    Great list! One Point that bothered me the most while watching SGA was: Why did they never even attempt to build their own ZPMs? They had the whole freaking knowledge and even the whole city Atlantis to their expanse after all!

    • @digitalis2977
      @digitalis2977 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Rodney kinda did, resulting in the arrival of an extra Rodney from the dimension that they were siphoning energy from.
      A ZPM is an encapsulated pocket of Space-Time from which energy is drawn until it reaches Entrophy.
      Given the Ancient's...detachment...from other races and lifeforms, the odds of those Space-Time pockets being uninhabited are not zero, and as such, that wouldn't be an option that Atlantis Command not the SGC would be willing to utilize.

    • @digitalis2977
      @digitalis2977 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Fugp Basis No, what Rodney was working on *WAS* a ZPM...albeit a crude and open one.
      The ZPM is simply a vacuum bottle of compressed Dimensional Space-Time...essentially exactly what Rodney was doing, but portable.

    • @Cdre_Satori
      @Cdre_Satori 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@digitalis2977 Rodney specifically said it would make ZPM look like alkaline batteries. It wasnt ZPM ZPM creates artificial space-time that is 100% uninhabited. Rodney tried to sap energy from other realities hoping he would not hit one inhabited. The difference in size was exactly why it was better than reworking ZPM. It would sap into an endless dimension, unlike ZPMs small artificial one.

    • @Cdre_Satori
      @Cdre_Satori 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      They barely had covered half the things that were in the city, and Ancient database was gargantuan with bad interface filter settings. Searching ZPM manufacture would probably result in hundreds of pages of text all in ancient and heavilly technical only to ultimately find that they needed special industry that was not on atlantis.
      Other explanation is that in fear of Wraith ever finding a way to access the database Ancients never put such information on ZPM in there.

      I actually had a chance to sit down and talk to the actors that played McKay and Zelinka and asked them exactly this. Even posited a way to create one.

    Also they came up with a cure for the Wraith that got rid of their need to syphon the life energy of other species. It did have some flaws at first but those were later fixed and the cure was given to the Wraith named Todd to be passed on to his people.

    I loved SG-1, and the movie- I was never a big fan of Atlantis, or the other spin offs. I had never even heard of an animated series based on it. I had seen the movie several times, but was introduced to SG-1 by my older brother. When I had my first spinal surgery and was stuck in a recliner or my bed, he brought me the first couple of seasons on DVD, and he told me that if I enjoyed them, he had several more seasons for me to watch. I was tired of watching daytime TV and everything I had on DVD (and VHS- I still had a ton of those at the time), so I gave SG-1 a try. By the 3rd or 4th episode, I was hooked- I even got my (now ex-) wife to watch them too, and she enjoyed them as much as I did. So, my brother, being the absolute legend that he is, didn’t just lend me more DVDs, but bought me every season available at that time, and more as they were released. It was not something that I had ever planned on watching, as I didn’t think that it could hold a candle to the movie, but I’m so glad that my brother was the one to get me watching. I always trust his taste in music, movies, and stuff, because he knows what I would probably like. And he was certainly right about SG-1- it was an awesome show, and has become one of my favorite sci-fi universes, right below Star Wars. Sorry about the lengthy comment- I really enjoyed your video, and it brought back a lot of great memories for me. Thanks for posting this-

      Junior later is captured in the Middle East where he was helping people as a one-man private mercenary using the Zat Teal'c gave him after the adventure you just typed about. Junior was not part of a unit or a military. His captors(Talaban-like group) posted a video online showing a now 25 Junior Jack giving the Name Jack O'nell, Primes rank and serial number. Luckily the SGC buried the video and erased it from the net. SGC, and Carter who commands the U.S.S. George Hammond rescue Junior. Now John Sheppard is in trouble as he accidentally encountered one of those ancient database hand things on a wraith planet and was dying. He would die unless a marker(only found in O'nell's mind) was used with a piece of tech to save him. Prime now in command of Stargate Command was too important and the IOC would not let him go and he is too old for a rescue opp on a enemy Wraith planet. He has bad knees. So Junior is at the SGC where the IOC want to turn him into a lab rat. Junior agrees to do the mission if Prime can get him off earth. So Junior saves John but the SGA team destroys the ancient database in a huge C4 explosion. They all live, Junior forgives Teal'c, Daniel, Jack, and Sam, and says goodbye. Junior goes to live on a Pegasus Galaxy Planet where he meets a women and they fall in love. Sam, Teal'c, the SGA team, and Jack report Junior dead so.the IOC wont try to find him. Junior finally found peace it seems, a place to be his own man.
      The Legacy series is 9 books and 6 novelas. yea long but lots of fun too. The last book so far is about the Geni finishing repairs on a Acient Warship they renamed "Pride of the Geni" but the real ships name is "Avenger." I loved the darker, more primitive tone of Stargate Universe. In many ways, how is it no different than Atlantis? The Pegasus team stepped thru the stargate into an entire new galaxy with no guarantee of ever returning back home. Eventually, they overcame this and found a way back. With the gift of Asgard technology, it's entirely possible for SG:1 to find a way for travel both ways. The Ancients designed the Destiny with the full intention of returning to it. Surely they had a way for Destiny to dial back to the Milky Way. If the Destiny was fully restored to its fullest potential, plus the Asgard tech upgrades, it's entirely plausible.

    At 4:31, did you say "iron cannons"? It's ion cannons. EYE-on.
    Awesome list otherwise, and I hope they come back with a new series soon!

    Heliopolis, is one that seems like it should come back up, astronomical it is close to earth, not known by any hostile races, has a powerful computer that has super important” meaning of life stuff” has a building that seems to have lasted like a million years. And was chosen by the alliance of races for a reason. Why did we never go there for a beta sight or research location, off world SGC, recover the gate, fix the place up, thrown some paint on the walls and you have a ready made base.

    I'm unsure if I would like a new series of Stargate in the current woke climate after what they have done to the recent Star trek shite!!

      I'm just as tired about hearing people bitching about things being "woke" as I am the woke advocates themselves. It's sadly ironic that the most loudmouthed extremists on both sides resemble eachother far more than they do the majority of those on their own side.

      @@seanbrazell6147 yeah. God forbid people complain about all the things being changed in the name of woke. We should just shut up and let it happen. After all, if we don’t say anything, they’ll be like “you know what? No one is complaining about wholeness. That must mean we should stop doing this”.

      Not such a coincidence, all of sg-1 is on Netflix now and fans are showing up in force to show their love and that there is interest in the franchise, this leads to it being a relevant topic again which leads to content creators talking about it too. Our plan is working.

      There is. 8 books that literally follows the season finale, at most a few weeks afterwards. It's clear that he didn't do enough research about this, or just doesn't count the books as part of the SG universe.
      And if you wanna read them, the first one is called "Stargate Atlantis: Homecoming". Would definitely recommend them, have read all eight of them at least 3 times.

      @@joakim482 I don’t believe the book are “cannon” however until something better comes along I would class them. They are a good read, I enjoyed them a lot. There is also a comic series but it’s way over prices for such little content but the story behind would also make a good season.
