Blue Origin New Glenn Ready To Launch to orbit for the first time! SpaceX humiliated…
For a giant in the aerospace industry, the greatest shame and humiliation is perhaps never having launched a rocket into orbit. You know who we are talking about-yes, it's Blue Origin.
But the story is starting to change for Blue Origin, as their only orbital rocket, New Glenn, is showing more positive developments than we might have thought.
So, what has recently happened with the New Glenn rocket?
Can New Glenn's incremental progress catch up with their arch-rival SpaceX's Starship?
What is the core factor behind SpaceX's success that Blue Origin may still need a few more years to achieve?
Let’s find out on today’s episode of Alpha Tech:
Blue Origin New Glenn Ready To Launch to orbit for the first time! SpaceX humiliated…
After two months of silence since the first cryogenic test of the New Glenn simulator in March, we recently saw Blue Origin showcase a new image of the new orbital rocket simulator on its homepage.
“We’re rolling out our New Glenn simulator again today for a series of transport erector-integrated ground tests in preparation for launch later this year. Tests will include powering up the pumps that provide pressure to the vehicle's hydraulic system, validating the ground system supplying commodities to the rocket, and a rapid retract test of the umbilical connections. More to come.”
Well, this is a positive sign. Alongside the affirmation and promise of a definite launch later this year, Blue Origin is conducting a series of ground tests on its other rocket simulator.
However, I don't quite understand why they continually use the simulator for testing.
Blue Origin New Glenn Ready To Launch to orbit for the first time! SpaceX humiliated…
If you have the answer to this, please comment and let us know!
Back in March, we saw a perfect representation of the New Glenn rocket simulator, which was erected vertically on the platform and even underwent a cryogenic test to check its structure. What we expected next was a static fire test of the seven BE-4 engines in the first stage. But in reality, they are repeating tests with new simulators. Although continuous testing is a prudent approach, it raises the question: where is the flight hardware? Can Blue Origin achieve the pace needed to meet the goal of launching by the end of 2024, or will it face another unending delay?
Hopefully, in the coming time, Blue Origin will provide satisfactory answers to these concerns.

LOL - SpaceX is so humiliated! Having launched more cargo and people to orbit than the rest of the world combined annually, they are worried about a company who is has sent a few space tourists to the edge of space and is about to catch up on Falcon Heavy (whilst SpaceX develops Starship - a Mars class spacecraft nobody has even started thinking about, much less building)
Alpha Tech - You might get more comments by annoying people with controversial Video titles, but you might annoy a few people who will be less likely to watch next time.. Try to stick to truthful headlines..... Otherwise I like and watch your videos as they usually have good info that's up to date...

From the looks of their fabrication, they are on track with standard primitive tube rockets done fabricated.
I suspect their worst problem is those motors that look like You asked an AI for an image of a one man big brass band....
Elon is a parsec ahead on simplification, Raptor 2's doing the job PDG, and Raptor 3's in the warehouse no doubt, and Raptor 4's at least in design phase. Each, simpler, cheaper, easier to build, and more powerful than the last.
And Elon got it up good with a couple big ones, and even got one home on the downhill trip. Now twiddling with tiles, and at least starting to try new things, coatings, like I have been harping on for years..
Hopefully they are also thinking about that flight profile, and that braking isnt everything.
Not if all you get for it is a ballistic parabola at 5X the velocity as you should, when you get down into the hot soup. Gotta keep it up!
Fly it! dont let it drop.
Turn insane velocity in thin air into enough lift that just the ballistic coefficient is enough over the long shot, that by the time you are ready to come down, your velocity is sub sonic.
Wings, not flappers. actual control surfaces. And maybe even consider longitudinal gores so you can have something more nuanced than a flying log.
Also like my last writ on tapered booster, if Starship had a fat butt,
it would create more drag in straight line flight coming home, and more intrisic stability flying.
Also more area for more or larger engines, or more space to work between them, so you dont need to hire service midgets to work on them.
I suspect the perfect shape for the tank ends of ships is concentric tapers with angles reversed, and the oxy in the outside larger diameter, and the liquid farts gas in the inside taper, and it showing a wee bit of tank end at the bottom.
So you have more of a funnel than a top tank with a straight tube out the bottom.
This configuration would give you central fuel access direct from tank, and the outer oxy as a ring around it. And you could have thinner wall thickness on the fuel tank where surrounded by the oxy tank's pressure. Hard to explain verbally, but need to go fatter and shorter on the tanks, and get more of a base to land on. So things dont get too tall on bigger ships.
Its like some of the renders of starship that are forshortened, and give the aft end looking bigger.
It looks good, better than the straight tube look, and its more useful.
To get there, would humbly suggest that central feed tube from top tank start getting some taper to it, fire hose nozzle analogy.
And start tapering the tank out sides, and then over time start blend morphing them together... baby steps for timid rocket engineerds...
I already helped cause at least one corporate beheading... really would hate hearing of more, getting those enlightened upgrades Elon needs to do the job.
He insists on innovation.... And I insist on trying to help...
And I'm not stopping ever.... Not here to be liked... here to push.
And on the tapered hull, would be possible to brake facets rather than roll the skin, if you wanted to do the skin in say three sections. you could build a long brake with radiused mating surfaces that was the length of the skin section, and give it multiple tapered bends. Also would look sharp. that and taper would get past that toilet paper tube look, and get you into better design aesthetics territory, and more nuanced designs.
Pressed hull sections. That you could weld the internal structure in to in almost the flats and then weld the sections together.
Just because you can weld uphill, doesnt mean you should. Its generally much harder, and gets worse results.
Rule of thumb for production design should be minimize anything that isnt welded in the flat.
    Just sayin'
And Elon says production is hard, so why make it harder when you can make it easier and better?
    (Sorry guys! I cant stop!)

Question: did NASA and Boeing delay the return of Starlighter so that it would not overlap with the appearance of the Boeing CEO in front of Congress? The CEO of Boeing had a disastrous appearance before Congress in the past few days. It seems to me that delaying, a return attempt by Starliner that might have serious problems would be a wise thing for NASA and Boeing to do. Unfortunately, at this point, considering that the leaks are ongoing in Starliner, delaying the return of Starlighter may be exactly the wrong thing to do and may cause additional dangerous to the astronauts. If NASA and Boeing delayed the Starliner flight return for optics reasons, it could be that NASA and Boeing are just compounding the problems that could result in an even more unsafe return attempt by the astronaut and may be a fatal return attempt.

Actually if NASA can do it, sending the Starliner back Autonomously without the crew of Two would be their safest option … then a Crew Dragon could pick up the crew on their next mission, makes sense to me for them to bring the crew back safely …

I don’t think NASA cares about safety of astronauts I’d rather about their reputation. It would’ve been a lot safer to delay the launch to the shuttle challenger a few days until the weather warmed up in Florida, but that would’ve been embarrassing. What you described might be a lot safer for the astronauts, but who the hell cares about astronaut when you have to worry about the reputation of the Boeing corporation? Better to risk the astronaut lives, then embarrass Boeing and by extension NAA Ssa.

I see you're getting some flak for "Space X Humiliated..."You have good reports and trust me, I don't click on your reports because of the apparent click bait. Let's assume you meant Space X humiliates Blue Origin. That being said, the more important issue is to discuss your report. Being a space enthusiast I always cheer for the success of all space companies. B.O seems to have suffered from mismanagement. A company that touted themselves as being hardware rich had a culture of "Don't spend (waste) Jeffs money." That's not the attitude of a hardware rich company. Though the B4 engine appears to be the stumbling block due to the long development and timelines missed to supply ULA for the Vulcan Rocket, the lingering issue might be reusability.
In designing Starship and removing the legs from booster and ship to attempt to catch with the tower, Elon had spoken of the mass of the legs on Falcon Boosters. He had explained how the mass of legs for Starship and Super Heavy would be so massive as to critically limit the ability of Starship to reach its goals of the desired tonnage to orbit. If legs would be too massive for Starship and at the limit for Falcon rockets, then what would the reality be for New Glen landing with legs? The payload of New Glen is already limited below other competitive systems of lesser costs per ton to orbit. Perhaps they will adopt a Rocket Lab style of soft water landing and recovery.

Blue Origin knows this too thats why they test with simulations, your time to failure is faster and you get to keep the prototype as reference.
