high pitched notes, it either doesn't sound right, or I just can't hit the right point of the octave. Plenty of other girls have a fairly pitched voice to where as it's decent for them to work Ariana Grande and Justin Beiber songs. So what do I do to help improve my vocals? Vocal warm-ups? Vocal practices Thanks in advanced, and if you can't, it's okay :)
Nice, yes you can upload it to a hosting website then link me it to my email address off my website. Or you can send me a singing clip over snapchat from your camera roll/phone gallery
hey doug is your snapchat still active? i want to send you a singing clip so you can let me know where i lack of :) and very inspiring video I always wanted to reach vics range :(
Yeah people think lower larynx = lower pitch because you kept dropping to a lower register when explaining it. But the concept itself threw me - it is easier to understand just to say like.. open at the back of the throat (low larynx) vs tight/closed (high larynx). So rather than where the larynx is the idea is... where the sound is, what shape it lives in. How much chest/mouth/jaw does it get vs. how much nasal/head. The best natural/untrained singers are probably more familiar with this.
When you say its more healthy to sing in a more neutral tone where he drops the larynx does that mean if he continued to sing that style he would eventually damage his voice?
It’s as if he reversed puberty bc he sounded like Billie joe Armstrong and the same thing goes with Shawn milke and even Jonny Craig before dance Gavin dance
Nikolas Tesla yes, I do know who AFI is, I used to listen to them. What makes you think that PTV are AFI wannabes? Also, the wrist slitting thing didn't really make sense.
Well that’s just your opinion, because many people will disagree including me. Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be singing because many people genuinely enjoy it, if you don’t like it don’t listen :)
something about vics voice makes me obsessed with the band
same..
@@vampedtone like a drug
Same bestie
His scream like high pitched voice can give you quite emotion. He is kickass guitarist and talented singer.
Early Vic definitely sounds like Billie Joe Armstrong
both are my idols lmfao
Yesssssss

MY FIRST THOUGHT
oh fuck he was in a punk band in 1999? thats fuckin rad
Bruh this whole time I thought he lowered his pitch...mind blown
It's easily confused :)
I am Prodigy that makes me sad he was much better singer with a high voice
Is it just me or does early vic sound like billie Joe?
You mean Billy Joe Armstrong?

Vic in Early Times sounded really Mexican
Carmella Papa because he is
How does someone sound Mexican. Lol not everyone is Mexican. People these days
RJ Villa uhhhh.. :I
Carmella Papa You spelled "gay" wrong.

This is really intresting to see, this motivates a lot to learn to sing better
Yeah that's the idea :D

Exactly why I made the video!
Really great vocal analysis of Vic's voice through out the years you made here!!
That gave me so much hope 😂 when he said I didn’t start off singing good
I totally agree his new tone sounds great its cool seeing him improve his technique, but i get why people miss the old technique. in a way it makes me think of Hayley Williams older songs vs newer, she sings healthier now too, and kate bush even! in all these examples, I like how both techniques sound, but I favor having that theater in your voice, it is so fun, which vics older albums really have.

Great video dude 👌 just noticed you uploaded on my birthday wich makes it better in so many ways 🖤
Doug, this video is honestly amazing. It's so inspiring for me to see how Vic has improved and I've taken in heavily what you have said!
Thank you. That was the goal of this video, I will make more for other artists :)
Awesome!!!!
I've only listened to King for a Day, but this is really interesting. I'm definitely gonna listen to more songs
I never noticed that huge change between KFAD and Bulletproof Love.
Jaime is such a good guy man. Amazing video. The difference is night and day and currently it’s almost as though the voice has more power behind it.
today i found one of those old performance videos recommended and omg they’ve grown so much (; - ;)
Happy early birthday to the talented Vic!😊
An excellent video great work!
Thank you!
Woahhh cool vid, I'm subscribed for more!
I actually don't know these guys very well but I am intrigued! Sounds like cool songs and emotional vox.
that bulletproof love improvement was INSANE HOLY SHIT. HE SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER IN THE READING LIVE FESTIVAL. SO SUPPORTED
He's just perfect the way he is 😭😭😭😭😭😭😍😍😍
If Vic ever sadly retires we got his replacement right here ^^^ incredible can we have a Doug and Vic Collab 🤞 seriously incredible video though thank you 👏
6:14 mike was a lil to happy 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can I just say that I've seen all those videos before, that's how you know I'm a real pierce the veil fan
meh
You don’t need to have watched every single pierce the veil video in existence to be a “real fan”
Jax LaPoint agreed. i listen to oceans ate alaska, heard each and every songs they put out even their first (crap quality home recording) ep but only one of their music videos I haven't watched but i've been listening to them since 2014. I guess I'm not a "real fan" xD
CosmicNightOwl I've been listening since 2007. I guess that means I'm a real ptv fan.
I can say the same, they're si great 💕
0:57 "FUENTEZ" IN THE DESCRIPTION IM DONE
Vic is praising the fuck out of Anthony Green😍 love the Circa and Saosin praise, Circa is my favorite band along with early Saosin and the reason I actually still enjoy Pierce the Veil unlike all the other scene post hardcore music is probably that influence too
in Before Today he had more of a punk or Billie Armstrong sound.
King For A Day is my fav by far
can you do a video like this on m.shadows from A7X
Viva Vic 🍾
Doug Zed, Vic Fuentes's biggest fan.
he's got competition over here
The first band he mentions singing high is circa survive and now him and anthony green are two of my biggest inspirations, amazing.
I can’t sing nearly as high as either of them so that’s fucked.
2:17 Song has a At the drive in vibe to it.
Literally have a pierce the veil tattoo I got when I was 15 without permission lmfao I STILL LOVE VIC . I’m 21 now HMU Vic haha jk
Can you post the link to the article of Vic's statement on practicing his voice?
I really enjoyed this video, I really did, but I need some tips

Lydia Petrou Yes definitely! It's the same style of vocal techniques
Theeee Weeknd live vocal performances 2011-2017
Yeah people think lower larynx = lower pitch because you kept dropping to a lower register when explaining it. i am in love with him it is not even funny anymore
You are so real
Only Kellin Quinn has a higher voice than Vic.
Damn, late puberty hit hard
King for a day has Kelvin Quinn in it
When you say its more healthy to sing in a more neutral tone where he drops the larynx does that mean if he continued to sing that style he would eventually damage his voice?
Make one about Alex Gaskarth
I heard carapherneila and I’m like bye I’m leaving
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Vic in Early Times sounds like Green Day in 1990 or something like that..
Forget vic dude your voice is the shit !
Lol thanks!
@@Dougzed Your voice tone is very light I'rs awesome you cluld do PTV covers for sure

In Early Times he sounded like he was trying to hard to be Green Day
do billy joe from greenday vocal transformation from kermit the frog
1999...

It’s as if he reversed puberty bc he sounded like Billie joe Armstrong and the same thing goes with Shawn milke and even Jonny Craig before dance Gavin dance

Please make a reaction for indonesian emo band (killing me inside)
The song tittle is "the tormented"
i wanna do this wtf
He sounds like Billie Joe from Green Day
Vic's early music was like,,punk and it was dope but i prefer ptv's new post-hardcore sound
Post hardcore is just punk with screams
Bro i love his voice but did anyone notice that Vic in 1999 sounds like Billie joe armstrong like i can hear the hell in that
michael jagmin version of this video
DO ALEX GASKARTH
6:22 lmao 102,103 views
I miss Vic's voice during the Selfish Machines era 😔
It was definitely the most unique we've ever heard his voice. He doesn't sound exactly like that on any other albums except Selfish Machines!
At 02:24 he sounds like George Way mcr
George?
@@chaseclarkemusic yes
Don't you mean Gerard?
q coñas 😲
Love the video but that CPU fan sound in the background is distracting.
Lana Del Rey vocal transformation?? please..
First.
Everything was shit instead of the first
*cough* he butchered Vics last name
Uh...
(x) doubt
Dez Roberts that's how it's actually pronounced in Spanish...
AFI wannabes
Nikolas Tesla um, no.
Br0xstarr how are they not? Do you even know who AFI is? I doubt it since they didn't slit their wrists every 4 seconds.
Nikolas Tesla yes, I do know who AFI is, I used to listen to them. What makes you think that PTV are AFI wannabes? Also, the wrist slitting thing didn't really make sense.
Nikolas Tesla there just noway you can close to davey his voice is just unreachable
what??? u trippin
Please don't imitate the singer that way the viewer can just compare Vic's change in sound
He shouldn't be singing. His lyrics are lame and he has no voice to sing. Its annoying to hear someone sing with that whiny sound
I don't think you should have an opinion with a name like that
Well that’s just your opinion, because many people will disagree including me. Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be singing because many people genuinely enjoy it, if you don’t like it don’t listen :)
