Jess is 34-years-old, autistic, and blind. Her favorite topic of conversation is her new dog and when she will be getting the next new dog. Jess collects CD’s of children’s music, cards, coloring books, and has a small collection of used up disposable cameras. Favorite health foods include chicken and rice, chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, chicken biscuits, pepperoni pizza, and hash brown potatoes. Jess has naturally curly hair that she would rather not ever comb, brush, or cut.
Jessica’s multiple disabilities stem from brain damage that occurred in-utero, and from hydrocephalus. In addition to autism and blindness, Jess also has minor fine motor and gross motor deficits. Hannah is Jessica's sister, and Marlow is Jessica's paid support staff (and Hannah's best friend.) Jess also has a brother who lives in another state.
Wow, it's so touching how moved ppl are to take the time & energy to use their talents to make such personal & thoughtful gifts!
I love watching Jess learn. She loves her coloring books. Jess is such an amazing young gal and Valerie you are fabulous with her.

Val, When Jessica was looking through the coloring book, does she not no what the pages have on then. That she has to ask what's on each page. I know she can see a little bit. She sure gets excited when opening the packages

Hi! Honest question and just curious. Why is Jess able to see certain things and know what they are but with other things she can’t? I know she is legally blind, but I just found it interesting! Is it by touch and feel? Or does she just like to sometimes ask what things are when she usually does know?
I saw her reading some letter cards one day that spelled out words and seemed like she could see then without using brail

I just recently found your channel a few weeks ago and been binge watching since. I watch every new video and watching previous ones every chance I get. I’m so in love with Jess already! She’s the sweetest and videos like this show how much she appreciates others caring just over the simplest things. I’ve been going through a lot of rough times lately and she brightens my days with her glowing, special, funny personality.
How am I able to send something for her? I looked under the description but I don’t see a address to do so.
She is so blessed to have all the loving support that she does, and you all are so blessed too to have an amazing person as Jess is in your life.
And by the way, I love all your accents. 😄

I would love to talk to you both! I have a 14 year old, level 3 autistic, verbal daughter. What types of life skills training. You have such patience and I feel as though I don't have enough with my Daughter.
Remember, I've had lots and lots of practice. I definitely lose my patience sometimes.
Teaching life skills is very challenging for various reasons. I'm thinking we'll be doing some videos on how we work on them.

Jessica is blind. She asks what is this because she can't see. Val is telling her what things are so she knows. I really don't think it bothers Val.
