    Everyone loves Window of Opportunity and remembers how humorous the episode is, but it also has one of the most heart breaking scenes in the show, when O'Neill shouts "I lost my son!" it hits me 😥, RDA was so great in this show.

    • @Boskov01
      @Boskov01 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The whole cast was perfectly selected. But it's almost heartbreaking to see them all now. They're all so much older. Their hair's all starting to grey, RDA is several pounds heavier along with Shanks (Daniel). Amanda (Sam) and Claudia (Vala) still look gorgeous but they're both noticeably older too. Judge (Teal'c) is about the only one that still largely looks the same. Browder (Cameron Mitchell) has a beard. So does Joe Flannigan (Col. Sheppard from Atlantis). We all know what Jason (Ronan) is getting up to these days of course (Ironically he's the King of Atlantis). Rachel (Teyla) is a bit older too but still pretty. David (McKay) mostly does short podcasts these days. Torri (Weir) though looks like death. She's not aged well.

      If Atlantis hadn't ended when it did, we might've gotten something like that. Personally, I think it sucks that Atlantis ended on such a cliff-hanger and sadly I found seasons 9 and 10 a little disappointing compared to the first 8. Instead of Stargate Universe, they should've made Stargate Next Generation (obviously different title for copyright issues) in which Ry'ac, Cassandra, and Sha'ka all became the new SG-1.

    • @sigma80
      @sigma80 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@terrorcop101 The cheap bastards at Syfy didn't want to give the Atlantis cast a lifetime check for 100 episodes that is why they cancelled it.
      The one episode where the Wraith came to an alternate Earth and tried to bring them there from Pegasus was easily a two episode arc.
      They made it one "extended" episode to keep it UNDER 100. If you hot 100 episodes and you're in the credits, you have to get a piece now, no matter where it is made.
      They killed "Farscape" and destroyed the sets so Henson Productions couldn't make any more episodes.
      I do not understand why they are so hell bent on not hitting 100 episodes and they need to give the actors a cut.
      SG-1 was at Season 5 before it moved to Syfy so the 100 episode was almost or already passed and they needed the money to pay for buying it out.

      Will Coughran I do agree on Don being a great actor. He always found a way to make Hammond the strict but caring leader that would not give a command unless he was willing to do it and Don added just the right amount of humor in each of his scene and I think that sometimes I don't think that Don knew that he was doing that. The one thing that I thought was scary was in one of the episodes that took place in the future i think the episode was 2010 or something like that. SG-1 said that Hammond died of a heart attack in 2008 or somewhere around that date. Now i know that Don Davis did really die of a heart attack in 2008. that is just plain scary that both the actor and the character he was playing died in the same year from the same thing. but it is like you said. Don s. Davis will be missed and the acting world will never be the same. sorry for rambling have a bad habit of doing that.

    • @willcoughran6104
      @willcoughran6104 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      sassbrat No apologies necessary, my friend. I would guess that the actor died first, and it was written in the script that his character died to pay homage to him. But I'm not sure. Honestly, he's a seriously underrated actor. I've seen him in a few other things, mostly single episodic roles, and he is quite good. Apparently he was pretty highly praised as a professional by the main casts in those shows as well. I agree as well that he helped make this show great; while Bridges is a decent actor, he doesn't quite convey the military bearing Davis had. I'm sure he was happy for the job security and recognition this role gave him, but sci-fi actors often do get overlooked; at least they were back then. It doesn't seem to be as much the case nowadays.

    • @sassbrat
      @sassbrat 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      oh what i meant with Hammond and Don dying was there was an episode that aired in the 3 or 4 season i think that suggested that Hammond had died from an heart attack in 2008 as the episode took place in the year 2010 or something like that. i was saying that that is it a little freaky that Don Davis's charator and Don both died in the same year even when the episode aired a few years before Don's actual death. kinda scary like a foretelling of death.

    Such an amazing series. I remember watching the first episode of StarGate: Atlantis, and falling in love with it. My mom went out and bought all seasons of SG1 for me on dvd, and I binge watched every episode, and every single episode was worth watching. Never got into the SG: Universe, I think it was cause the SG1 team also had perfect chemistry. Will always be the best si-fi show there is.

      I feel the same. Universe was completely sterile as I didn't like any of the characters in it whereas I liked every character in SG-1 and Atlantis, even Cavanagh

    I was so young when i started watching the first episode and they became a real family to me...i knew perfectly all of them and they grown up with me year after year. I'd have dream about the moment when finally Jack and Sam became a couple and when Janet died it breaks my heart like it was a real person.
    I know....seems crazy but i never see another tv show like i've look at stargate sg1. And even if the time goes on i remember most of the scenes.
    I just wanna say THANK YOU for beeing with me all these years!
