Dearest Miranda, the only reason I didn't miss you so much was that I have been binge-watching your previous videos throughout the whole weekend. Nevertheless, I really appreciate you're back with your book recommendations. I hope your're feeling better now. 🥰

My husband and I run a Free Little Library and I came across the first book in a series of five called "The Penderwicks" by Jeanne Birdsall about 4 sisters and their father who go to stay at a cottage on the estate called Arundel. I loved it and immediately bought the next 4 books and have read all of them. I highly recommend them and wonder if anyone else has read them. Always enjoy your content!

    Dear Miranda,
Thank you so much for your lovely video! I hope you will soon be feeling well again! This week, I had a lovely package coming from suselandco, who I got to know from your friendly recommendations. It was a bit tricky to order from them, since on their website they only ship to the uk and the us. But they kindly offered me to handle everything via etsy and it worked out perfectly. Since I was their first customer from Germany they even put a couple of surprises into my parcel. I was so delighted!! I never would have known them, if it wasn't for you. Thank you for all you do, you are a true gem and inspiration for my life. I read a lot of your recs in February: the Nonesuch, war among ladies, High Rising, Christmas at High Rising, Emma (again) and others. I wish you and your mother a lovely week ahead!

As always, I enjoyed your book recommendations and mini reviews of what you've been reading. I've read such wonderful books recently - a reread of Rebecca (brilliant!!) and some fun, lighthearted novels: Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day in addition to the CBC's The Nonesuch. All brightened these late winter days and gave me the feeling that Spring is indeed on it's way. Enjoy your week! 🌷

A short story that was actually turned into an opera is The Light in the Piazza by Elizabeth Spencer. It's a beautiful and timeless story which takes place in 1953. It's an American mother from the South and her daughter in Italy. I think you would enjoy it.

What a lot of wonderful recommendations - I especially love the sound of A World Within a School and both the Slightly Foxed books, and The Reunion has been on my list since spoke so eloquently about it previously. I also have The Game of Hearts out from my library, it sounds fascinating, I’m really looking forward to reading it. You describe books so well I always want to rush out to find them straight away! I’ve recently finished India Knight’s Darling which I absolutely adored, as soon as I finished it I wanted to start it again. I loved all the characters so much and she captured the feel of the original book perfectly whilst updating it so cleverly. So funny too, I was laughing aloud at times - the three page list of Uncle Matthew’s hates was hilarious!

Miranda, I also love 'The Simple Things ' magazine - it's a lovely, positive read, isn't it? Mind you, we Australians have only just received the Christmas edition! I keep meaning to subscribe to 'The Scribbler', so I will get organised with that. I have attempted a few times to send you a Super Thanks, but I'm having issues with PayPal - hoping to get it sorted. Thanks for all these great reviews for February, and may March see you in good health!

    Hi Miranda,
What a treat to find your latest vlog. So glad you are feeling more yourself again. You are looking quite lovely in that gorgeous turquoise patterned blouse and the headband.
Such a lovely list of books you read in February. I've now reserved a copy at the library of your much recommended Daughter of the Moon Goddess. I loved the descriptions you shared about it. And, I ordered The Nonesuch by Georgette Heyer several weeks ago to read along with the Comfort Book Club in February. Alas I am still awaiting its arrival to Canada from the UK. Maybe it will be here this week. I read many of Georgette Heyer's books in my 20s and 30s which is a few decades ago now. I look forward to revisiting her writing.
Thanks so much for all the wonderful recommendations. It's because of your lovely descriptions that my own bookshelf now burgeons with delightful new books to read. What fun!
Wishing you a beautiful week ahead.

Another lovely video, I look forward to these every week. A highlight for me in February was seeing The Sleeping Beauty performed by the Royal Ballet. Such a lovely production and I've been thinking about it non stop since I saw it. Most of the books I have on ballet are non-fiction, often memoirs of dancers or books about ballets or ballet companies. I wondered you had any recommendations for fiction about ballet, especially any mid century books from the 30s 40s and 50s? Of course there is ballet shoes, always wonderful, but I'm curious to find some new titles and authors? All the best and I hope you have a more peaceful week this week!

Hi Miranda, happy March! 🌸 I'm glad that you feel better and that you are back to chat with us! 🤗 I'm intrigued by All Sort of Lives, which I ordered last week upon your mention of it in another video, and by True to Both My Selves. The Slightly Foxed editions do look wonderful! Somehow I couldn't focus on reading in Feb as much as I wanted to, but I did enjoy Bill Bryson's The Road to Little Dribbling, and I am now reading The Sleeping Beauties by Suzanne O'Sullivan. I recommend both, if you like the genres. All the best to you and to your mum /Vanessa 🌞

Happy Sunday, Miranda, so lovely to see you. I want to read Reunion based on your previous video, and of course, the remaining Miss Buncle books. I’ve been hearing quite a bit about Daughter of the Moon Goddess and I’m anxious to read that book also. A World Within a School intrigues me as does The Game of Hearts, especially as a companion book to the fiction books. I had added the Mansfield biography and the Countryman’s book after a previous video. Now I’ll be looking for the spring book. I love hearing your views of the books you’re reading and always come away with a list of books I now must have. I hope you have a lovely week💕🌷🌷🌷

I'm a new viewer, and I am enjoying your videos very much! I inherited a book collection a few years ago (2,500+ titles) which I catalogued, but I haven't made a dent in it as far as reading goes. I've only watched a handful of episodes so far and you've already helped me get much more out of this beautiful collection. It's been a lot of fun to search my catalog for titles you recommend because even if I don't have the book, I sometimes have other books by the same author (which, I realize, may be books you wouldn't necessarily recommend!). Though I've always loved books and had a decent collection of my own, I have felt a bit overwhelmed by this new-to-me collection (most of which I haven't read before). You're helping me zone in on some specific items, and that has been really helpful. For example, I just pulled The Pursuit of Love off the shelf to read before Darling, as you suggested in your Top 10 of 2022 video. My copy includes Love in a Cold Climate, as well, so double the enjoyment maybe? Thank you so much, and I'll certainly be back for more!

I can't wait for those two Katherine Mansfield books to arrive in the post, as well as this spring's Slightly Foxed. That cover art! I recently enjoyed The Chaise Lounge and Little Boy Lost. They have been calling to me for a while, and once I read one, I had to read the other. They're both so haunting. I'm eager to read The Village next. The pretty fabric you're wearing reminds me of Persephone endpapers. Whenever I order one of their books, I'm almost as excited for the endpapers as I am for the book itself. Thank you for all of these tempting reads! I hope you're feeling much better moving into next week. 🌷📚

I'm currently reading A Countryman's Winter Notebook by Bell, based on one of your past videos. It's wonderful. I was reading "The Skaters" last night before bed. I loved it, especially the part when his wife is looking for something after he told her he was going to skate and, after pestering her regarding what she was looking for, she said the splints they had from the war. Ha! That made me laugh! I'm so glad to hear there's another book out and simply must buy it! March is definitely "a gust of wind flinging grit"! Thank you for sharing! Hi, Miranda. Thanks so much for the recommendation for Fred Uhlman's Reunion. I just finished reading it on Friday and can't stop thinking about it. It was not until the last line that I could actually understand the relevance of the title of the book. I found that I couldn't move for about 30 minutes after I finished.
I also read Pip William's The Dictionary of Lost Words, which covers the 40 years during which the Oxford English Dictionary was compiled, and Kate Quinn's The Diamond Eye, which is about a WWII Soviet woman sniper. I highly recommend both of them if you haven't read them already.
I hope you are feeling better and enjoying the arrival of spring!

Hello Miranda! February for me was a Katherine Mansfield month. I read All sorts of lives, plus a Spanish translation of her journal, which was really bad so I turned to the original journal in English. I also read a compilation of selected entries of her journal, letters and miscellanea notes she'd written in her notebooks over the years. It's also a Spanish translation published here in Argentina, called 'Plum soup' and, for a change, taken from her original manuscripts, the ones who weren't crassly edited and censured by her husband. It was really eye opening. The last book I picked up was her biography by Claire Tomalin, which I'm still reading because it's quite long and very intense!

Hi Miranda! It's always lovely to have a reading catch-up with you. I also read A Lady's Guide to Fortune-Hunting in February and liked but didn't love it. It's hard for anyone to compare to Georgette Heyer, or even some of the more old-school Regency romance authors like Carla Kelly or Mary Balogh. Daughter of the Moon Goddess sounds really good! I'm not much of a fantasy reader usually, but every now and then one strikes my fancy. I read Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries in February and really loved it. So far this month I've finished Love in a Cold Climate by Nancy Mitford and The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White, both of which were excellent. I hope you feel better soon! I'm just getting over being ill too, and it's hard to get back into the swing of things! Take care. ❤

I ordered the Katherine Mansfield books on your recommendation and they will be my April projects. ❤️

Hi Miranda, I enjoy your book recommendation videos. I found “The Simple Things” magazine in my Libby app, so will be looking through that with my tea this afternoon. Wishing you a lovely restorative week.

I am glad you are feeling better and watched your video with pleasure as usual. Lately, I read" Arabella" by G Heyer, a funny read, and a thriller quite gripping, "the perfect woman" by JP Delaney, which talks of a robot endowed with emotional intelligence ; I am currently reading "Venetia" by G Heyer and "Strawberry shortcake murder" by Joanna Fluke, a nice cosy mystery. Have a good week.

So wonderful to have you back Miranda, I have really missed you but completely understand the need to look after yourself. I’m interested to read the Moon Goddess after hearing your review, I have picked it up a couple times but haven’t been too sure. I have birthday money burning a hole in my pocket though so it is on my list. X

So lovely to see you again, Miranda 💐 Incredibly interesting video. I love The Scribbler - which you introduced some time ago. So much so, that I've been slowly buying all the back issues. I'll order their new book soon. I've been reading The Wind in the Willows for the Comfort Book Club and I've just finished dipping into a wonderful cook book by Jane Brocket called Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer. It's made me want to reread all the Secret Sevens and Famous Fives! 🍰

Hello! Enjoyed catching up with your reading. I just received my slightly foxed Adrian Bell book, the winter one. Am liking it very much. I love D. E. Stevenson so I'm going to be reading them soon. Also I am enjoying Katie Lumsden debut novel The Secrets of Hartwood Hall. It's a gothic novel, about a governess in a spooky house. Katie loves the victorian genre so she knows her stuff. I like it so far very much. Very atmospheric. Hope you have a great week and am looking forward to seeing you next time. 👍🤗💕💕

Miranda I read The Apothecary by Sarah Penner this month. I think it is something you and Donna would enjoy. Check it out if you have time. I also read A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy and The Shadowy Horses by Susanna kearsley. I also read some crap I won’t bother you with. Sometimes you win…sometimes you get godawful books with a good description on the back. 😊.

Hoping that you are feeling much better now Miranda. Thank you for reviewing the books that you read in February…I have had Daughter of the Moon Goddess on my TBR pile for quite awhile, so I was motivated by your review to pick it up and start reading it.

Uhh excellent reccomendations! Starts of well with Daughter of the Moon Goddess. I am someone who usually really reads a lot of Science Fiction (on the magical end of the spectrum) so hearing from someone who usually doesn't about a SF book she really enjoyed, is of a lot of interest to me! Especially because I am also very interested in China. I am reading aa new Brandon Sanderson Novel (Tress of the Emerald Sea) - talking about Sf :) And 'oon Hospitality' by Derrida. But also would like to read some more stuff like Agatha Cristie or D E Stevenson - can you believe it, I still have not read either of them. And I am always here for good Childrens literature!
Hope you have a calm, relaxing and lovely week. Take care, xx

Welcome back. You managed to read quite a lot of books in the shortest month of the year. Seriously impressed. Do you persevere with books if you're not enjoying them? I do, unless they were bought for pennies. I am very much enjoying the style of dustjackets at the moment, especially the moon goddess book.

Hi Miranda. I hope you feel better. Thank you for your book recommendations. I'd love to read them all, but you've piqued my curiosity with "Daughter of the Moon Goddess" so I've gone ahead and ordered it as well as its sequel. I actually do like some fantasy books, but haven't read any for quite a while. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it especially if it's recommended by someone who isn't really into the fantasy genre. 😄 At the moment I'm in a Jane Austin mood, so I'm reading a couple of her books this month. Have a lovely week!

I have really appreciated your recommendations Miranda over time. They have been so useful and wetted ones appetite for different genres etc At the moment I am really enjoying Slightly Foxed magazine and it's 'clippets' from different stories of which then you can obtain the actual book and peruse at leisure!Hope you will feel a lot better this coming week and also regards to Donna. 🤗

I love The Simple Things mag - such lovely photos, recipes and nature notes. I've been reading Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka which examines our obsession with serial killers and male violence, putting the focus on the women affected by a man who kills (not just his direct victims). Less chilling, I've re-started David Copperfield abut thirty years after I last read it and am drawn into Dickens story telling genius.

So disappointing to hear that The Two Mrs. Abbotts is not as great as the previous two. It is sitting on my bedside table waiting to be picked up. I'll still read it but will approach it with less enthusiasm. I have to remember to order the new Laura Wood. It sounds like such a great book.
