Getting KQs to fold was definitely the highlight!!! That was freaking awesome! Lol... After dinner break sucked but live and learn. You are playing better and better as time goes on so don't beat yourself up too much. Great video, bro.
Love the content.... I do notice when your late in a Tournament, and you pull off a big move and come away with a big stack, you often start pushing the bluffs more and more until it gurts ya. Im not sure if it's the way your videos come across, or if you do get the euphoric feeling and start pushing the envelope and tge table image changes. I love the "not here to just cash or level up, I'm here for 1st" attitude and play for sure...
I like the variance play, just think some tightening for the emotional swings would help a ton. When you suck out or get a big bluff through, it should probably be a signal to tighten up for a few hands just to keep the punt monster at bay.
9:51 I think the play is to bet small on the turn (1/4 pot) to get called by lower pocket pairs like KK and QQ and JJ, then to size up al little on the river to target AQ and AJ.
before the dinner break, I was shouting FOLD!! FOLD... then he does ---- folds best hand. I was talking to Etan, but the other guy heard me. I can't take any credit, this hand was won on sheer guts!!! I hope you enjoyed your dinner Rampage!!! Best poker on TH-cam
He played that hand bad and still should have made the call. He was priced in to hit his 15 outs after picking up the double gutter with his flush draw. IMO he should have just jammed the flop and made his opponent make a tough call.
@@panchovilla3227 No he shouldn't have made the call... if you do the math it's not a profitable call long term with just one card to go. The call only would have made sense if the all-in was done on the flop. Why would his opponent have a tough call to a jam on the flop? That makes no sense at all. His opponent flopped a set of 10s. Snap call to a jam.
@@Ihave10billionsubs its not profitable long term? of course it is. Now with ICM implications then you might have an argument but with 15 outs * ~4% likelihood of each out = 60%
@@joeyp3094 Assuming he was telling the truth about having a set. Or did he show? Even if he snap called it's still basically a flip and you need to win flips to takedown tournaments.
I think the ak hand in lvl 17 is a mandatory raise 99% of the time. I think we can mix between calling and raising maybe SOMETIMES given the player type, but also i think with ak it would theoretically a much higher EV play to raise (as you’re going to be at worst flipping, but usually ahead). Also if he cold 4 bets our 3 bet, i think ak is also strong enough to flat in position.
all people saying that rampage can't play obviously don't know what they are talking about. That kind of tournament play is extremely difficult to play against and is also the way how you actually WIN poker tournaments. Play too tight and you will lose your last 7bb with AK against QJ right before the bubble lol. Well played Ethan!
Yeah, the way to win is to jam with A8o and get called dominated, and suck out. I don't think he CAN'T play, but I think he makes EXTREMELY questionable decisions sometimes and ends up getting it in bad, hitting his miracle and sucking out WAY more often than he "should". It doesn't help that I'm JUST watching that A8 hand but I just don't get the logic. "Fold out better aces"... yeah, or get called by them and you're basically screwed.
Good job Ethan. I saw you there streaming or on FB live on the stage on day 2A. I was on the table in front of the podium by the steps to the stage (in front of where you get rebuy chips). I got knocked out about 43rd from the money. I had 176k and lost 13 hands in a row to short stacks. Then got knocked out with 32 bigs on a cooler of aces full of Qs to my AQ (Qs full of aces) on an AQQ flop. I will be there again in August if you’re there again.
really want to thanks you, ethan for calming down your language, i know how exciting it gets sometimes, but youre a professional poker player having some acumen is desirable
Cherokee circuit stop is the nuts. I hope to see you there one day in the near future and get to meet you. I'm typically there every stop but haven't been there in a while. Good playing, keep it up
Not sure why you thought the line your opponent took was strange when you had AJ off. In the BB he got to see a relatively cheap flop and hit top pair. You checked back to him and the flop didn't hit your range, so he suspects correctly you're weak. When he turns a set, he knows he had to get value but from what? So he bets small, hoping you'll get sticky with an ace. You just call, which likely eliminates any pocket over pair you were slow playing. Then the river King is, as you say, a brick... But is the brick --he-- was begging for, this time. Knowing you'll check back the river with anything but pocket Kings, which you wouldn'thave played so passively up to that point, he decides to polarize and pray you'll look him up with a bluff catcher like AJ or some KingX with which you've been hanging around. About the most standard line possible for your opponent.
Dammit! I was praying 🙏. Like the play style. The bluff on the Queen was a gift and bottom line you should of slowed down because you where out stacking most contenders. Nice run
How did I know he was gonna punt all his chips away. He continuously makes bad calls but makes it this far cuz he sucks out somehow. When his opponents make a big bet he never believes they have it because HE always tries to bluff himself. 🤦🏻♂️
What?! How do you fold KQ in that spot? No streights on board. You only loose to AQ, Q10(unlikely considering only 1Q and 2 tens are unaccounted for), 1010, 77, 44.
