I love how worried as well as happy Tori is for Charlie 🥺 that's her little brother and it's a heartbreaking thing watching a sibling struggle, especially as much as Charlie did when he got bullied, and you can see so much of the love she has for Charlie
Like you, this show is so far from my reality, I'm 50 and live in New Zealand. However, I'm not ashamed to say I binge watched the entire season as soon as it was up to view.
We saw the Mom in season 1 episode 4 I believe when Nick ran to Charlie's in the rain and they were standing by the door she popped in to tell Charlie to get dressed because they were going to Grandma's
Yesss omg loved this so much!! The kissing montage took me OUT! I love the friends, their whole friend group and atmosphere they create together is so beautiful and warm. I’m full on yearning for that. Tori is the best big sis, the end of the ep looks so concerning it got me nervous from the jump. I always relate a lot to Isaac, tho Elle is prob my fav. I was also always reading at functions lol. I took his looks during that scene as not so much longing as feeling on the outside of things. I don’t think at this point he feels totally left out, but everyone is def coupled up and it’s obvious he’s the only single one. It just feels a little unbalanced. Everyone is in the lovey dovey phrase (or working to it) but hoping they equate some attention back to him.
Yes!! Very well-put. And also great replacement of "longing" with "feeling on the outside of things". That is exactly the sentiment I felt, but couldn't think of the right phrasing in the moment. So of course I defaulted to the most dramatic word. lol

I had to go to pee once because I couldn't hold it anymore butt other than that I didn't stop and I can confirm that it is awesome!! There have been some subtle plot points brewing that I knew you haven't yet picked up on yet that I'm very excited to see. Alice Oseman does a good job at allowing the story to develop naturally. I think you can safely read the first two books. Everyone seems a bit more grown up and starting to deal with more grown up stuff. Family (bio and found) become more important this season. Charlie's mom was in the ep when Nick came over in the rain.
Did you notice when Charlie is in the kitchen, just before he tells his parents that Nick is his boyfriend, he is making himself a bowl of cereal that he really doesn't put anything in the bowl. He rattles the box of cereal and just puts a drop of milk in the bowl. Apparently he has gotten good at fooling those around him that he is eating when he really isn't.
I can identify with Nick a lot. Coming out as bisexual, in the beginning was hard and it took a lot of courage on my end to actually come out to friends and family. My equivalent to Nick's mom was my dad. I'm pretty sure Nick's dad will likely be as hard for him as coming out to my mom was for me. If I had a significant other like Charlie, I think I would have found it easier than I had. I've already binges the second season two to three times. I cant wait for more of your reactions to this season!!!

@@DavidvsFilm thankfully the friends I came out to were more open minded and understood I wasn't just simply gay. I haven't had to deal with that much, since moving cities, I haven't had many interactions with people that thought I needed to "pick a side."
I've been in a long-term straight relationship, but over the last 6 years finally understanding things from my past and realizing that I'm bi. I'm only out to a couple of people.

By the time you finished season 2 I think there should be NO SPOILER in the first three books for you anymore. Anything that is in them and not in the show was cut/changed and there are no additional parts in there that weren't already addressed in the show Only one aspect I think was addressed a bit more than in the show but since it doesn't come up until later episodes and I don't know how far you are right now I don't want to spoil anything. Still, there is not that much more actual info about it in the books, it is just discussed a bit more than in the show. DON'T read book 4 forever if you want to avoid spoilers for season 3 since there will be quite a few in there even if some aspects of that book are already in season 2 in a small way As for if it gets darker. I will not spoil anything, I will just say that the mission of the creator (Alice Oseman) was that even if she covers very dark subject matter she wants to focus on the hopeful aspects of those more than the overwhelming darkness. I will NO say if or how dark this gets in season 2 + 3 (and more if they get made) so DON'T SPOIL!

Nobody knows. I mean Joe's Tiktok saying he has a crush on Kit, flirting with each other on social media, the way they hug each other in public is just not how platonic friendships are.. I'm not saying they are dating, but I would not be surprised if they are.

Issac would be my best friend. I too bring a book with me everywhere lol. I really like Imogen too. She's real, to me. short answer: it's not the most common way but we do say it sometimes. long answer: i'll say that, yes, "bathroom" isn't the most common word to use here however i wouldn't say that british people never say it. "the loo" is more of an older generation thing to say (as a 17 y/o from london) and i've never heard anyone actually say "WC" out loud. the common thing to say in london is just "toilet" tbh. however, some people can think that "toilet" is a little too informal. like, when i was in a professional space i once actively used the word "bathroom" just to avoid saying toilet.
