lol why does Ebert wants Miami Blues to be Henry? completely different sort of film. This is closer to True Romance in term of vibe. It is supposed to be fun, rock n rolly even though the guy is a jerk. I thought also it was a great performance by Jennifer Jason Lee, all the roles and actors were great in this
Anyone know the exact date that this episode aired? I'm guessing sometime in early 1990....I think I saw Miami Blues in the theater around March 1990 (I think).
Funny thing about Chattahoochee: Gary Oldman and Frances McDormand are in it as husband and wife. Last year they won the Best Actor and Actress Oscars!!!!!
Ebert laments that so much of what’s presented on the screen “is dead” and that eventually the audience will “be dead” as well. He might have added the word “brain” before the word “dead,” which is definitely the case in this second decade of the 21st century.
I really liked the movie Lisa and still watch it occasionally on a Saturday night.
I forgot all about Miami Blues!! Loved that one!
monicawism There’s a reason you forgot about it tho...
Billy Joel's "Pressure" video started after the reviews. Awesome.
Sometimes Ebert gets things completely wrong. This is one of them.
In 1990 movies were increasing competing with Cable TV which by now, was a mainstream amenity in American homes.
They really missed it on Miami Blues. Alec Baldwin was pure electricity in that movie!
I’ll be damned I agree with Siskel in Miami Blues

I actually like Lisa.
Lisa is more of a psychological thriller mixed with coming of age rather than a slasher.

They missed the boat on Miami Blues, particularly Ebert. The movie is lol funny at times, and neither mentioned that! Roger, the movie is a comedy!
now were getting somewhere. we got 10 resistance fighters now to fight the galactic empire.

😆😆😆
Alec Baldwin: Best chest in Hollywood (male division).
Laura San "Jackomo"?
gspendlove Yeah, I know. I wanted to strangle Gene Siskel for that blatant mispronunciation of "Gee-An-Como"...

Man I remember when this movie came out it was ripped to pieces, some critics said it was the worst movie ever made lol
Damn, Alec Baldwin was gorgeous!!! 🤤
Sounds like none of them are worth seeing at all except maybe MIAMI BLUES
Eberts full of crap on this one. It’s brilliant, and Alec Baldwin was never better than this. Fantastic trio of lead actors
Alec baldwin doesn't seem to match this character/his performance wasn't bad , he is just not the type for this role .
Too much makeup? Gene, its the movies!
