In case you didn't know! This show is based on a graphic novel series of the same name by Alice Oseman (who has had a huge part in directing both seasons, so the show is a really really good adaptation of her original creative vision).
Also, that's why the editing of the show has little animations and cut-scenes that look like comic panels, to pay homage to the original source! And they did such a fantastic job with casting, all of the actors look just like the characters in the comics

@@jeslycruz Also kinda a cool fact, Heartstopper (the graphic novel series) is a SPIN-OFF of Alice Oseman's debut novel, Solitaire (which is about Tori Spring, Charlie's sister). Solitaire is about a year later and Charlie, Nick, and Ben are secondary characters in the book. People loved Charlie's story so much in Solitaire, Alice Oseman wanted to write Heartstopper to show Charlie's 'origin story'.

As a 36-year-old gay male, I can confirm we older gay men do in fact love and obsess over this show. I really do hope you finish ALL the other episodes and post your reactions on here as I enjoyed this. I'm 15 years old and I'm bisexual and this tv show has been my comfort show, and favourite, ever since it came out. This is genuinely a great tv show and I love the representation in it. This show is just so wholesome. Everything in the show just warms my heart and makes me feel so happy. I'm so glad you decided to react to it.

The British school system starts with year 1 being the same as the American kindergarden, so their years are one ahead of ours. Our year 9 (freshman) is their year 10 and so on. Charlie is a freshman and Nick is a sophmore.
So would Charlie be in his 1st year of high school? Bc I was under the impression that he had been there the year before too bc the older students are the ones who finally stuck up for him.
@@Maggie_08 No, their high school would go from UK Year 7 to UK Year 13 (roughly equivalent to US 6th Grade to US Senior Year). Often Year 11 is the top year of a UK high school and then they'd go to a separate College for Year 12-13, but Truham and Higgs are private schools which I think is why they have Year 12-13 at the same school (but often somewhat separated from the younger years - eg, the Year 12-13 kids have a different uniform and may be based in a different part of the campus).
Hoping I got the details right - here in Australia we have a different schooling system in each state/territory, but where I grew up is probably most similar to the UK system.

They're all really good actors but they really step up their game in S2! Kit Connor especially is such an authentic actor.

As an Older Gay, I can absolutely confirm that I love seeing this. Not just the representation, but also thinking about what it would have meant to me as a queer kid trying to figure myself and the world out, to have a story like this? Incredible.

Ok so I'm Aussie, but the English schooling system is pretty similar to over here, and year eleven is basically like junior year for you guys :)
I'm half English and half Swedish living in America and you basically take take American grade and add one to the number.
